Fatal Frame / Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water |OT| Pokémon Snap U: After Dark

I am worried for the future of Fatal Frame now that Iwata's gone. Anyone know how much of Iwata's influence was it that pushed for these niche titles?

I honestly hope they break off from Nintendo for the next game less bullshit. It's been hell being a Fatal Frame fan in America since the series started coming out exclusively on their consoles.

do you honestly think KT would have made another FF after 3 without someone else footing the bill

with those shit sales? don't think so

That's true but this wouldn't be a problem if they made region free consoles. Being a Yakuza fan is just as painful but I still have the option of importing and putting in the time to learn the language.

Impossible to know. These outside collabs were handled by Nintendo SPD under Shinya Takahashi with Hitoshi Yamagami overseeing most of them (the FF games were handled by other Nintendo producers though, from SPD Group 4). One would think they just went out and made the deals as per usual.

Been a while since I've read them but maybe something's in here:

Finished all missions yesterday night. I wouldn't say it was everything I wanted and more, but it was in line with my (high) expectations as a long time fan of the series. If I were to make a top right now I'd probably put it has my third favorite entry right behind 2 and 3 (with 3 being my favorite one). The story is not quite as pulling as those 2, it's also less scarry I'd wager, and much easier than 3 in particular, and despite similar structure to 3 the house/hounted place dynamic is not quite as well executed
the in house missions are probably the worst in the game
, but it has the biggest variety of creepy places in the series, its longer than any other entry and it controls the 'best' outside of taking out flash and placing a dodge in B, that was a mistake imo.

Some spoilers:

Tall woman is probably the single most scarry ghost in this game and it goes straight into my most memorable list next to the likes of the blind woman in ff1 and Kusabi, Im scared of big women.
Also, wtf Miku, I thought you had overcome the brocon during 3 but noooo. You did that during 3 when I was saving everyone... except for Kei I guess.
And I want a game where Rei saves everyone again.
Also dr aso keeps his rampage of ruining every one's life lol

I still have to do the Ayane chapter too and get the other endings, not sure Ill do nightmare difficulty? Which brings me to my next issue which is a bit OT. I bought the wiiu almost exclusively for this game and now I don't have much to do with it lol, maybe Ill trade it in for a PS4 that have many more games I want/will want to play. I also have Splatoon not being a big competitive multiplayer guy. Its fun, but I usualy get more salty than anything so it ends not being that much fun (it is an excelent game). Also got bayonetta 2 that have already completed and monster hunter 3, but I have no one to play with nor have the patience too dedicate myself to hunting games.

Anyway, if you are a fan of the older Fatal Frame entries you will definitely enjoy this game. If you didn't care for them in the past there is nothing here for you.
Personally to me it's like a circle, back in the day it was Fatal Frame that got me into horror 'anything' and now coming back it's feels like returning to that old house you love to hate. I just hope it doesn't end here.

I hope you've played ZombiU before you sell the thing at the very least.

I normally love instant death run sequences in horror games and maybe I just suck but that one was awful.

If you happen to live in Europe you can still get the Wiimake of Crimson Butterfly. It has a few new twists and turns spread through the game to keep it fresh if you already played the origin on PS2 or Xbox.

Kind of a tangent but I just received another copy of the game gifted by amazon after a kinda sketchy hiccup they had with my initial order (long story short, I asked them to split an order and they cancelled it instead) and I don't know whether I should hold on to it or sell it. help

Personally I say keep it. But that's just me.

Just started Drop 4 and I really like the look of the game. Especially the lightning.

Loving the game so far. The voice acting is pretty terrible, which is a real shame, but otherwise it's classic Fatal Frame.

I would have preferred either the original JP voice track or a similar localisation to PZ2Wii, but it's not game ruining. The white haired girl sounds particularly awful though.

Well, just switch to JP voices in the options?

But you can change the voices to Japanese in option.

Started drop 9, but called it a night.

