Spoiler thread here

STASIS is a point-and-click, sci-fi, horror adventure game played from a unique isometric perspective. STASIS intertwines a gruesome narrative with retro adventure gameplay. Combine items, interact with computers and solve puzzles while experiencing the gritty atmosphere.

In the distant future, aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft, John Maracheck awakes from stasis. He must push himself to new physical and emotional limits and unravel the mysteries around him.

John is in tremendous pain, his wife and daughter are missing, and time is running out as the Groomlake plunges further into the swirling blue methane clouds of Neptune.

Inspired and influenced by Alien, Event Horizon, Sunshine, Pandorum, The Black Hole, The Dig, Sanitarium, Dead Space, System Shock
  • A compelling dystopian narrative intertwines this mature adventure tale. Access computer terminals and engage with the environment like never before. A great deal of character backstory and information can also be found on the PDAs littered around the corpses aboard the Groomlake.
  • Click, read and interact to explore the dark corners of the Groomlake, to gather inventory items and clues to help solve puzzles to progress further.
  • STASIS has an isometric visual aesthetic that brings a new angle to adventure games. Each scene has been individually detailed and created to craft the perfect backdrop for the gloomy adventure. While uniquely isometric, be ready for riveting cut scenes.
  • The story unfolds with professional voice acting and a rising score - emotive on both accounts. The talented voice artists build up the depth of each the characters that you'll meet.
  • The legendary Mark Morgan (Wasteland 2, Fallout) has created a moving score, steeped in fear and emotion. Additional music has been penned by Daniel Sadowski (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Warhammer) who has given the soundtrack a unique cinematic edge.

STASIS is one of the most memorable experiences I've had from gaming in quite a while. Some puzzles can be frustratingly obtuse, but the majority are a pleasure to solve. The game will take most people between six to ten hours to complete, depending on puzzle-solving skill, and just about every moment is sure to stick with the player in some way. STASIS is a game that is not to be missed by anyone craving an eerie and sinister experience.

"STASIS is undoubtedly the gem of independent games and one of the best productions I had the opportunity to play this year."
Lazygamer - 9/10
Terrifying, challenging and disturbing, STASIS is a nightmarish descent into the unknown and the kind of horror game that stays with you even when the end credits have rolled.
IGN (Africa) review - 9/10
More than five years in the making, Stasis is an extraordinary testament to the ambition and genre genius of creator Chris Bischoff and his colleagues. It's more than just "good for an indie game", it's a mandatory experience for fans of sci-fi horror
RockPaperShotgun - No score
Despite some characterisation wobbles and a somewhat perfunctory final mile, STASIS is the best adventure game I’ve played in years. It’s also one of the most impressive horror games I’ve played lately. The tiny team behind it have done remarkable things, far in excess of what many, much larger studios seem capable of. Those studios should be afraid – be very afraid.
Indie Games - No score
As an unsettling experience with some interesting puzzles, Stasis will please. Its huge halls and complex machinery look great, giving a sense of imminent death coming from lousy work on behalf of the safety committee. The writing is filled with little hidden gems of great characterization, and does some interesting things with the plot even though it does feel like it's ground that's been tread a little too often before. Stasis is a solid point-and-click game with some fun additions to keep players on their toes. Even if it doesn't frighten its players, it will make them uncomfortable as they wander the bloody halls, wondering if their next mistake will be their last.
More to be added soon

Excited, interested due to the Sanitarium comparisons. That game was a big standout for me in the days of gaming yore. It's a good season for horror (this, Soma, Layers of Fear).

Here are some tantilizing Twitter teases from people currently playing it:
I just finished Stasis. That was some fucked up shit. The best kind of fucked up shit.
Compared to Dead Space
It's horrifying in its own, more... personal sort of way.
---
The amount of grey hairs that I've developed since @StasisGame started playing mind-tricks on me is astounding.
---
Love the atmosphere in @StasisGame. It seems all fun & games until things get a lil unnerving. And then something scares the crap out of you
---
Ok so first 30 mins of @StasisGame oozing atmosphere, rocketed me back to the 90s in all the right ways.
Some late night time @StasisGame. So thick with atmosphere.
---
@StasisGame holy fuck I almost had a heart attack! Shame on you!
---
Playing @StasisGame...and oh fuck, I have to do what? I think this just might top Dead Space 2's eye needle moment
---
Finished @StasisGame this morning, still ruminating. Tis a good feeling.

I remember seeing this on kickstarter and forgot to back it before it ran out.

So definitely going to check it out now.

Sanitarium is one of my favorite adventure games (and also one of the creepiest games of all time imo), and Alien Isolation was the best Alien game by far.

