Doesn't a veteran kill his attacker?

No, I meant verteran as in returning player.

As for Darryl, I actually encourage this style of play. Going agro put's the scum team off balance, and that's the only way we are going to really get anywhere on day one.

Same mindset that whips the town into a flurry, leading to a lynching of a beneficial power role.

Some light feelings,

People that are good for town currently:

Flux
Darryl
CB

I'm weary of:

Andodalf - has made some weird slips and said some things i find confusing, but it could be new guy jitters.
El Topo - Can't read El Topo well, so I'm always unsure of him.
StarSketch - A No Lynch on a day 1 after a night of no kills? Will we ever end this game? Hope she changes her mind

Nulls:

Everyone else. I'm passing this round, so

VOTE: RobotNinjaHornets

We haven't played together yet, but let that not phase you my friend.

Any thoughts on top/bottom people so far in the early day?

Let's discuss!

Ah, gotcha. I think that's a fair assumption, it would be seen as a dick move to blindly kill a new player.

I mean I'll lynch a new guy if they rub me the wrong way during a D1 phase, but it feels a lot worse on an opening night when they've not said or done anything.

RNG doesn't discriminate, but hell it doesn't make me feel any better.

Honestly, I haven't really had time to mull over things yet, I've mostly just been doing dumb posts when I should be working. I'll be at home in a couple of hours, I'll see if I can get a read on anyone then.

Going aggro is an amazing way to lose the game Day 1

Not if it's controlled. It is very dangerous if misguided, yes, but when done properly, such as not calling for everyone to vote for someone right away, then it can actually be very beneficial in the long run.

Take GAF Mafia for example, town killed two scum in a row because of going aggro on those who they deemed suspicious, including day one.

Unless Darryl is pulling some reverse tactics with their "random vote pressure" stance, I already know their aggression is misguided because they're aiming at me.

And I know that means nothing and I could be a werewolf regardless, but their only defense as to why they think I'm suspicious is because "you're suspicious." I'm not buying that this strategy is being used properly here.

Unfortunately, it's day one, so that's all we have to work with. I mean, yeah, we do have SOME night actions due to the night start, but the power roles who know that information also know that now is not the time to come forward with it, lest they get killed by the woofs.

Getting people to talk in general is a fine strategy, but really the most important thing is getting people to vote and suspect/clear other people. That lets you construct a web of players and note who mentioned/voted for who, who has specifically avoided doing those things towards people etc. Voting is especially important as we move towards someone getting lynched.

Obviously anything you read into from the Wolves, especially once someone's identity is confirmed, is going to be judged though the window of WIFOM, but all those votes and mentions and stuff will still be something you can look at and at least make a guess about stuff.

I still have no real read on anyone other than a handful of half arsed assumptions, though Darryl and Flux are going places.

For only having one vote against you, you seem to have quite the truculent attitude.

Just out of curiosity, but can I hear your reasoning for having CB on there? Flux and Darryl I think I understand, especially with the "Darryl gonna Daryl" comments people just made, but not him.

So these are not really town reads, more like value at the current stage. I think these three guys will expand discussion and probe others when necessary. CB is super active and loves posting his thoughts on everything, and then posts his thoughts on his thoughts, and then his doubts on his thoughts.

It gets a bit messy, but I always welcome people being as open as possible, because the more you throw out there, the more everyone can digest it and pick up on things, good or bad, town or scum, that can help town as a whole.

It's a fine balance of both collecting enough information to help the town and simultaneously trying to lay as low as possible

I see. I thought his game theory post sounded a bit odd back on the last few pages. Not in the sense that he might be scum, but in the sense that it was a bit odd of a theory to bring up given this is a closed setup game and one wouldn't know the role present.

Well everyone has their different playstyles, but I feel active people are great in the early stages. Which is where we're at.

I was going to completely ignore it at first so it could be glossed over and that some bandwagon (dangerous stuff) didn't start so early, but this from cabot convinced me to interject:
There's been a lot of cases of people reacting from votes, which helps in deducing reads.

I will never endorse silence, it's anti-town.
Even if it pushes me into the spotlight, it doesn't matter if it's for the benefit of the town as a whole. So what I did was ask one simple thing: "why?"

It's Darryl's subsequent response:
I voted for you because you're scum. Obviously. You know you're scum. I know it. Every post you make reeks of it.
That really made me question them and what exactly they're trying to do. I would have attempted to deconstruct their argument for anything else, but just look at that reply and combine it with the things that they've said previously in this thread.

