Shout out to current GameTrailers crew: the best I've ever felt about gaming media

Anybody else really enjoying the current presenters and lineup of shows at GameTrailers? They're striking a great balance between dorky enthusiasm and some of the most thoughtful and insightful commentary I've seen in gaming journalism since.. ever.

Brandon Jones, super professional and seems to run a tight ship and keeps everything slick and organised

Bosman, instantly loveable personality with a unique style, funny and great chemistry with other presenters but also offers some great personal insights and editorialist about games and the industry as a whole

Huber, the perfect antidote to the relentless "heh that's gonna suck" cynicism of a lot of the other big outlets and yet still has some interesting insights. Compare his reaction to the Sony presser to that of GiantBomb.. I know how I'd rather feel about gaming.

Ben Moore, comes across as a young Mark Kermode of the video game world to me, goes into so much depth about what he thinks about games but does it in a really accessible way, as a critic he really holds video games to the standard you'd expect of other art forms, exactly what the industry needs imo

Elyse and Ian are legit comedians with a good satirical eye, they're funny enough to be on the Daily Show or the like imo

And props to everyone else in front of and behind the camera. There was no contest that this was the best place to watch E3 imo.

Not to brown nose but just feel a lot more positive about gaming journalism right now thanks to these guys and I'm so glad they haven't given in to the trend of shitting on everything like hipsters.

I like them. Everyone seems so jaded and pissy all the time. I feel like I should give them more attention.

And when they debate points of disagreement with each other they actually seem to be passionate about their views rather than some of the other outlets where they just sit there agreeing that everything is terrible followed by "yes" "heh" "lol" *snigger* etc.

I'll agree. The GT Live videos were great and just... their all around content has been great recently.

Brandon Jones... man, he was REALLY in there during the FF7 Remake Trailer Score. So much so that it was harder for Bosman or Bloodworth to get their 2 cents in. That's probably the only nit-pick point I could find but again, that's obviously also just due to his enthusiam so it cancels it out, really. All around, really solid.

Ben Moore, too. The guys impressions and the way he describes the games he plays, really genuine and so filled with detail. Keep it up, GT!

Michael Huber is probably my favorite of the GT crew. Him and Bosman... just... final bets are too perfect and Huber Hype is also the best (because I loooove to hype up myself too around the games I enjoy so I know how it is!)

I would say that Iove them because they are becoming something else about the Games Media, they are less serious about themselves, and they do not try to impose their opinions over others..

and that's precisely what I don't like about the other game journalists, the opposite for that

They easily smash the crap out of the boring "I'm super cynical and moan about fucking everything" personalities that are absolutely everywhere these days.

I really like Brandon Jones. He was right where I was when he was asking about No Man's Sky and the overall point of it.

I like them.

I got pretty tired of listening to a constant stream of wet blanket podcasts and videos, and with the "feign a little bit of ignorance on the details to make the podcast flow better" type of approach that's so prevalent these days.

As they've fired a lot of people, they've transitioned from a content driven site to a personality driven site, and people seem to like it.

I agree and I actually posted this on GT's site:

I'm gonna go mushy here, gang. But... I have to write this.

For the past few years, I've come to this site once a week, every Wednesday, to watch the latest episode of the Final Bosman. And that was about it. Maybe check out a review, but my main presence here was for Kyle, including the Final Bets segments.

Then I saw the Sony reaction videos.

And I couldn't stop there. I watched the entire Twitch replay of the Sony event followed by the 1 hour wrap-up.

The four of you are the kind of gaming journalists I want presenting my video game news to me: Excited about the medium, celebrating announcements, camaraderie, enthusiasm, humor, all of it. Some journalists have become so jaded lately, or angry, or cynical. Not you guys.

So for the rest of the week, each day I turned on the live broadcast and listened to it while working. Just me in my office with my headphones on, listening to you guys, ALL OF YOU AT GAMETRAILERS (not just the Sony Four), hyping video games, playing video games, enjoying video games. Every now and then stopping to look at the video playing. It truly made my week last week, and I went to the theater for the Sony event. I was bummed when it all ended.

I'm now a huge fan of everyone employed here and will be coming back for the rest of your shows. Huber Hype, Mandatory Update, Just Played... whatever.

Yeah I can't stand watching him. He is way too over the top excitable. Reminds me of PewDiePie, and that ain't a good thing

Pretty much my feelings exactly. I mean I know where he fits in, but you can be positive about games without being so over the top all the time.

Definitely my favorite cast of games peeps right now. Don't necessarily get into all their individual shows (mainly just anything with Bosman or Ian), but they all seem like cool people.

Also really nice to have an outlet that isn't overly cynical. Even watching Kinda Funny can be a total downer a lot of the time.

