Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Huh... according to the offical WB post the ocnsoles are runnign at all "normal" settings on PC. NOT high.

But that doesn't make sense since the PC has no AO and lacks higher quality shader effects...

The only graphics improvement I notice between PC and PS4, is the PC's superior view distance in terms of lighting effects (you can see the helicopter's lighting the ground int he distance, for example).

So they're still not being honest.

There's also the issue with things like missing trees on the PC.

..... Stopped watching it when they included that misinformation about the director of marketing losing his shit on NeoGAF. That's complete bullshit.

I was also watching this video for an accurate account of what was going on with the game, that seems like the whole intention. I'm so angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to taking advantage of GMG's refund offer!

In related news, I have a PS4 but there's no way I'm buying that version. Fix the port pls.
Hopefully the first patch runs smoothly, but if not I'm definitely taking that offer and just waiting until the game is on sale for $4.99 like every other Batman game I've bought.

So, you guys want to see something funny? The PC version isn't just missing effects like AO - certain textures and models are entirely absent:

AMD user reporting in.

Getting -

24fps lowest
45fps average
72fps max

Getting some streaming stutters on a normal hd but 70% better now on ssd (still happens but less).

During the first Bat mobile chase I got a hard lock and was running 28fps when it happened.

Graphics options on max (yeah whatever) no Nvidea....

FX8350 black at 4.2,R9 290x with 8gig ram.

Are you sure that's not some sort of plot thing? In the previous games there were areas that visually changed when you'd completed a task there.

Not sure - I didn't take the pictures. The increased cherry blossoms would suggest it might be Ivy related but, then I'd also believe that the port is just THAT bad.

I'm beginning to think it's pointless to think that the game will ever be brought up to par (All missing effects/extures/models/shaders added, texture streaming/performance issues and the non-stop crashing.)

I was going to try and power through the game just for the story, so I don't have to worry about random spoilers somewhere but the game just won't stop crashing every so often. I've removed the overclock to my GPU, backed the overclock back down on my CPU to one that ran 48 hours prime stable instead of the 12 hours I tested the latest for, and still crashes every 15-20 minutes.

Mordor was good on PC at launch but not great. It ran fine but was missing all post-processing effects (such as motion blur). Of course, knowing how much people tend to complain about those effects (insanity) perhaps that wasn't an issue.

Stuttering has always been an issue with UE3 on the PC when attempting to load assets. You could see it right from the beginning with the Gears of War port back in 2007. Move through a tunnel into a new area and you'd get stuttering on the PC that wasn't there on Xbox 360. Arkham City was horrible for this issue due to the attempt at an open world. Arkham Knight, however, pushes things much further to the point where it's kind of doing things UE3 wasn't really designed to do. A different engine could have handled this better, I think, since UE3 has always been awful on the PC for data streaming.

Shame they didn't go with UE4 for this game.

The massive stuttering here isn't caused by a streaming issue however (well I mean it indirectly causes the issue), there is just an insanely big memory leak happening which causes near constant HDD access (swapping).

Damn that's crazy. No real word to explain the fuckery that is going on with this game.

Minor spoiler from early in the game
Ivy is in that building and once she leaves she makes the flowers there bloom I believe.
The missing AO on the tiles is real though :p

In Batman Arkham Knight for PC, players take control of the capped crusader, to drop enemies like the game drops frames. Villains so vicious, they lack a conscious like the game lacks AO and textures. When you need to even the odds, summon the batmobile and studder about Gotham with its janky controls. Investigate the disappearance of wet textures, ambient occlusion and navigate Warner Bros. massive PR spin cycle!

Featuring exclusive nvidia features like game works which is sure to leave your PC crashing. Includes an innovative DRM application known to slow down performance of games for no reason, PC and Nvidia is the place to play and experience the definitive version of Batman Arkham Knight.

Finally faced reality and submitted a refund request for the season pass. I'll probably use it to pick up the PS4 version at Bestbuy.

Just kinda pissed that I gave up my PS4 CE since I got the copy free with my 980. Which also makes me sad that I'm not getting to use it for one of the games I bought it for.

I hadn't seen a bluescreen for years and I've seen one within the first 10 minutes every time I start this up.

I like the effort.

You know, my copy is running like anywhere from decent to pretty shit, it's still definitely playable though. After seeing this, if the patch doesn't improve a shit ton of the game I'm getting a refund from GMG.

Just noticed on Steam there is no big ad for the game anymore. Hilariousness, shit is going down.
Just to clarify, the people who bought it off GMG have to wait for the first patch before we can get a refund?

Not telling us anything we didn't already know, but GameGPU have their test article up.

If this is using the built in benchmark then it's obviously not indicative of actual performance. If not, then the game seems to perform pretty decently if it weren't for all the stuttering.

I know i'm in the minority and this is a really messed up port.
But i have close to zero issues. Game runs at 30 rocksteady fps. And looks great.
Even with uncapped fps it's not that bad.

Everything but smoke maxed/on. Fullscreen.
Ingame vsyinc off. Forcing vsync through nvidia inspector; Set to 1/4 refresh rate (my monitor is 120hz). Really don't know if it makes any difference. But i'm using it anyway.
Fps cap in the ini set to 30.

Single 980 with some light overclock
i5 4670k (iirc)@4ghz
8gb ram
Windows 8.1
Moved the game to SSD