I want to hear more from Darryl, and I have no reason to sit idly by when someone isn't being flippant about a vote and seriously seems to believe it, and I'm the target.

I like you Flux, and I hope when you realize Darryl won't give a fuck, you won't be hit hard and continue doing what you're doing..

also Sophia, yeah CB's theory was pretty whack, but he's been contributing so far, which is important.

Speaking of activity, I'd really like to see other newbies such as Rolanderson or Style post more. I call those two out specifically because they each have posted all of one post since the game started.

On point! I just wanted to confirm your thoughts on all that and after seeing them I can safely say that you are removed from my Day1 possible scum list...for the time being.

You're scum because you don't give a fuck about town. You're in self-preservation mode hardcore. Nothing you are saying is town or in the interest of helping town. You just want me to fuck off because I'm onto you and you don't believe you deserve it. You don't want to be blindly shot day #1.

Bringing up garbage points you don't fully understand ("you slipped up on your list!"). Do you even understand the methodology behind the list? You don't even care, because as far as you're concerned it only matters whether or not you're on it. So instead its easier to discredit the list, and me.

You're scum. Scum #1 is found. Now who is #2?

I don't have anything substantial to add to the discussion right this second, but Flux does seem very defensive for having only one person suspicious of him.

It may be just me, but my opinion of day one is to draw out suspects instead of defending ourselves from each she every suspicion thrown out. That doesn't really help town a while lot. If you've got multiple votes on you, by all means defend yourself, though. You've got one vote by my count, Flux.

As for Darryl, he seems aggressive as usual.

Literally all of this is made up. If making stuff up, going on about a whole lot of nothing, and not actually serving up evidence isn't a scum tell, I don't know what is.

Which do you think is more anti-town: being overly defensive, or being overly aggressive?

Vote: batsnacks

Why isnt QuestionBro down here in the scum barrel with us when he did something that screams scummy to you?

My votes so far haven't been random, there's one thing they all have in common.

He's in a different list. I only wanted to make the one public.

Is it the Useless Fucking Posters list?

Anyway, here are my reads...

Town:
Darryl
-Putting a big target on hirself, very pro-town
Terrabyte20xx
-Haven't noticed any big changes from his usual play strategy.
cabot
-Going with my strategy of voting to encourage players to participate

Scum:
Andodalf
-Gotten a weird vibe from his posts, though that could be because he's new. His defense of Flux struck me off.
Rolanderson
-Quickly responded to my vote against him, with a very pointless post. He's watching us, but wants to stay out of everything.
FluxWaveZ
-Darryl baited him and it seemed to work. He's also posting quite a lot for a new player.

Players who need to post more:
MattyG
Timeaisis
Gorlak
OceanicAir
GreatLord Tiger

I've never played one of these before, but they certainly sound fascinating. I was glancing at the Danganronpa one while it was happening. Though it fundamentally sounds simple from everything I read in the OP, it still does seem overwhelming. Regardless, I'd be up for participating in this one. I'm good at following rules, anyways.

Being overly defensive, I would think. Remember, two people (RobotNinjaHornets and cabot) just vouched that this appears to be how Darryl plays his game.

You're a new player too, so let me ask you this: do you think we should care that this is how Darryl normally plays if it ends up costing us, and doesn't actually end up in werewolf lynches? There's nothing inherently positive about "this is how things are normally done."

To be other fair, the time I played with Darryl he did end up being evil. But I heard he was basically the same on the good team. So I dunno.

People are saying that this is how I play and it isn't indicative that I'm scum, which is where a town players interest would lay. You don't care, because you're not town and don't have town interests.

I think it is a factor that needs to be taken into consideration, yes. Not everyone will play perfectly, so you need to take into account personality too.

I 100% care, because your random aggression can end up targeting a town member, and not just me. Unless you think that you can't be wrong and that anyone you target is definitely a werewolf. And if people follow you because of that, then we're doomed.

As long as people don't follow your delusional ravings. I don't necessarily think you're a werewolf, either, and since this is how you apparently play, you might very well be on our team.

But there is no way I can just go "lol, it's Darryl being Darryl" after this, and after knowing you actually target allied players this way.

As someone who was Mafia in a season 3 game with Darryl, I'll just say that these types of plays really fuck with the Mafia and get in their heads.
