Nintendo Downloads - July 2015

Fun game, right? It definitely picks up quite a bit partway through World 2 in terms of creative and compelling level design, but I found it fun from the beginning. Anyway, we're nearing the end of World 4 and have been trying to get the villages in every level and mostly succeeding. No idea yet what getting them gets you, but it certainly ups the fun factor to try to find them. They're like the NSMB Star Coins of the game.

I think I'm close to the end of world one right now. So far I been having fun. I wasn't actually plan on getting it, but I needed a Splatoon and Smash break. lol I just like knowing for collectables if it's something just for added fun or if I unlock something. Just for the usefulness I guess. Because if I get a special perk or something I like to get it all in one go otherwise I'll just revisit levels and not worry about it as much.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Looking at Nintendaan's recent tweets, NCL announced / updated next week's eShop releases, and both Animal Crossing and Corpse Party are up for pre-loading too. I wonder when we'll get this week's European PR.

Guys which do you recommend? Toki Tori 2 or Shantae? I might buy the other before the sale is finished.
Are they lengthy games? Like 10 hours or so?

Toki Tori 2 will keep you busy for 10-20 hours depending on how much of a completionist you are.

Do you want an action game or a slower paced exploration-puzzle game?

Cube Life doing well.

"When you can't have what you like, you like what you can have"

Anyways, how is this game? Fun, worth to jump into?

To those asking what is like

Ive never played Minecraft, but i was kinda enjoying this Cube Life a lot.

What it is

You have a huge map divided into several areas
The map is an open world. Yet you have to endure a LONG loading screen every time you cross into a new area
Objective is just to survive. There´s Food, thirst and life meters. You need to drink coconuts or eat mangos for water. You get food from all fruit and fishs and animal meat
You can creat tools and a lot of other stuff in a "craft table"
Game is set on islands, so its a game with a lot of water (hi MarioWiiU). Some areas in the map have no islands at all

The bad

The game isnt complete. In fact the developer is selling the game for a smaller price (i think $6?) until the next update

By "isnt complete" i mean really, isnt complete. You have a huge map but you can only do to a few squares of it. Some areas of the map are simply inacessible. You get to the border and the prompt to "Travel South/north/west/east" dosent appear, and you end up just bonking your head to an invisible wall
Several bugs plague this unfinished version of the game. For exemple: if you die from drowning, the next time you load the game your character respawn drowning even on land. You have to jump into the water and come out again for it to fix.
Worst bug: enemy characters can shoot arrows through walls. So you hide behind a wall and it simply dosent matter, they hit you anyway and you die (fast)
The game has serious frame rate issues in some points
The game has a beautiful water reflection effect... that only work watching from certain angles
The game has some trouble showing the whole area when watching from above (is that called "clipping"?)
Tools break too fast
Food and thist drops too fast
Life drops too much from almost any fall (my opinion)
The loading is looong, both when loading a game or loading a new area

The update

Developer Cypronia promises the first update for august
- Local multiplayer (one player tv, second player gamepad)
- Pro controller suport
- Pets (?)
- Tools will last longer
- Thirst will drop slower
- Some fix to gravity (i didnt think it needed fix)
- Option to turn off water reflection so you cant get a better FPS
- Loading will be 30% faster
- Invert Y-axis button added (i saw a lot of people asking for this)
- Water flood after loading fixed
- Animal drop items more frequently
From what i read, the game will be more expensive after the update
Also, early adopters will get a free Cypronia game in the future, to celebrate the good sales

Also i think i should mention...

The game has 2 modes: Creative mode and Survival mode
Ive only played the Survival mode.
Everything i said above is survival mode.
But creative mode seems to be pretty popular on miiverse

I forgot what else i had to say about this game, so here some pictures from my miiverse

mejbk.jpg

This is the raft. Its incredibly hard to craft, since you need an item dropped by sharks... and i´ve killed 100 sharks and got TWO of those
Also, the raft is useless. Sharks tear it down in a second

j6avr.jpg

Here is the safe way to travel i created
I just get a billion sand/leaves/dirt blocks and create a huge bridge in the water
But to build this bridge i also have to keep dodging the sharks... which is hard
"N" so i can easily see its a North gateway

t4os4.jpg

And this is one of the huge bridges i created.
This one is on an area without islands. There´s only water in this sector.
And also my bridge leads to North... and there´s nothing on north. The sector north of this one does not exist because the game is incomplete
In fact you can also see the map, and in it i already visited almost all active sectors, which means most of the game map isnt ready yet

That sounds like...an Early Access-ish release?

