Grev Releasing Strania on Steam

The PC release says nothing about XB1 BC and the biggest impediment to getting that game on XB1 is MS giving a shit, which isn't likely.

Of course, if the PC version ends up blowing up then things might be different...

Apparently, this is just me here seeing this latest development as a hopeful, positive indicator of plans to support X1 BC, but I'm basically thinking it can work out just as 5pb producer, Masaki Sakari, lobbied for Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds to be included as part of the initial wave of X1 BC titles and, sure enough, it was. I find it difficult to believe that developer and that title could mean significantly more to MS than G.rev and their titles. It looks to me all about whether the publisher is actively pursuing it more than anything to do with MS giving a shit or not, but I guess you've got the inside line on how this actually works. In that case, I hope it registers on their radar with its release on Steam, then.

I hope this bodes well for the XB1 BC release, as well.

Even though I now have a PC I wouldn't have to worry about running this with, I'd still prefer it on X1BC, with it's nice integration of system-native features (Recording, streaming, screenshots, etc ) rather than on PC, personally. "It's on PC now, and could run on a toaster!" doesn't mean PC is a perfect solution for each and every person, y'know?

But I'm ultimately glad it gets a new chance at life. It'll be like a brand new game to much of the PC audience. Hopefullyit gets a chance to shine.

G.rev added a "restart from checkpoint" toggle for the PC port: http://www.grev.co.jp/blog/archives/633

Trying to decide whether to get the DLC for the base game that I already own on 360, or just get the whole package on Steam when it comes out.

Guess this will depend on the balance between new features and technical issues (if any).

Didn't think I was going to buy a game today but here we are.

Strange that it's not listed on the front page.

edit: Max resolution is apparently 1920x1200. Come on guys, it's a 3D game.

Checked it out. The game runs fine. There's some vsync issues going on. I tried forcing it through NVIDIA Control Panel, but it'snot working for me. The game also doesn't seem to work with forced AA either. I'm enjoying it so far other than that. Runs like butter.

If anyone can figure out a way to set it to 1440p, I'd appreciate it. I found an ini file but it's encrypted. The GeDoSaTo options to force native resolution in Mushihimesama don't work here.

Getting tired of ports missing basic features like this.

Just tried to use GeDoSaTo as well and it's a no go.

I can't even force VSYNC. The screen tearing is the biggest issue for me. If anyone figures it out let me know.

I loaded up my 360 copy to remind me of where I got stuck before. NOW I remember.

(I have yet to figure out how to even kill the level 4 boss before time runs out.)

Yeah... I didn't know that the bosses were on timers. The stage 2 boss just flew away from me. Basically just telling me to get gud.

Game is really fun and I love the weapons mechanic.

yooooooooooo they defaulted to CONTINUES OFF take note please

Port runs well for me, butter-smooth in gsync, but I think that the resolution is internally capped at 720p regardless of your setting (and yeah it only upscales to 1200p, silly stuff).

What's weird is that their new "revival" setting (respawn from checkpoints after a continue) is on by default but it obviously won't work if credits are turned off, so I imagine a lot of people will ever know it's even there.

Seriously now?

Is it really surprising at this point?

I guess not. Still disappointing.

I'm tired of making excuses for lousy development practices. I'll be refunding the purchase unless it's patched or someone figures out how to force higher resolutions+higher internal resolutions.

BTW, why would they bother encrypting the game's INI files?

Shame about the upscaling, but otherwise I'm ready to support G.Rev for making the jump to Steam. Hopefully this will go up on Playism or, if it survives the curation process, GOG.

Played some more of this. Man, its good, real good.

This is soooo gonna get overlooked, launching in the midst of the biggest J-shooter push the West has seen perhaps ever (Mushihimesama and Darius sandwich it), also right before the Autumn sale. This might sell negative copies.

But I do like it so, ever so much.

Bought this and, boy, is it hard as hell. How many stages does this have? It can't be that many seeing how difficulty ramps up bloody fast.

With the DLC you basically get 2 games in one, right? 2 campaigns, equally brutal. I tried Side Vower and the first stage alone is tricky as hell, second is madness and the boss destroyed me.

Everyone was a Gundam. And damn if it didn't rock! More G.Rev, please!

Yeah, Side Vower is a different campaign.

Both campaigns have 6 stages plus a TLB stage which can only be accessed on Hard/Expert difficulty; there are no continues during the TLB, so if you lose all your lives at the end, that's it, game over.

Ver.1.02 Patch details

Added file “strania.ini” to the install folder – increases settings options

File “strania.ini” has been added to the install folder (C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Strania -The Stella Machina - ). This file allows the following settings to be adjusted.