Drop 8 spoilers;

- Hojo, bro, you had one job: protecting the young ladies. Terrible.
- Btw, did my eyes deceive me? I thought I saw Haruka returning to the antique store? She walked kind of funny, so I assume she's being controlled. Can anyone confirm this?
- Fighting ghosts in such cramped spaces... exciting!
- Man those ghosts can linger for a while.

No way anyone in their right mind would walk through [DROP 4 SPOILERS]
a creepy as fuck doll shrine and then into a cave CALLED WOMB CAVERN. Come on. Stop trying to find these people!

The game just gets better and better. Fucking creepy.

GAF sure likes to spread that hella wrong info around

Nintendo owns that shitty Spirit Camera IP and they have publishing rights and probably the code to PZ2 Wii, 4 and 5

maybe I'm wrong too but still closer to the truth than straight up saying Nintendo co-owns the series
She's what made me switch over.

she was the worst of the lot but even then I wouldn't say she did any worse than average

Thank that random horror game fansite article for that which had zero sources to back them up. That's where that stuff comes from.

I think that original report came from someone who posts here on GAF. Even now, I still see other news sites report that Nintendo owns or co-owns the copyright.

I meant this one: http://www.relyonhorror.com/latest-...frame-ip-now-officially-co-owned-by-nintendo/

All the other news sites just go on to cite this site.

Yeah, I wasn't clear. I remember seeing a post here on GAF that mentioned the creator of the article that was cited everywhere was a poster here.

Just installed the demo yesterday and I'm really excited to try it out later tonight. I'm still looking forward to this and might end up picking the full game after the demo.

I'm happy my girl Hisoka is fine!
Also making sure I understand this right
Miku was just chilling in that box for 14 years?

Finally managed to start this game. Played through drop 2 and that
Himino boss fight got to me. Was really unnerving experience.
Really liking the gameplay even though it feels rather janky. This is my first FF/PZ game so was wondering if I should go back to playing the other games. Also will I be lost with the story or are these games standalone?

Totally worth playing them! I haven't played it but I think 4 is the only that's not connected to the other games. Still you'll be fine jumping in with this they don't rely on you having played the other games.

Yes, I think so. They say multiple timesthat you are not dead nor alive as a pillar

Just finished Ayane chapters. Well, those are shit. I don't think my idea of Project Zero is running away from ghost controlling a.. big... ninja.

I love Ayane but those being stealth based didn't sound all that fun to me.

I finished the game yesterday and... It was pretty mediocre. It was my first real Fatal Frame game, my previous experience was watching my brother play the PS2 games. The game doesn't excel at being a good Fatal Frame game or a good adventure game. It's not scary, I never felt unpowered against the ghosts and the controls are a mess.

I felt bothered at a few ghosts showing up randomly, which towards the end of the game, I'd escape from all of them that didn't block my way forward. The encounters in small rooms are the worst, specially towards the end of the game that, again, they just throw you the fastest ghosts that jump at you, one after the other, never giving you enough time to get up, open the camera and take a picture. The characters feel stiffed and I could never walk freely as I wanted to.

It was a fine experience, but if I could go back, I think I wouldn't have bothered buying the game. There are other games I'd have bought with that money instead.

Selling it wouldn't be a bad idea but I can see the game going up in value in the coming years so keeping a sealed in box copy is more of an investment.

He probably has a higher horror tolerance than me but I still found the gameplay fantastic and using the gamepad never got old.

I'm pretty chicken when it comes to horror games, I can barely play games like Amnesia and others from the genre. I think that what removed the horror from me was that I never felt weak or powerless against the ghosts. It was just getting your camera up, lock the enemy and wait for a fatal frame.

Look harder in the options menu, you can change the voice track to Japanese.

I know what you mean. For me FF games are almost always about what the story does, how they incorporate folklore into it, and the overall terrifying atmosphere that just lingers.

The combat stuff is never something that does it for me, but I'm enjoying it a lot more on the gamepad.
