Can I just say that Sunny is easily the best comedy on TV right now, and yet always gets ignored by any awards ceremony?

One of several episodes I'm always juggling as my favorite. The DENNIS System, Who Got Dee Pregnant, Frank's Pretty Woman, and The Gang Reignites the Rivalry are the others.

Eduardo was in my mouth and Luther was in my butt. Then Luther went in Eduardo's butt for a while.

To establish dominance, of course.

It's not even the best episode of Sunny. That honour belongs to Charlie Work.

Best sitcom episode is The One With The Embryos in FRIENDS. The quiz is one of the greatest moments of comedy ever conceived.

It's too dark for them. I have a few friends who don't like the show because "It's about absolutely horrible human beings." I'm like "Yeah, that's the whole point."

That style isn't for everyone, apparently not for a lot of critics in particular.

Yeah, one of my favorite episodes is the Jersey Shore episode, which is dark as fuck.

Great episodes listed in here but I have to go with "The gang gives back." Between the picking of the kids for the basketball teams and Charlie getting drunk as the referee and blocking kids shots, it doesn't get much better than that.

I know it's a weird ep to put on the list, but The Gang Buy a Boat is one of my favorites.

"Ooooooh, the implication"

Best episode

Dennis' face after he says "because of the implication" 😂

and Mac when he's explaining the beauty of the open ocean "where we can be completely alone and you can make rash decisions based on fear" 😂😂

I mean it's a show about horrible people who enable each other that have shitty lives because they are horrible people who hate each other but hang out all the time because they enable one another.

They never "win" like real "good guys" do, they just move forward as continually shitty people getting themselves into situations because they are all shitty people.

That's what makes the show great. It's why Workaholics isn't nearly as good despite trying to follow the same formula. It makes the characters A) not shit people and B) like each other. And that kinda misses the point.

There are better all around episodes, but no exchange has ever made me laugh harder.

Frasier's "Ham Radio" is my pick. Also like the Cheers episode where Frasier and Lilith fall for one another on live tv.

If we're just going by Always Sunny episodes maybe Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth. Once Dennis mentions Lethal Weapon 5 reshoots you know it's gonna be a good episode.

Rest of that season was kind of a mess, got me to stop watching the show for a few seasons.

Don't remember that one, but I just love how intensely self-referential Nightman's is.

Last line of the open "I'm gonna save my dad you guys!" flash to title card.

Awesome moment.

The scene where Charlie and Dennis write the "Dayman" song, and Dennis adds the "uh-ah-ah" lyric kills me.

Oh man, totally disagree. Now both of those shows are great, amazing even, but It's Always Sunny is the only sitcom I'd put at Seinfeld's level.

Always Sunny is basically the new Seinfeld except instead of it being a show about four assholes they went ahead and added a fifth with Danny Devito.

It's probably my favorite show of all time.

Can anyone think of another show that had an insane and untouchable hot streak of comedic gold that cooled down for a few seasons, then picked it up and started another hot streak like Sunny has?

It undeniably had a dip in quality for a couple seasons but the last two have been on fire.

I'm a huge advocate of everyone has to have a favorite of something (i.e. every parent has a favorite child).

But I can't think of a favorite Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode. Whenever I think of one I love, I think of another. It really is Seinfeld tier in that it's consistently good.

Friends isn't the best anything. Take your pick of a dozen Seinfeld episodes for the best sitcom.

"That seems really dark though"

Always Sunny is amazing.

I wouldn't say it's the best episode of any sitcom ever though, there's definitely some episodes in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Fawlty Towers, and Blackadder that rival it.

Alway Sunny is top tier. That episode is top tier, but I don't know if its the best. There are a lot of A+ episodes in that show. Either way, it's a contender.

Like, Mac getting fat for a season is some next level comedy.

This. There really isn't a bad episode outside of the one with Frank's brother.

The Gang Dines Out and The Antisocial Network are top tier episodes.

Best sitcom episodes in TV history IMO, no order:

"The Opposite" - Seinfeld
"The Contest" - Seinfeld
"Adolf Hankler" - The Larry Sanders Show
"Lucy Does a TV Commercial" - I Love Lucy
"Cape Feare" - The Simpsons
"Shaq" - Curb Your Enthusiasm

I'm forgetting a few more that would round out my top 25. I think I'd put "The Gang Visits the Jersey Shore" and "The Niteman Cometh" on that list, though.

Speaking of shows with Danny Devito - I've always loved the episode of Taxi called "Reverend Jim: A Space Odyssey."

Its so good, I was shocked that I couldn't get into it a few years ago. Got to watch it through the whole series for the first time recently and it seems to never really drop in the humor factor, even in the later series. The DENNIS system was the best episode imo, just really outlines the entire hierarchy of despicableness that the characters exhibit throughout the series.

The back half might range from mediocre to terrible, but FRIENDS' first five seasons are solid gold.

Seinfeld isn't without flaws either. I don't get how people seem to forget that the first two seasons were pure torture, devoid of humour.

Always Sunny has a ton of GOAT eps.

Nightman Cometh
Charlie Work
Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games
Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person
The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore
The D.E.N.N.I.S. System

I could keep going honestly

One of the best, for sure. Really highlights the glaring flaws of each character individually. Damn OP I literally got done rewatching the series and want to do it again.

I don't know, i think i've enjoyed-to-loved every single Seinfeld episode outside of the finale.
And i've seen it for the first time last year, so it's not even nostalgia or anything.
