Inafune is Ready: Mighty No. 9 won't be delayed anymore, planning to make a sequel

I will never understand the backlash against this game, specially because I keep reading people saying "it's a scam because it doesn't look like this piece of art they never said it was representative of the graphics of the game".

So it's fine to produce something that looks like pile of shit? It's not like they promised anything right?

And gameplay/level design is mediocre at best.

The backlash is because the developer is dumb.
Unnecessary delays, unnecessary related products, and most of all setting up another kickstarter for another game before the already super delayed first game was released.

Pretty terrible PR makes for pretty terrible fan reactions. This isn't rocket science.

I find it amusing how he basically created a project with the sentiment of "Fuck you Capcom" being the driving force for the $4 million funding. Now he has pissed away the good will he got from that initial kickstarter and with Red Ash bombing, it's unlikely he'll be able to get another kickstarter funded in the near future

I'm pretty sure all the backers that played the demo and hacked the way to play the rest of the game would like them to delay the game until they put out something more visually and mechanically appealing than an XBLA game.

Maybe I can get my mighty Gunvolt code when I back MN9 2? /s

Anyways I learned my lesson, bad communication, bad planning, sub par end result.

-"Mighty No. 9 absolutely will not be delayed."
-"One of the reason of the delay is because of the numbers of platform."
-"How to make the impossible possible like Mega Man."
-"Cannot say it's a complete success yet since it still haven't been released."
-"The game needs to sell a lot of copies and many users playing it."
-"Sequel is planned if it were successful."

"Planning a Sequel" =/= "Planning a Sequel if the first game is well received and sells well"

The first stance seems presumptuous and potentially cocky. The second seems totally logical. However the thread title made me think the first. Bad OP, Bad :(

This is why "Evil" publishers stick their nose into a Game's development. Otherwise it just gets mismanaged with huge delays. And no "Your favorite dev" isn't any different.

I bet they are already working on the sequel, no point in waiting for the first one to release and delay the production.

With how much of a multimedia franchise they're turning this into, do you really think there aren't already plans for sequels?

Seems like he's got a whole franchise mapped out already.

He talks and talks and plans to make big franchises and movies and tv shows and needs more and more money andvoice acting and does another KS for a game and an anime before the first one is out and and

and there's still no game. And what people played of the game is so-so

All people wanted was another cool Mega Man. Not any of this other crap

This isn't Mega Man though so I don't get why this game deserves the type of attention it's getting. Anyone can make a game that plays like Mega Man. Fans have been doing it for years. In fact those fan made games often use Mega Man and you can play them for free.

Launching a game as part of a multi-tier media approach is not an uncommon thing. Remember the Sonic Boom TV show (which I hear is actually decent) that launched with the Sonic Boom game? Or that Viva Pinata TV show that launched with game? That sort of media saturation, assuming they are of high quality, can do a lot to bolster the overall profile of the product and increase sales. It serves as a sort of bed/safety net for the game to launch into. Given that we haven't heard anything about the MN9 TV show in forever, I'm not convinced it hasn't been shelved or put on hiatus for a while though - we would know more about it if it were to launch in February. Planning a sequel, as in a real plan and not just some scribbles on a notebook or napkin, is a different matter all together as that is the "next step", not the launching volley.

When was the game funded again? 2013?

I'm still excited for it even though Gaf seems to hate the game already before its even out.

If only there was a very apt quote by a highly respected game designer which applies perfectly to this situation!

Very generic response tbh. You can use those for any game. Like,

-"Tony Hawk Underground 3 absolutely will not be delayed."
-"One of the reason of the delay is because of the numbers of platform."
-"How to make the impossible possible like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5."
-"Cannot say it's a complete success yet since it still haven't been released."
-"The game needs to sell a lot of copies and many users playing it."
-"Sequel is planned if it were successful."

For real. The only response this thread needs is "no shit."

OH BUT IT"S ABOUT THE MIGHT NO. 9, EVERONE GET YUR SHIT CANENS READI CUZ YOU CAN MAE AREPLY TOO

I backed the game, but all of the delays, post-KS fund begging and the beta nor the demo being playable for anyone but PC-using backers irked me. I'm far less hyped about the game than I was when it was first announced. At this point I'm just sick of hearing about it. It should have been in our hands a month ago. By the time it drops in February, I'm not going to give a crap anymore.

A sequel? At this point, no thank you.

If MN9 is going to spawn a successful multi-media franchise like Inafune is envisioning, it has to end up a better game than what it looks like now... which is pretty much a less clever and more annoying version of MM Powered Up.

Can't wait for his next Kickstarter which will delay the game again.
I hope he's not silly enough to try and kickstart the sequel. That would be the easiest way to get a horrid backlash.
All the money he got through crowdfunding isn't enough to pay the budget of a game with a decent team size -including several gamedev stars- like this. It isn't made by 3 teenagers who live with their parents.

So unless game sells decently they won't have money for the sequel unless a publisher helps.

It just looks like a game that fits that description. Noogy is one man and Dust makes MN9 look like amateur hour.
