Any Wii U owners pissed off the console is getting replaced soon?

NX will likely be revealed before I get around to buying a WiiU... and I WILL buy a WiiU.

Unless XenobladeX reviews are crap, but I doubt that will happen. It appears the West may enjoy it more than Japan did.

I'm pissed off at the lack of preparation. I'm glad that each year there will be a couple great titles but the console is completely lacking in support. It also seems that Nintendo had a really tough time transitioning into the HD generation with constant delays or rushed titles (Mario Tennis a sad example).

Like the only thing this year that looked interesting to me was Splatoon (did not buy), Mario Maker (might buy), Yoshi's Wooly Wooly World (maybe buy. Would if there was a price drop but this is Nintendo so possibly a no buy), Xenoblade X (will buy)

Also, two Zelda remasters before a new Zelda game? That's disappointing. I know, it appears the next Zelda is going to be Wii U and NX launch but it doesn't make me happy that as a Wii U customer I'm being treated like this. No regrets owning the system. Just a lot of the small things like PRICE (I'm tired of Nintendo tax and will not buy NX anytime soon if they keep games prices at obscene premium. Especially here in Europe), REGION LOCKING, POOR ONLINE, NO THIRD PARTY SUPPORT (lack of variety) that really suck.

Disappointed is the better word for it in my case. I got a lot of enjoyment out of it (Bayo 2, SM3DW, MK8, others) and will be getting more in the future (XCX, #FE, Pokken, Zelda), but I definitely would have appreciated some more support. I can understand why Nintendo wants to be done with the Wii U ASAP but I feel like I haven't had my fill of the console yet.

No. I have over 30 retail games for the Wii U, with many of them being excellent. I got the console at launch and feel it has a great library. I think it has got enough support, especially after the last announced titles come out.

I'm fine with it, got some gems in the time it had on the market. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next and hoping that Nintendo finds some success.

It's 4 year life span kind of suck, but I am not mad. I got some great games out of it, some still coming, and it was what I expected.

I know last gen lasted way longer than ever before, but that shouldn't be a judging point for this one.

Have a bigger library for it than I had for my PS3, and it cost me about the same for the console, so I can't really say I am and I was more than happy w/ the PS3 purchase as well.

NES : October 1985

7 years later

SNES : August 1991

5 years later

N64 : September 1996

5 years later

Cube : November 2001

5 years later

Wii : November 2006

6 years later

WiiU : November 2012

5 years later

NX : November 2017

Even if NX releases on November 2016 just one year less than most console lives is pretty big for how financial failure the WiiU was

Thanks for this. If Nintendo supports the Wii U for all of 2016 then I would be satisfied.

It's a little annoying but by the time the NX will be out (almost certainly November 2016), the Wii U will have been out 4 years, only 1 year shorter than a traditional generation, so it's not that bad, although I would have preferred to get another year out of it. I certainly didn't want the Wii U to last 8 years like the 360 did.

Yes. I skipped on the Wii after feeling burned on the Gamecube, and gave the WiiU a chance because of Smash, but I feel cheated again, so I'm 100% done with Nintendo. The next console can do whatever it wants. I'm just gunna play PC/PS4 games.

I understand the console is under performing and all but is anyone pissed off at the fact the Wii U support is ending supposedly soon?

We are still getting DLC for Smash, MK8 DLC finished this year, Splatoon is still getting DLC, X and Zelda is still to be launched.

So what is a good date to launch the NX but still feel satisfied with your Wii U purchase? Or is the launch of Zelda, whenever that is, enough?

Personally I would be happy if we continue to get support for the whole of 2016, then I can let it go.

Zelda TP HD
Star Fox Zero
Pokken
SMT x FE
Zelda U

if they will release just one more game (could be Pikmin 4? an amiibo-focused platform?) I'd say it will be pretty in line with their previous yearly lineup

Nah. I mean I'm disappointed but I've gotten my use out of it. We got Smash and MK out of it. And then XenoX, Zelda U and #FE to round it all off. I say that's good enough.

The console is already 3 years old and will probably be 4 years old by the time NX is being released. That's a long enough life for consoles in my book.