I've grown to like them a lot more...as someone mentioned before, it's all personality-driven now. I don't remember seeing any of the GT staff 2-3 years ago. Huber and Bosman are both hilarious.

I'm totally into them and Kinda Funny. A couple people over at gamespot are okay too. I try to follow individuals that have opinions like mine over any group but I agree current GT is just fun.

The most likable video game crew since the classic 1up days. They're the only site video game media site I actually care about.

yeah, i'm really starting to get into them. i'm finding giant bomb stuff too dry at e3. i get it for veterans like jeff, alex, brad, and vinny but that lack of energy transferred itself to dan and austin too

i'll probably watch e3 live with with GT crew next year.

I'm pretty new to them, was a big watcher years ago but went all in with giantbomb, since the tone of gb has changed I'm all over the way more fun and grounded gt crew now. They have a real nice vibe and mix.

Young GT is great. Use to love giantbomb, but it's been tough to stay around as the unfortunate loss of Ryan Davis really affected my connection with the site.😖

Yup, their E3 coverage was fantastic and I've rewatched many parts of their vids over the past 2 weeks.

I like them too but I have to roll my eyes at the giant bomb comparison. Sorry they weren't jump out of their seats for games they don't care about.

I dont think anyone actually wanted Giant Bomb to go nuts like GT, people just expected some sort of reaction at all but they basically had no emotions or surprise at all as if they didnt even give a shit. Which combined with many of their recent views and content lead many people to feel that they are way too cynical and jaded about everything.

I completely agree! I hadn't heard of Gametrailers at all until about 3 weeks before E3... now I can't stop watching all of their coverage! No offense to my past news/commentary outlets (IGN, Kinda Funny, Gamespot), but I feel something special with this gang.

Don't forget about Daniel Bloodworth. He knows his stuff

Their E3 coverage and GT Live are amazing.

I fell like they are more gamers than game journalist.

Too bad Ryan Stevens and Michael Damiani aren't there any more. They were class.

Also Bloodworth needs a shout out. I think his role is nowadays more of an editorial organizer type person and I think his only regular on-screen things are GT Live but he is a bro.

And don't forget Matt Blair and Brad Ellis. I heard they like video games and can talk about them intelligently. ;-)

I'm not a fan of the humour in mandatory update, but I like them 2 at E3. Bossman is fantastic and I started watching Huber Hype a week before the Shemue thing - he's brilliant

I listen and watch the other 'big piglet' every week, but I've started watching GT's podcast too to add some yin to the yang

I didn't pay attention to the staff until this E3 before I just watch their shows like pop-fiction on and off. But man seeing other people with that level of unbridled enthusiasm means alot to me.

After E3, I listen to their GT Live thing and everyone seems on the level there.

Gametrailers is one of my favorite places to visit. Not only fun and positive, but also, i really enjoy timeline and retrospective. Very informative!

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I like the crew overall. Huber is a bit much for me tho

My thoughts as well. Huber doesn't work for me, but I get the appeal for the younger audience. Seems like a good guy though and his rapport with Bossman can be entertaining.

Big respect for Ben Moore though, love his articulate dissections on games without coming across as unhinged even when its clear he holds sincere passion for specific properties. Keeps it together and does an incredible job at communicating his thoughts intelligently on games without pandering or resorting to personality quirks. I always perk up when he starts talking in various content on the site.

Final Bosman is OK but I can't stand any of them in other content they produce.

Lol they did react. Maybe not to the same stuff as others, but any time a new IP showed up they were all over it.

I don't think that's jaded, but it definitely speaks to what they're looking for at these conferences opposed to other journalists.

I liked the crew better when Marcus and Shane were still there. In the remaining crew i pick Daniel Bloodworth and Brandon Jones.

I think my favorite parts of their shows are the corrections. I hate "you said something wrong!!!" type people, and it's cool to have the "oh yeah, guess we did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" response.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
This E3 shot them to my favourite games coverage out there. Passion, intelligence and informed knowledge. Rare lineup for this mediums media.

I absolutely agree, the best part for me is how they complement each other, because they most DEFINITELY don't share the same perspective about games in general and that leads to some serious (and mostly funny) discussions about any given topic and, personally, is what I value the most when i'm consuming content on the internet. They're one of the few pages where I have disabled my ad-blockers to support them and I hope they can revamp it to consume everything from there and not from youtube in one hand and from twitch in another.

Hell yeah. I started subscribing to them on YouTube thanks to their E3 Press Conference reactions videos, and I'm sold. I usually die during 1 hour podcasts, but they pull it off, remaining interesting all the way through. I hope they keep it up!
