Are Lenovo still using those garbage custom AC plugs?
Hey I kinda like those. Much more sure fit than the round plugs.
Are Lenovo still using those garbage custom AC plugs?
Well thanks for that nugget...
Anyways, here's a quick video of my first sketch test with the Yoga 14.
https://youtu.be/puFE9-luWzc
There still seems to be a hefty delay on the stylus. Is that also present with regular note-taking?
Thanks for the vid man. Are you using something underneath to give it any angle like a drafting board or no?
Cool beans, I was looking into the 460 but saw it wasn't launching until next year in NA.
Not the highest spec one, but it looks like it performs well in your video and TBH I'm just going to use it for word processing, drawing, and playing games that shouldn't put much stress on it (visual novels, point-and-click adventures, indies).
Please keep the thread updated on any pros, cons, comments etc as you keep using it, Shogmaster.
Lenovo is just a tiny step up from being one of those Visio or Westinghouse brands.
So no i7 config?
Where is the info / press release saying a Jan NA release? Does that include Canada? They didn't even bother releasing the previous version here.
Also, thanks for the video Shog, really torn on what to get now
Most of those "positives" are just compromises you have to deal with. Surface book is much nicer than this.
The 3520M in the X230 was a 35W processor. This Yoga employs 15W processor. I think your X230 would bench better slightly. The reason to replace it is if only you need a discrete GPU for GPU accelerated tasks, and of course, the bigger and higher resolution screen.
Goin to bestbuy on friday, hopefully can try it out, might just go ahead and buy one. Thing looks like it'll be great for drawing on.
The pack in pen is pretty damn tiny. I ordered a much bigger pen powered by AAAA battery from Lenovo. I'll do another video for you with that pen. I think you will need to order that pen if you go with this tablet. It was $40.
I got the X230 tablet due to your previous thread a few years back for my art work and it continues to be a great laptop for my art/designing, so thank you for that thread and this one. I'm actually looking for an upgrade and was thinking about the Surface, but this seems like a great alternative also.
Damn I was just in Best Buy yesterday. Wish I saw this thread earlier.
Shog you devil dog... Starting in July I've had three different Surface Pro 3s. Finally kept the third one but just sold it to buy the SP4. The arrives today in the mail. Guess I'll have to just see if the SP4 is fine for me, but I definitely want to try this Lenovo out. The Wacom pen definitely intrigues me as the SP3 pen is too shaky for me when drawing slowly.
Got the m3 SP4 for $865 after tax. I have a 10% Best Buy mover's coupon and could get this Lenovo for ~$965. $100 more for twice the RAM, twice the storage, faster processor, and potentially better pen? My GF is going to think I'm crazy if I return the SP4...
does anyone of a link to this spyware nonsense? I somehow missed that.
I prefer the nub over the trackpad.I've tried the nipple and feel that it is a vastly inferior control method to a good trackpad.
If you have a poor trackpad then the nipple comes into its own.
Nipples that, when tapped, register as clicks are the WORST though. I usually pull out those nipples in order to reduce the number of erroneous mouseclicks that move the focus to somewhere else on my screen and fuck up whatever it is I'm typing.
Edit: I typically call them nubs.
the trackpad is serviceable, nothing more
the keyboard is great. one of the better laptop keyboards out there.
you got receipts for that?
Do you know what the srgb coverage is? and the contrast ratio?
If it's using the same panel as last year's model (probably is), it's 91% sRGB, and 71% Adobe RGB. 700:1 contrast ratio. 300 nits.
My mom needs a new laptop so I went to Lenovo's website like a month ago. This is laughably ridiculous:
I just closed the site and went to Microsoft.com instead.
*edit*
This is the main splash screen if you go to "Laptops" on Lenovo.com. Not like "view all models" or anything... Just Lenovo -> Laptops:
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/?menu-id=laptops
I think it's actually gotten worse... they've added more models.
Oh no... choice!
Oh no... choice!
Should just be more like Apple. Just have 1 model shoved down your throat.

Tell any normal person to try and figure out the differences between those. That's a nightmare.
This has never actually been true, and is especially not true today. But, yes, Apple is the best in industry example on how to sell laptops. It's one of the reasons why Apple is traded at $120/share and Lenovo is $7/share.
I'm sorry, but Apple having higher stocks than Lenovo is not because of this reason. Please stop.
This has never actually been true, and is especially not true today. Apple has traditionally had 3 clear laptop lines, MacBook (general use), MacBook Air (focused on mobility), and MacBook Pro (focused on professionals), although they've muddled it slightly with the new MacBook. But, yes, Apple is the best in industry example on how to sell laptops. It's one of the reasons why Apple is traded at $120/share and Lenovo is $7/share, with a net income decline of some 50% year-over-year.
HEll, I'm not even a 'normal' person.. I'm a tech person who uses Lenovo PCs at work. I had a rough idea of what I was looking for... the X1 Carbon, but when looking at other models, I just had absolutely no idea what was a new model from 2015 and what was some old junk. The variety of prices, inconsistent descriptions, and all else, just made no sense. Even when clicking into a series, you get laptops that look different, with different descriptions, and inconsistent prices...
(Unpictured, another T series laptop at the bottom of this page at another random price).
There is no rhyme or reason to the numbering or lettering. You'd think... Left to right, Less expensive on left, more expensive on right. But, nope. Then you'd think, oh, higher numbers mean more expensive better models? Nope. Oh, maybe the P models are better than the non-P models. Nope. Maybe the S model is the best? I guess...?
Oh no... choice!
That's fine if you find their branding confusing or layout unorganized; I was more just replying to the fact that you would jump entire brands because of it, since I find that baffling. If Lenovo is what you want, then you'd do some research and find what you want (just using the search functionality on the left would probably help you out). Browsing based on image / description is a foreign idea to me, most people I've known or seen either ask an 'expert', read reviews, compare and contrast specs or go with that thing they heard about on TV/wherever.
Let's see who had the more accurate post:
Jazzy Network: Apple only sells 1 model of laptop (Factually, universally incorrect)
Me: One of the reasons Apple's stock is high is because they have best-in-industry sales platform strategies (Undeniably true)
You have proof that's one of the reasons their stock is up yeah?
Apple's got you. iPad Pro.
No, you're right, there's more proof that Apple only sells 1 model of laptop than that their widely considered best-in-industry platform lineup helps their bottom line. Good point.
(but just to be clear, I wasn't even bringing up Apple... you did. I was saying that Lenovo's horrible website stands apart from itself in probably being a business case on how not to make a website)
Cool so we can agree your post wasn't fact. Great!
I don't even know why I'm feeding you, but if you ever want to grow up from being more than an internet troll (which, you probably shouldn't, it's likely the thing that you're best at), I would encourage you to Google things like "Apple product line strategy" and "Apple product marketing strategy," and you can read many business cases about why Apple's product line and product marketing strategies are considered best-in-industry. Now, admittedly, no business analyst would say "This is the lone reason why Apple is successful" (which isn't what I said either), but also, nearly every business analyst would agree that Apple's clear, simple product line and product marketing strategy has contributed to their success and growth over the last 10 years.
But, I suppose if you're willing to sign up for the Defenseforce of "Lenovo's Product Listing Webpage," then, well, that's probably a bit too much for you to grasp. Keep on believing that Apple only has 1 computer model, probably makes for a more comfortable world.
So don't go posting things like "Oh yea mine was a fact yours isn't" when there are no facts and spouting shit like stock prices when no one cares. Maybe then I can take you a bit seriously.
FYI I don't give a shit about Lenovo and never owned any of their products. I'm well aware how Apple makes their money.
