E3 2015 Abridged

From what I've watched so far I like these videos more than the older ones. It's not just pointing out the obvious (and sometimes not so obvious) things anymore but also contains opinions mixed with a solid grasp of the situation.

YOU ALL PRAISE THE CEILING CAR!!!!

Can't wait for the others, considering I only watched Microsoft, Sony, a bit of Nintendo and Square-Enix's. :p

Wow Sony have come a long way in putting on a conference. Even E3 2013 was filled with abstract montages, droning developer interviews, and TV TV TV talk.

He is basically Charlie Brooker light. This is basically an episode of E3 Wipe.

Not bad in the end :)

Was literally the same thing running through my head.

The exact style of commentary he does, with the additions of the cuts to him was literally Brooker-Wipe.

All he needs now is Philomena Cunk.

Of course none of this is a bad thing. I love how Brooker does it and Matt's pretty damn good himself.

I only watched the Nintendo Championship yesterday, now i know what i will watch on my lunch break :D

VideogamerTV went downhill when this guy left them :(

At first i thought the same, but then Bratt, Miller and Dave started to appear together more often, and they were really good. It's a shame Chris also left eventually :(

Preferred the quickfire voices and jabs from last year as opposed to the more laid-back commentary style/reaction video this year.

Nice job on these vids! When's Sony's coming out?

That's another big one! The Xbox one was probably about 12 hours of editing, next up is EA, then Ubisoft, then Sony, Nintendo, and finally Square Enix. Everything is already scripted and recorded, just a case of sitting down and getting them all edited - which is pretty much all I've been doing day and night since Friday morning.

Unfortunately one of my oldest friends is having a stag do on a boat this week, so there will be a substantial gap before the series gets finished. Hoping to get EA finished and up today, but then you're looking at next Monday at the earliest before the rest start dripping in. Wanted to get all eight done for today, but at the same time I don't want to rush them.

Final aim is to put them all together as one big video once the whole thing is done, maybe cutting out the weakest jokes and putting in some new bits to help keep variation in terms of pacing. It's probably the most ambitious project I've ever attempted, and I can't say I'm surprised to find that I'm unable to keep up with my own mad deadlines. ;)

Prefer the old style ones of him just making catty remarks

I totally get that. The shift in tone won't be for everyone, but I felt strongly that it was something I needed to do. The way I poke fun - in my mind, at least - is always in good faith, but I did find that the audience I started to attract wasn't one that I necessarily wanted - people who loved my videos because they seemed cynical, which isn't a trait I value or respect. I've also had a pretty horrendous year IRL, and that's definitely changed my outlook on everything - I'm no longer willing to add to the internet with anything that's simply more negative noise. Basically life tried to fuck me with the big stick, and now I'm an intolerable hippie-shaped prick.

Anyway! Pointless rambling done, but hopefully adds a bit of interesting context as to why things have changed this year.

These have been really good so far, probably better than the other ones.

They've gotten even better imo.

They have gotten so negative nowadays it's almost unbearable for me to watch, I know it's supposed to be satire and all that but for me it's just not entertaining to watch for the most part, I mean just go watch their E3 coverage, it wears you down. I still watch them from time to time but not nearly as often as I used to and Chris leaving didn't help either, although it was cool to see him in a Eurogamer video, didn't know that's where he landed.

lol this exactly why I think VideogamerTV went down after you left, it's all cynics now!

Wow, didn't know Matt was here on GAF. Thanks for the videos! In the past I've shown them to groups of people and they kill every time. Always one of the highlights of the week following E3.

Loving these. If I didn't know how much work went into them I'd be begging for a weekly series, a la Weekly Wipe.

Man, problem with something like that would be that on a weekly basis, what really happens? Mostly these days Games Industry News is just awful tea-cup storms that leave me feeling bleak! ;)

Loved the XBox one with the Ceiling Car. Couldn't finish the Nintendo one with the kid because it just was so awkward.
Praise the Ceiling Car 🙌
