Mojang's Scrolls closing June 2016, no new content being added.

Took them long enough in my opinion, Mojang considered/talked about pulling the plug before MS took over. My only hope is that they try and make new games (Even if they are smaller ones) and not be a Minecraft only developer.

They are absolutely going to make Minecraft 2 next.

Seems like Microsoft's business model is very much about creating one franchise studios.

The Coalition: Gears
Turn 10: Forza
Mojang: Minecraft
Lionhead: Fable

Where does it say that Microsoft is pulling the plug?

It could be Mojang's own decision? I imagine that Microsoft would like to have a studio dedicated to Minecraft, but it could be Mojan's choice, couldn't it?

Doesn't say MS pulled the plug. I guess you fell for that polygon clickbait...and most of the people here will too.

Also I didn't even know this game was out.

I'm not sure that /s is necessary.

You seemed to have missed The Coalition.

I was only doing it to keep it from being misconstrued as trolling, but you might have a point here.

343i Dat Halo studio
Lionhead Dat Fable studio
Coalition Dat Gears studio
Mojang Dat Minecraft studio
Turn10 Dat Forza studio

All of their main studios are all fully focused on a single IP. Sure, that guarantees safe hits, but that IP burnout has to happen eventually. Plus it's booooooring and pushes the (Halo/Gears/Forza/Fable) narrative even more.
Though I guess if Halo hasn't burned out yet, I could be wrong. Maybe people never get tired of Halo games.

Mojang seems to be destined to be the "Minecraft Company" as much as Gamefreak is the "Pokemon Company".

Never tried Scrolls, but card games are a big-hit-or-miss thing.

I played Scrolls a bunch back when it was in beta and came back to it off and on since and really enjoyed it, but for whatever reason the amount of people playing it was always low and once Hearthstone came out that pretty much seemed like the end. Too bad, I thought the game was actually pretty neat. I really dug the combination of a card game and having to deal with the board, moving your units around and spacing them properly. I wonder why it didn't catch on at all whatsoever. It seems like it got absolutely zero press/marketing. I only knew about it because someone made a thread about it on here, I think.

That's kind of a misleading headline. It's getting another update and people will still be able to play it. It makes sense since only a small number of people played it to begin with.

Oh wait, sorry, I was using my head, let me try again.

Rabble rabble Minecraft factory rabble M$ rabble rabble studio gonna be gutted.
That's scary accurate.

If it was Mojang that pulled the plug I don't see what MS did but we may never know about that for sure. Also have to say I am one that never knew what scrolls was or ever hear of it .

I was struggling to think of an MS studio that wasn't 1 IP only. Forgot about Rare.

Imagine having lionhead and sticking them on only Fable til the end of time. Jesus.

I enjoyed Scrolls a lot, but considering I didn't even know there was a new content update, I'm not super bummed they're discontinuing development.
