Sonic Dash 2 Sonic Boom Leaked

People will mock Sega for this, but Dash did incredibly well so I bet this will too. Good for them for succeeding in the mobile market, but it will give them less incentive to try and make a good console Sonic.

I don't mind these games, I just wish SEGA would release a new Sonic Team-developed Sonic game again. There's a Sonic Colors/Generations-shaped role in my heart :(

Though I haven't played Lost World (Wii U) yet, so maybe I should give it a try :p

You guys remember when Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations came out, and it looked like the series might finally be back on track again?

Good times.

Think of it like this: more Sonic Boom shit means more time for Sonic Team to make the next normal Sonic game. :V

Seriously, aside from a small team making Runners we don't know what Sonic Team has been up to since Lost World. So they are seemingly getting more time to develop their next game than they did with Colours, Generations and Lost World.

why these reactions?
wasn't Sonic dash a pretty decent mobile game? and Boom is pretty popular, to apply that label on the mobile game seems pretty smart (and doesn't hurt a possible, and likely in development, Sonic Team Sonic game)

Those character animations are... not great.

Oh gosh, Amy just showed up.

The Boom name was pulled pretty badly through the mud by Rise of Lyric (and to a lesser extent, the 3DS one by Sanzaru.)

It really doesn't look that fresh, and a new runner game just came out, so here's another one?

Also, Sonic Dash is decent, but doesn't reach the level of games like Minion Rush, has some arguably unfair hazard organizations, and updates they've done in more recent times have made the game run poorly on hardware it used to sail smoothly on.

Graphics seem to be a little lacking, too. Could be the hardware it's run on, or early glitches, but it just doesn't look that vibrant. And the characters are missing shadows.

Wait, it's been a good while since I played it at all, and I only played it for a bit, but... isn't this noticeably scummier than the original Dash? I don't recall that having a "pay to revive or wait extra" system, just a limit on the missions to unlock said rings for unlockable junk like characters and whatnot, as seems to still be here. Like, you'd get more "missions" or whatever each day, but could just play as much as you wanted?

Though maybe I'm remembering wrong and/or they already "updated" Dash to this kind of system, since as I said I only played it a bit a good chunk of time back.

Why go the route of every other runner (3rd person, behind back)? Like, just go side scroller like Bit Trip Runner or something.

Already did that with sonic runners

Just got done reading Console Wars the Book, which I highly recommend as summer read.

Sega is a shadow of themselves, they have such amazing IP´s and they are doing nothing but to go for the cheap dollar. I don´t know what kind of management they have, pretty sure they are non gamers.

Sega has had notorious management issues since the 90s, though it was usually just dicking over the Shining Force team and borderline sabotaging their American branch. A lot of recent problems with them seem to be moving games to different platforms without giving their teams extra time or budget to accommodate it.

People don't like Sonic Dash around here? It's one of the best F2P games ever made, really chill and not intrusive at all.

There are a lot of opportunities to get the paid characters also.

Man that looks good, just wish that Sonic Team made a proper game for the 3DS as well.

Sonic Colours DS was the last good handheld Sonic game.

Hard to be worse than Megaman's 25th anniversary.

Indeed.

Hopefully (most likely?) it's PC/PS4/Xbox One and not a Wii U exclusive this time ^^

I still hope that it also get a Wii U release, after all Wii U owners are still lacking a good Sonic game.

I'm half-expecting it to be on everything, and look roughly as nice as Generations PC (except on Wii U/360/PS3).

SEGA needs a new Sonic game to be a big hit, might as well capitalise on the consoles that are more likely to be in the target audience's hands.

yeah, but the soundtrack tho

It's pretty good, but with all the wobble bass it's going age TERRIBLY :p

I'm starting to wonder about that statement that Sonic Boom and traditional Sonic will co-exist...

And Sonic's and Puyo Puyo's 25th Anniversaries are on the same year, so Sega has the opportunity to break my heart twice.

I've seen Atari 2600 games or even old LCD tiger portables that have more gameplay depth and complexity that this.

This is the definition of a game for the lowest common denominator.

But if it sells well, why not.

Meh.

Yeah it's a good 'running' game for the first few hours but then it turns really grindy when the requirements for advancing to the next level keep increasing and increasing

We'll get back to that next year. 25th anniversary, baby! I can feel it. Sonic Team are gonna knock it out of the park next year. You'll see. You'll all see.

I actually like Sonic Dash quite a bit, but this looks like a nightmare (and no, not because it's Sonic Boom).

I played dash for a few months before they did an overhaul with upgrades and stuff, had my fill and did all the missions at the time, it was a good to average game.

The changes made to dash made the grind a lot longer... just like the changes to runners. I don't think sega care at all.

Oh, they care. If you reach a point where you're progressing at a decent rate and no longer feel the obligation to fill a bar ad infinitum, how do they get you to spend money to try and fill it up again for that dangling carrot?

We may get something in 2016 from Sonic Team, but is it a game? Or just the film? Will the film be Sonic Boom?

People convinced that Sonic Boom won't be replacing Sega Sonic need to read between the corporate lines a bit more. At this point it's pretty evident that Sega are just crawling towards whatever is easiest to make money from Sonic, irrespective of whether or not we like the Boom franchise.