Looking forward to it on Tuesday, still haven't beaten Peacewalker, so I'll play this before the other big game that day.

Played the demo last year and I can already feel the Sanitarium inspiration. Despite being a p-n-c adventure, there is a sense of dread and urgency I don't find in most AAA games. Goes to show that the medium is all about presentation than just stock features. Can't wait.

Is this coming on mobile as well or just PC?

I'm about 5 hours in myself, currently stumped at a part

It's just fantastic so far. The atmosphere and sound design is incredible. The puzzles are pretty logical for the most part. The horror comes less from jump scares, and mostly from constant unease, tension, and disturbing fucked-up visuals and situations. A lot of documents and logs that flesh out the world

Dev said an iPad release is definitely possible, depends on how the game does on PC

"Stasis delivers something truly special that conjures up all the best parts of classic adventure games. Make no mistake… unless you have issues with blood/violence, you shouldn’t miss out on this love letter to traditional adventure games, because it’s disturbing, engrossing and above all, excellent."

To sum up this pre-release review, STASIS is undoubtedly the gem of independent games and one of the best productions in which I had the opportunity to play this year. [...] Without a moment's hesitation I would recommend both lovers of the genre, and in love with science fiction convention maniacs who do not like [adventure games]. Definitely worth it.

The Game Slashers

http://thegameslashers.blogspot.com/2015/08/stasis-review.html?spref=tw

"STASIS is at the border between old and new. The transposition of the usual sidescrolling camera to a fixed isometric camera has the same general purpose just with another perspective that serves the narrative in a different way. The point and click mechanic, the pixel hunting and the puzzles are just a number of elements that remind me of adventure games of a different time, when this genre was focused on brainteasers and not a story driven cinematic experience (and by cinematic I don’t mean locked at 30fps!!!). But the game doesn’t go out of its way to address nostalgia. The fully voice acted dialogues and the full motion video cut scenes bring the game to a more up to date standard.
As a horror game it takes inspiration from movies like Alien or Sunshine and applies the theme of being trapped on a space ship with something dangerous on board extremely well. It builds suspense and mystery through storytelling and the use of gore, sound and the fight for survival without having to fight anything.
Looking backwards and analyzing the elements of this game, STASIS is at a transitional point between the two predominant styles of adventure games (with a little more focus on the retro style) and this might be the key to satisfy both the old school and the newer fans of the genre."

I don't know how long it's been since this was first on my radar, but I was to say it's been about 5 years now. Holy shit, I hope it's as good as it looks.

Didn't even know this existed until now, but wow. Looks incredible; I'm so excited to dive into it.

Is there any benefit to buying on GoG instead of Steam?

Got the Expanded KS-version so enjoying the eerie soundtrack now. Steam unlock still half a day off. Hope to see some high profile reviews as the game deserves more attention and this period is unfortunately crammed with high-profile releases.

So there's no combat or stealth elements to this? Can you die when just walking around the world?

I'm asking because I hate stealth horror with insta-death.

Price will be $19 for the launch week and $24 after.

Timing - It will be today (10 hours from now). :D We are just getting the last of our ducks in a row!

How large is the download from Steam? Contemplating if I should go into my work and download it if it is to large.

I played the game on the weekend. It's brilliant. Very intense and some disturbing scenes but highly recommended.
Glad to see the first positive reviews.

Fuck it, I want to support stuff like this, so I ended up pre-ordering it despite being blind and not having the time to play it until 2 months from now

Cross posting my thoughts from the older Stasis thread:

I've also been playing through this and it's fantastic. It's like Alien meets Saw. Really great atmosphere and some of the most uncomfortable sound design I've ever heard. I literally had to back out of reading documents in the game because I felt vulnerable not being able to see my surroundings. Definitely worth checking out with a quality engaging narrative, logical and rewarding puzzles and some truly gruesome deaths.

But yeah. Enjoying it immensely and not sure how long I have left. If you're a fan of point & click you should check this out. Alternatively, if you're not too familiar with point & click and just want a fun, intensely atmospheric thriller with horror and sci-fi elements, still check this out.

Wow, this came out of nowhere. Seems my perfect cup of tea. Will buy, will play, will finish!

Mouse and keyboard only, I guess?

How's the UI? Scalable\readable from a distance? I play on an HDTV from about 6ft back. Sanitarium mention has me all kinds of interested.

I'm not a huge point&click fan, but still interested in this for the isometric angle.

Something about isometric view gives a better feel of the character actually inhabiting a physical space than the side view of 2D adventure games or the new cinematic ones that look like TV shows. I feel a little detached from the action when I play those. Is it just me?

Just hoping it's not like Sanitarium and it ends up spending its' final two acts in a superhero and Ancient Mayan setting. Think that's a safe bet.