It sounds like how they Minecraft was dealt with in the beginning.

Toki Tori 2+ is the better game IMO.

I think I'll buy Toki Tori 2 first. I like both types of games. I've had my eyes on TK2 since it was announced and I think it's time to bite.

So no Wii games in NA, not only do we not get summer retail releases we also get no Wii games on WiiU

Yeah, I don't understand what NOA has against these Wii ROM dumps. Sigh. I really want to change as much of my collection to digital as possible.

In honour of Mr. Iwata (her own decision)
I've got to run (Wii U) - 0.01$
I've got to run (3DS) - 0.10$

...didn't even know you could have such freedom in setting prices (even if, according to what said in these threads, she actually loses money by doing this)

I heard she's actually even said any money she gets during this period will go to charity. She honestly wanted to make the games free for a day, but that wasn't allowed or something.

Does anyone have a list of upcoming Wii U eShop titles and release dates (I'm mostly interested in NA). It seems like we're getting a good number of them in the next month or so.

Yep. She will lose $0.3 on the Wii U edition and $0.65 on the 3DS version for every sold copy. So for every copy downloaded, she will actually be paying Nintendo.

I think it's good on her for doing this. Really great way to honor his legacy I think.

Edit: Btw. We can set price of our games to whatever we want. Raise it, decrease it set on sale. Total freedom.

That is a nice gesture. I'd feel bad making the dev pay nearly a dollar for me so I'll only purchase the Wii U version.

I would be much more okay with this if I didn't know she was going to have to pay thousands to Nintendo. I hope the game has already done well enough for her to afford this, and she isn't underestimating how many people will download the games. Some of the comments on her Miiverse post are disgusting. She is doing this out of her own pocket, for someone she and many others had a lot of respect for.

Either way, she has made the choice already. It is an amazing gesture, and it shows how much of an effect Iwata had on the world.

I'm hopeful Nintendo waves that fee or that it's done so she just earns nothing and Nintendo gets all of that without her losing money.

Damn. Well, at least she is fully aware. Hopefully just means this whole quarter is $0 for her and all the extra -$ isn't carried over to Q4.

She believes she'll go into debt. I thought about replying to the effect that I hoped it didn't happen, but wasn't sure how.

Honestly what is the point of this? The game isn't related to Iwata in any way and if she wants to spend money in his memory she can give flowers or donate to a cancer charity or something of the sort.

In a perverse way I hope she's doing this to capitalize on his death and get some publicity for the game because actively spending money to give out an endless runner to what could be millions of people that is 100% not related to Iwata is just about the dumbest thing I can imagine doing.

Yeh I actually feel like she should have done something more to the effect "All proceeds of this game will go to charity in this quarter" or something, since I don't really get the point of her losing money in honor of Iwata per se.

Just based on reading her tweets it sounds like the original intention was to give copies away for free, but she then learned that was impossible. But since she had already committed to the free giveaway, she didn't want to renege on that so this was the alternative. I think perhaps she should have simply charged whatever the minimum is so there's no "fee" incurred. From what I understand, I think that's 15% of the regular price?

I for one was glad to see N64/DS games coming with more frequency, crossing fingers Blaster Master isn't all, albeit it'd be known already.

Mario Tennis has me drooling for some Mario Kart 64 / Smash / Mario Party 2 multiplayer goodness.

No weekly PR at all? Well damn... I hope at least there'll be one at update time.

Edit: website hasn't even been updated. Weird.

Essentially four VC titles. Yes Wii isn't technically VC, but it is still a non-native Wii U game. America will get Blaster Master and that'll be it.

How many Wii games does EU have now versus NA's 3 from months ago?

<hope I'm wrong>

Interestingly, the "Sense by Play.me" community has now been removed from Miiverse.
Wonder if the app has been removed from the eShop too?
