These Best of Show awards never mean anything. There's always tons of contradictions, not everyone was eligible to enter, the votes are inconsistent.

Battlefront and MGS deserve it. They look amazing, especially Battlefront. Could be the game that gets me back into online multiplayer.

Yeah, but TPP is not playable on XB1 at gamescom.

Are you sure? I know they're only demoing the PS4 version during stage shows, but I figured that the Xbox One version was still available on the show floor. If it's not then I don't know what they were going on because Battlefront wasn't even nominated for best of on the Xbox One.

I can't find anything detailing the games available to play in their booth.

How does this make a lick of sense?

Best of gamescom
Star Wars Battlefront (Electronic Arts)

Most Wanted Consumer Award
Star Wars Battlefront (Electronic Arts)

Best Console Game Sony Playstation
Star Wars Battlefront (Electronic Arts)

Best Console Game Microsoft Xbox
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Konami Digital Entertainment)

It's like they have to have PS4 and XB1 have different games and decided to go with the best game overall for PS4 but switch to MGSV for XB1. I guess I shouldn't even waste brain cells on this as show awards are fairly useless IMHO and pretty suspect but still. That's just a zero sense decision.

Haha, maybe they aren't allowed to associate Battlefront with Xbox because of marketing? IDK, doesnt make sense to me.....I just upset that MGSV (though awesome) beat out Halo 5 for best Xbox game.

Yeah, I am pretty sure, Sony has the marketing deal.

Seriously? Not saying MGSV won't be awesome, but in my honest opinion Scalebound and Crackdown 3 were more special in this even by now. Specially Crackdown 3 for its tech.

Only my humble opinion though.

Games have to be released in a certain time period in order to be considered for an award. I'm pretty sure Scalebound wasn't eligible.

Dont get the "wii" thing, just seems disrespectful to not get it right?

Also amazed nintendo won in a handheld category, I feel thats nearly always given to some random mobile game.

Ah I see. Looks so stupid.

Winners so far have been Zelda, Zelda, Scribblenauts, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Darkblade and now Zelda again. One random mobile game lol

A star wars FPS winning all the awards? Good to see such a niche title getting recognition
:^)

Has been 4 years since the last one lol

These awards are so stupid. awarding games in a genre they are not in, giving best on console awards to 3rd party games.

Scalebound's demo was boring though. Nothing specifically impressive. Crackdown's tech was nice but we still dont have an idea of how the game plays and how the tech will influence gameplay.

Remember that awards are meaningless to most people.

Publishers have something to add in their press releases and to violate their GOTY editions with.

Press can run around and put their stupid stickers on walls (free press yay) and if you're great enough to be part of the jury you can feel superior to those other pesky journalists yay.

Developers get feedback to their demo. That's the only thing I can't be cynical about since they really want and need it. I feel like there are other and better ways to get that feedback though. But it's validation for your work, even if it is a dumb award.

Please do notice how it also says Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. It's by family name, not specific device. The Wii U is part of the Wii family, just like the PS4 is part of the PlayStation family.

So that means that the Xbox 360 version of MGS V won best Xbox game? Got it.

Thank you for writing what I wanted to. There clearly is no 4 or One either. Doesn't mean they confused the original Playstation and Xbox.

Is Unravel real time or turn based strategy? Hoping for the latter as I prefer turn based games.

The jury consists of:

Florian Böhme (Amazon), Uke Bosse (Reload), Igor Boyko (NIM), Guy Cocker (u.a. BBC, Wired), Michael French (MCV & Develop, Intent Media), Manuel Fritsch (Insert Moin), Petra Fröhlich (Funfair Media), Andreas Garbe (heute-journal), John Gaudiosi (Fortune), Heiko Gogolin (Riesenbuhei Ent.), Andrew Goldfarb (IGN US), Maxi Gräff (High5, Webedia), Tino Hahn (GIGA digital), Joachim Hesse (spieletipps), René Heuser (IGN Germany, Webedia), Heiko Klinge (Gamestar/Gamepro/Making Games), Bertram Küster (Spiele Bild), René Meyer (Die Schreibfabrik), Ian Morris (Everybody Plays), Florian „LeFloid“ Mundt, Max „Frodoapparat“ Krüger, Claudio Prandoni (UOL jogos), Valentin „Sarazar“ Rahmel, Eric „Gronkh“ Range, Dennis Richtarski (Rocketbeans TV), Marco Accordi Rickards (Idra Editing), Peter „Piet Smiet“ Smits, Christian „Chris“ Stachelhaus (Piet Smiet) and Claudio Todeschini (The Games Machine).

Seems odd to have an American juror.

On a Gamescom where Stellaris was unveiled giving Unravel Best Strategy Game of the Show is absurd. And I love what I read and saw from Unravel.