So no, I'm not gonna be pissed.
I am actually gonna be pissed if this generation is going to be 7 years long again. It was really annoying for some reason with the PSwii60 gen.

Nintendo has checked all the boxes for me with Kart, Smash, 3D Mario, Donkey and Zelda. Plus one if the best new games ever with Splatoon and literally the game of my dreams Super Mario Maker.

Nope, Nintendo are taking the steps necessary to improve, and one of those steps is getting the hell off the Wii U train. I'd rather have these upcoming Wii U titles on better hardware with NX.

The ONLY thing that annoyed me is the fact Zelda U will probably be with better graphics on NX which annoy me a little. Other than that, i found a lot of enjoyment out of the console, way more than i though i would have so i don't have any problem with its replacement..... Well, the NX will have to convince me and if it's like the launch of the Wii U it will be very hard.

Stumpokapow

listen to the mad man
I paid about $100 for a Wii U a month or two after launch and I have 15 games for it, so my marginal per-game cost is $7. That's about the marginal per-game cost I paid for my 3DS. *shrugs*

Not really. It's had a good run, but it feels like its time is coming to an end.

I'm more upset that it seems like 3DS is on its way out. Seems like that system still has lots of potential.

nah, the 3DS has been showing its age for a while now. that system needs to be replaced more so than the Wii U.

Whatever gets me to more good console Nintendo games, I'll take it. This year has been so weak, and outside Zelda and maaaaaybe Pikmin 4, next year gon be the same.

I would be happy with this launch timeframe.
No way shareholders are going to let Nintendo lose money and waste another Christmas next year on the Wii U. They hate the system, Nintendo at this point probably hates the system, and consumers really don't care for it. The NX is rumoured to be on par in terms of power with xbox1 and ps4, meaning it'll be able run ports. 2016, Christmas, at the latest. Nintendo needs a home system that makes money.

Not disappointed here. Looking forward to new shiny stuff. Loving the 3DS and Wii U games that have been coming out, looking forward to a unified system and what sort of weirdness that brings to the market.

Not at all, I'm still playing it almost daily thanks to SMM and Splatoon.
And 4 years isn't bad for a console. My 360 was collecting dust long before its official replacement.

I am not upset at all. I have gotten a bunch of exclusive titles I would not have gotten anywhere else. If the new console is backwards compatible, it will be even better.

My list is:

- Mario Kart
- Wind Waker
- Smash Brothers
- Pikmin 3
- New Super Mario Wii
- Super Mario 3d World
- Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
- Bayonetta 2 with number 1 (never played it before)
- Captain Toad
- Splatoon
- Hyrule Warriors
- Mario Maker
- Nes Remix

All those tiles are digital. Many of them were deals, discounts in the Nintendo Store, or rewards programs. I think I payed full price for three games.

Upcoming games I will get:

- Zelda Wiiu
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Zelda TP HD
- Star Fox

I think I will have bought more games on the Wii U than the Wii. To me, the Wii had some great games, but they really used the motion controls way to much, especially when it was not needed. Also, I think the Wii U version of the games are equal or better. All in all I am very happy. As I said before, if backwards compatibility exist on the new console, I'm golden. I am to the point where software needs to carry over to new systems. I want to play my library on the new device. I love how the tablets and phones do it now. I hope all future consoles go for this.

Thanks for this. If Nintendo supports the Wii U for all of 2016 then I would be satisfied.
What do you mean by "supports"? Do you expect some secret first party game to be announced and released before 2016 is up or before the NX is announced? Starfox, Zelda WiiU and TPHD are on the way, which is more than enough for this sinking ship into 2016. Other than that, it's all hands on deck for the NX launch over there.

No. I have enjoyed the hell out of it for what it is. Tbh since I have been pc/nintendo for the last 3 gens I would be cool with Nintendo doing a refresh every 4 years.

I'm not pissed at the system being replaced (it will have been 4 years..so the same as the gap between Xbox/Xbox 360)

..but I'm pissed off that games which were tailor made for the system and its two screen set-up (Endless Ocean, Pokémon Snap, Metroid Prime, Trauma Centre) never appeared....and it's unlikely we'll get a two screen system again so they'll never be done justice in the way they could have been.

