Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Lol.
Fair point.
But would the lack of AO lead to a washed out image, is that the impact it has on IQ? Or is it not that simple?

Take a look at this picture.
px2Ja4u.jpg

See the edge where the objects meet. Do you see them not casting shadows on each other?

That's lack of AO.

Tell me why 30fps is bad, please?

I get a splitting headache every time I try to play a game at 30 FPS. You can defend 30 FPS as much as you want, however you want. Nothing you say will trump my own experience: 30 FPS is physically bad for me.

The "30 FPS is fine, deal with it" attitude is as toxic as it gets. If you're fine with it, more power to you. But PC gaming is, first and foremost, about having options. You should be able to lock your game at 30, 60, 120 and 144, or leave it uncapped if you want.

Of course I've tried changing the settings and using different combinations. The game still regularly stutters.

Its shit , get a refund , it you can't , wait for the patch. Honestly the game is a broken mess.

30FPS is fine for some people, not having the option to set it higher is what bothers game(this needs to be a standard in AAA PC releases). The biggest thing that bother me is the framedrops + graphical downgrade.

The benchmark tool seems to be pulling numbers from the ether, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The benchmark actually seems to be fairly accurate (this first time you run it), it's just when you get into a playable section it goes to shit because of a massive (v)memory leak.

I legit think this game looks like garbage

I don't know if its the film grain, or the absurd amount of needless particle effects and sorta dialed-down colors, or everything

but add the awful amount of aliasing + god awful textures and I seriously think it looks fucking terrible and just worse in every way except character models

like not even from a tech standpoint just from an aesthetic decisions one

Origins was super clean and stylish. This is some sort of shitty sensory overload passed through a shit brown grain filter

Tessellated cape in Origins is a gen above this game cape.

About the performance, locked 30 fps with a single 680gtx.

Game has been running mostly fine for me so far but I've kept my settings on the more conservative side as a result of all this.

i7 4790k
GTX 970
16GB RAM
SSD
Win 8.1

Only problem I've had so far is at one point randomly when i looked at the map, it didn't display properly and was made up of rainbow colours across the screen, then it crashed.

So been unable to play games for the past 2 weeks as i sent my 980 to EVGA to get the 980TI.

Just installed this as i got my new card today and i guess its a bad port then. Capped to 30fps i see too.

Ran the game full will all NVIDIA works stuff on fps looks shit took all th eNVIDIA works off its still the same issue with fps. Running at 1080p too.

Think i will give it a bit of time till they hopefully sort this out before i play it.

I forgot some posts with comparison pics that people made in one of the other BAK topics from before release where the PS4 version I at least thought oddly looked better than what was supposedly the PC version, that probably should've been a red flag.

Does this game eat hard drive space? I swear, my SSD had 148gbs of space left after this game was initially installed, but after nine hours of playing, it has 127gbs of space left.

The game is going balls deep into your virtual memory and blowing up your page file, possibly thanks to the ridiculous amount of memory this game is using.

Is it 30fps on Consoles?

I've asked a question about framerate, I haven't played anything down.
Not only is it also 30 FPS on consoles it looks better while doing it and for many the console version also runs better... When it shouldn't.
http://www.gamespot.com/forums/syst...-need-a-368-teraflop-gpu-to-match-p-29422359/

John Carmack said this is what you need to match a PS4 , 3.68 Teraflops on the GPU.

IIRC he talking about comparable hardware, people have been misunderstanding that quote since he made it. We certainly don't need a GPU that puts out twice the flops at the PS4 to just match it, difference between NVIDIA and AMD's architecture aside the 750Ti and even other AMD cards has shown that, this games requirements are a joke and an even bigger one now that we've seen how it looks and runs. Then there's the current gen console's shitty CPUs.

I've played an hour just now and I haven't encountered a single extreme drop compared to yesterday (besides the "usual" drop to ~27) or short freeze, mostly 31fps solid. Coincidence or has there been an invisible patch?

4670K
Sapphire 280X 3GB
8GB 1600MHz

Normal textures
High shadows
High details

At any rate, I haven't been able to run this so "well" since, uhm, never. Anyone else noticing this? It used to drop to unplayable kinds of fps, well down to the tens and frequently even lower to single digits when gliding around Gotham. Now it's mostly 31 solid...

From one of the comments of this eurogamer review:

PS4
PC

Is this really a bug, or do the trees grow in the story?

I'm not too sure how speed tree works in this game, surely it wouldn't create a new tree every time you enter an area. There shouldn't definitely be a tree in the PC version too, unless speed tree is also having issues on the PC version.

Invisible patch? Lol.

I don't know, thought maybe trying to cover their tracks or whatever. Yesterday it was all kinds of unreal shitfest whereas now it's actually playable in terms of fps (still some issues with textures not loading).

Still thinking it's just a coincidence, but I'll take it until it's sorted out for real.

Did you restart your PC? Maybe the solution really was to turn your PC off and on again

do you guys really think a patch for the game will be released this week giving the childish response we got from them in the forums? i mean, the fact they are saying that optimal settings are to play the game at current generation of consoles level is just incredibly stupid, i don't think i purchased an almost $700 dollars card to play at those levels of fidelity because we ain't even getting those levels of fidelity, if i have to guess this will never be fixed properly, the game will probably receive 2 patches and that's that, you only have to look at MK:X to have an example

Not defending them in anyway cause the status of this game is appalling. But recommend gpu is a 760 and 7950 I believe not 700 dollar cards. They havent released settings fo rultra specs which "should" give us quality above consoles. Prob cause they cant get it to run themselves lol.

Even my humble rig with a 280x and an FX6300 does better than the consoles in every game I've tried so far :lol.

Just wanted to say that while I can get the game to run at a pretty decent framerate, the aliasing is down right distracting at times. I don't care how many Nvidia Gameworks features they add, the entire games image quality suffers due to the aliasing. And why in the hell in 2015 are my only options on/off?

i have a 980ti and the game runs like shit, even if i put everything on im still missing AO and rain shaders, don't think that a high end card is having a great time with this game and if i wanted to run the game at a 30 frames lock i would have gotten the ps4 version, i mean, there's just no excuse for this, i would have rather they delayed the game a month for PC like they did with B:AC and we could have probably gotten a better performing game without missing effect that the other platforms have

I dont quite understand everything about graphical effects so im gonna ask a question that might sound dumb.

when im playing the game it looks really washed out to me, is this down to lack of AO or is it maybe just my tv settings?

I have the same issue. All other games look great, but AK looks washed out on my TV. Tried changing brightness and such without much success. I do believe it's lack of AO that's producing the washed out image. The game was designed to use AO by default so this bug gives us an image quality not intended by the designers.

Batman: Arkham Knight - Nvidia GameWorks 60 FPS Trailer---wait what

It is incredibly important that users with a min spec video card with 2 GB of dedicated VRAM (or 3 GB on AMD) to keep the Texture Resolution set to Low.

Dear WB, screw you.

I might break and buy the game on PS4. I'm mad I wasted 54 bucks. Now I'll have to go out and spend that money again and not even be able to get the season pass smh

You don't have to. You're essentially rewarding them for screwing you over if you buy it twice. Wait for a used copy and sell it back after if you must.

Thanks GAF. I've had more enjoyment from this thread so far than with my time playing the game on PC.

I would be seeking a refund but somehow I've already played for 2.9 hours according to Steam. I'm sure most of that time was running benchmarks and testing out different settings etc..

Damn it :(

You can still get a refund if you're over the 2 hour limit.

Two hour limit is just for unconditional easy refund. Ask for a refund due to major technical difficulties that make it impossible to play the game and you may still get your money back.
