How is everyone's PSN download speeds with PS4 3.00 FW?

Started my FIFA 16 download, awful slow. Pause restart and it was fine, rest and it was blazing fast. Same as normal for me I'm afraid.

It was at the usual slow pace but I also had Destiny running in the background. Closed that, hit pause and resume on the download and now it went down to 100 minutes for a 5 GB download (Uncharted Collection). It was saying 6-8 hours previously before the pause/resume. Even 100 minutes is slow but it's a faster rate than I've gotten on PSN for a while.

I'm gonna try deleting something and redownloading it.

This has been my biggest psn gripe for a while now. With 175mbit internet it would still take me hours and hours to get games. I'd be happy pulling 20 MB/S from sony's servers, but it was often closer to 2-3MB/S

-edit- Taking a while to ramp up, but it's already up to 10MB/s, which is a ton better than anything I saw before.

Everyone should do the following:
  • Tell us what speed your ISP sells you.
  • Do a speed test on your PC and report the speed.
  • Do an internet connection test on your PS4 and report that speed.
  • And tell us if you notice any improvement.

Didn't notice much of a difference from PS4, but PS3 definitely got faster somehow. I thought it was because I wired it in, though.

- 100/100 (I believe)
- 70/60
- 55/45 (but fluctuates heavily, sometimes reports 70 but mostly hovers around 60)
- Yes, speed roughly doubled. From 4-5 MB per sec to about 8-9.

Much better. One of the best things about the latest update.

Edit - The NFS beta is taking an age to download. Hope it's a one off.

- Out of a sample size of 2, my speed has improved.
I'll see what happens when Battlefront beta launches next week, though.

10mb/s
9.8mb/s
9.7mb/s

None.

During the evening (1700-0000) my ISP throttles any download activity to a max 300kb/s per device downloading, and priorities for streaming or videophone services. Any time outside these hours if the only thing I've been running is the quad download speed has always maxed out at my peak speed or thereabouts.

Not home so can't run a speed test, but it's insanely fast now. Only took minutes to download the uncharted demo, when before it would cap at around 500KB/s using gigabit download.

Also remember that internet speeds are in bits and file sizes in bytes.

So if you have a 100Mb per second download you will only, in an optimum connection, download 12.5MB per second.

It's 8 megabits to 1 megabyte.

So in speed tests you'll see your speed in bits, but when looking at the download screen on your PS4 the info is in bytes.

Unable to do a test right now, but I am currently downloading FIFA and PES (just for this thread) and it's exactly like it was pre-3.0: mad fast. ^_^ Really glad to hear other people are seeing improvements, though.

Seems quite a bit faster to me. Downloaded Driveclub at 20Gb in couple hours. Would have taken 2x at least before if not longer.

- 10-12 mb/s
- 2-4 mb/s
- no

My ISP says 100mb/s down, 5mb/s up.
My actual speedtest are 100mb/s down, 5mb/s up.
PSN Test is giving me 50mb/s down, 5mb/s up.

I get what PSN says with my PSN download. I downloaded the NFS Beta in 35 minutes, which is roughly 18gb big.

Edit: I have to make more downloads to see if it's actually better, but it looks good for now.

I'll try when I get home, thanks for the heads up OP. I even stated in a post this was the feature I wanted fixed most for 3.0. Here's hoping.

- A moderate improvement from before, but less of an improvement from when I set up my PS4 with a static IP and forwarded the correct ports.

Well, you can't go online with an older fw, can you? So you cant test old fw speeds right now.

Hmm I never thought about that. Well I guess I'll see what I can test before I update and go from there.

Maybe I can use an in-browser speed test or something

I have 152Mbps fiber and have always got 50-62Mbps on my PS4, on my IPad etc I get 143-152Mbps. I fucking hate PSN speeds.

* 70 down / 5 up
* 73 down / 5 up (wired)
* 42 down / 5 up (wifi 2.4ghz)
* no improvement

Even if I stick my ethernet cable into my PS4 i never get full speed. most it will go is around 60 down 5 up.. the upload speed is never affected it's just download speeds. i'm not expecting great speeds over 2.4ghz when my ps4 is upstairs and my router downstairs but with a wired connection surely i'd get full speed?? whatever the problem with the ps4 is related to the download speeds and the poor network part they used. my xb1 which sits right beside my PS4 can connect to my 5GHz signal and gets full speed no bother. well to be fair maybe not FULL speed but damn close 65-70 down which is acceptable considering the distance. i never need to use ethernet with it.

Honestly, I haven't noticed much of a change. At least, not enough of a change to make me stand up and take notice. Download speeds for games still seem random, and still seem to alternate from very fast to very slow.

Amazing, downloads were always slow for me but now they are up to 4-5/mbs (still half of my lines capability, but awesome).

My PSN download speeds just became abysmal after the 3.0 update. I usually had 17.7 Mbit/s downstream und now after the firmware update it takes more than half an hour to download just 16 MB!

What is wrong here? It's so slow, the downstream doesn't even show up in my router's speed monitor.

Also, the game's overview sections in the main menu don't show up either when you press the "down" button like it's supposed to do. And when it does then only a couple seconds later and after multiple button presses. And then it seems to only slowly load the info.

My network setup stayed exactly the same as it was prior to the firmware update.
Seriously Sony, why does it take 45 minutes to download a 16,7 MB theme?

- 70Mbps min, 100Mbps max.
- 63,7Mbps on wireless, would be higher if I could use a wired connection in the other room.
- 57,5Mbps on wired.
- A bit over 60Mbps pre-patch.

The 5GB Nathan Drake Collection demo downloaded in less than an hour, but I wasn't monitoring it so I don't know how fast it was going. But I was surprised it was already done.

  • 55/29 (Fairly consistent)
  • 30/2 (Subsequent tests never broke 14/7)

Not sure what's going on there.

Just confirmed with some friends, everyone is getting insanely fast speeds over here, Steam level.

At least 5 people so just anecdotal evidence but still.

Note: if I'm playing a game gets slower but not much, but best download without playing i guess.

Peace.

Edit: if I do the network test I don't get pc levels of connection but while downloading is pc level, Steam and gamersyde... So it doesn't really matter.

havent tested the speeds yet, but prior to 3.0 if you had an app like Netflix running in the background my speeds were slower.