Also pissed at the lack of game creation/editing software. Mario Maker should have been just the start.

Not really. I've gotten enough out of the console. Plenty of single player and multiplayer experiences across the Wii BC, Virtual Console, and Wii U library itself.

I'm actually excited to move over to a new Nintendo ecosystem.

End of 2017... soon. Not pissed.

Also I value things with the enjoyment I had with the use of them. Wii U clearly has a lot of awesome games and 2016 will keep on delivering, I'm sure I'm going to play it a lot for at least 2 years.

And to people who have sold their Wii U or 3DS, do you enjoy playing your NX games right now?

Not particularly. Even the mighty GBA was being pushed out in approximately the same amount of time, and that was a monster for Nintendo. Wii U has had a lot of great games that can easily occupy one's backlog, and they seem to be closing shop in fairly grand fashion in 2016 with what's currently announced.

Not to mention the Wii U's failures were needed for them to improve. The Wii's success got Nintendo to be complacent in their hardware and online. As clearly demonstrated, the console market flipped them off and game Sony and Microsoft more attention.

I personally bought waay too many systems over the past 3 years

Wii U
PS3
PSVita
PS4
New 3DS XL

and I got given a new GPU and while ive definitely learnt to err on the side of caution when it comes to just picking up systems now, its certainly not because of the Wii U

my Vita has done nothing but gather dust, Tearaway was awesome though but Ill never buy a system for 1 game again completely foolish im more angry about this system being shelved shame Sony didnt show the same kind of commitment to the system like Nintendo has with the Wii U. Visual Novels and Monster Hunter clones are just not for me well, the indies are great but theyre not system sellers no matter how great a portable isaac machine is

My PS4 is a dedicated Netflix machine due to me picking up most third party titles on PC there just hasnt been any stellar first party software that has vindicated the purchase for me, again tearaway is great but the Vita version was better, I hope Ratchet and Clank succeeds!

Wii U has had some stellar software and all the itches I wanted scratched by a Nintendo system are pretty much done, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, still waiting on Zelda though Hyrule Warriors was fun and Splatoon is freaking exceptionally good fun

The Wii U has earned its rest as far as im concerned, doomed to fail but im certainly far from dissatisfied with it and look forward to seeing what Nintendo will do to compete head to head with Sony and MS

Ive still to buy one so not fussed. Theres at least 10 games I want to play in the machine which makes it worth it. If it gets replaced soon after ill still have my moneys worth.

Yeah, $300 for 3 (and at least 4) years of use? That's not bad for the majority of consumer electronics, don't know why we hold consoles to a higher standard.

NX won't launch until Holiday 2017, unless it actually is a handheld in which case maybe Spring 2017. 4.5 - 5 years is fine by me if it means getting the games I actually want on the system. My bigger issue is that Nintendo seems to always waste the first 3 years of a console launch before getting to the good stuff, and then they push the stuff you actually want to the next console.

Nope. I'd rather that Nintendo cut their losses and move on; they can't really support themselves on a lame-duck console like the Wii U. I wish the system had received more love from third parties, but it's honestly hard to complain about Nintendo's own output. Mario Maker and Splatoon alone could probably justify it, but we've also had DKC:TF, Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Smash Bros... lots of good stuff. Zelda, Xenoblade, Star Fox, and that SMT crossover game are still yet to come.

I *am* hopeful that the NX has some means to support Wii U software, or at least allows easy porting. The Wii U's library deserves a wider audience than it's ever going to get natively.

disappointed? yes

upset? no, i got the original WiiU for only $150 because of a Target Canada pricing error and managed get only the real essential nintendo games i needed for the console. Mario Kart 8 & Super Mario 3D World is some of the best games ive played in years.

im glad they're cutting their loses early and moving on. it obviously was a financial failure

I've enjoyed it a lot and still am. It's still my go-to console when people are over. We may start off playing a bit of Xbox One or PS4 but it get's immensely boring just watching one person have fun so we start playing Wii U mp games instead
