My favorite variation is Sakurai's

I imagine that Iwata loved people poking fun at his Direct gesture.
It was charming, I really tried to use it in my everyday life and talking all the time.

All these tributes are very touching. I will be racing as Iwata in MK8 for the time being.

Agreed. Although it hasn't affected me like it has others (I will probably lose it the day Miyamoto passes away), the outpouring from fans, well-wishers, and gaming aficionados in general has resonated with me far more than any other "celebrity" passing ever has.

I wish Nintendo would remove some of the restrictions from the Gold Pants Miis. I've got Iwata, Reggie, Miyamoto, and others on my 3DS, but I can't do anything with them outside of Streetpass games.

executive producer is just an honorary title that is put because he was the Nintendo CEO, next president will have his/her titles as well, but he worked directly in few games, like earthbound, pokemon red/blue/gold/silver or balloon fighter

He reportedly played a milestone build of every game on which he's listed prior to release

Why not? We're just talking about Iwata, his antics and the fun we've had with him.

Uh....because it is the perfect time to bring it up? Iwata had influence on many people.
Is it really so hard to wait for Alberto to respond to my question, since I was clearly asking him a personal question?

...because it shows Iwata had fun with his direct persona and was fully aware of how it could be parodied?

People around him liked him. It seems as good a time as any to mention that.
Ah, that's all you were going for. Thanks for clarifying.

PETA is looking like the Westboro Baptist Church with their past. They are not going to make their message look like anything besides hateful and mean comments. They did this type of thing with Super Tanooki Skin 2D.

Edit: It was nice to read them say that, but they always send the wrong message when all I see is the other side.

yeah, well, I suppose, but for me playing a game is very different to making a game...

however, it was pretty amazing to hear that he made some changes on the balloon fighter game on Nintendo Land because he knew the game could control better, much similar the the original. That is something only a gamer can tell

As horrible as his passing is I really hope this time of collective mourning can help bring gamers together. Dial back the hate and get back to a more involved and less vitriol community as a whole.

Basically to get back to having fun.

Man I open up Neogaf for the first time today, see this topic... BAM this hits hard.

RIP Satoru Iwata, thanks for the countless hours of fun you gave me. You've passed away too soon.

Wow.

i didn't have internet for the last few days since I'm on a cruise. Only just now paid for internet and got greeted by this devastating news. I'm honestly pretty crushed by it. Had no idea his health issues were that bad.

My wishes are with his family, friends, and everyone both in the industry and out that loved him and what he did.

After the thousands of hours of fun he's given me, I know he would want me to enjoy the rest of my vacation, but it's gonna be tough with this on my mind :/.

RIP. The industry won't be the same without you, man :(

You know... it's a testament to the man's life and work that, as sad as I am, everything I remember about him puts a smile on a face. I'm sad, yes... but I've been smiling all day thinking about everything he accomplished and did for us.

I can barely read this thread. Whenever I do, I just burst out in tears.

Like many of you, I never knew Iwata personally, but games he was apart of really shaped me as a person and as a gamer.

I was always excited to see him in every direct. You could tell he just had so much passion for gaming and providing exciting new experiences to us: the fans.

Thank you for everything Iwata! My thoughts and prayers goes to his friends and family.

I think I read somewhere today that he did some kind of work on the Balloon Trip Breeze portion of Nintendoland, is there any truth to that?

4chan using Smiles and Tears on /V/ got the manly tears flowing last night. I listen to the Earthbound soundtrack regularly and that track will always make me think of Iwata even decades from now.

This is a silly Reggie vs. Iwata video, in which Reggie trains up to take on Iwata, but ultimately loses to him. Made before the news of his passing but I still think it's funny and not at all meant to be in poor taste, but in the spirit of his humorous Directs.

They may have run things past him but he hasn't worked on any game since becoming CEO.

Though he told Stephen Totilo that he wants to start making games again, but he's too busy as CEO. Kind of sad he never got the chance again.

I think Melee is the last game he worked on, helped to fix bugs, so it could release in time, he was already CEO at this point

Nope, the last Game he worked on was actually Nintendoland.

It was somewhere in this Thread that he fixed something with the Balloon Fight Minigame that he didn't liked.

I still can't get over the little kids lining up to sign his memorial book at Nintendo World just now. I dunno why that hit me so hard. It's gonna be a long train ride home today :/

Would it be an odd request to ask a couple of GAFFERS to go online in MK8 with a Iwata Mii's and drive slowly around one of the simpler tracks like a semi-funeral procession and save the replay?

Or would this be too weird/insensitive?

EDIT: I mean this in the best intentions, as a sort of memorial run around the track.
