I want this lol.

How do you use the local leader perk ? I see I can command a settler to go to another settlement but how do I establish a supply line, i.e shared bench.

johnsmith

remember me
is there a good food to plant in a settlement? right now I've planted Mutfruit which gets 1 food resource, which means every settler is having to tend to plants.

1 settler can actually tend multiple plants (not sure on the exact number). Mutfruit is the best one for worker efficiency, but you want a combination of tatos, corn, and mutfruit so you can craft vegetable starch.

How do you use the local leader perk ? I see I can command a settler to go to another settlement but how do I establish a supply line, i.e shared bench.
It's Q on PC. Whatever the VATS key is on consoles. You should see it as an option next to move. If you don't, you either don't have the perk or you're trying to do it on an npc that can't be assigned to supply chains. Most named settlers can't be.

Just to clarify for my personal interest.

Non-automatic means single shot, press trigger multiple times

Automatic means continuous shot, hold trigger down.

So effectively a single rifle weapon can straddle both perk groups (Rifleman and Autos) with use of mods?

Also, pistols now straddle two perks, Gunslinger for single shot pistols and Commando for autos and the Commando perk straddles both pistols AND rifles.

Not sure how they could have made it more complicated......

It's worse than you think. Every weapon uses only 1 perk at a time, but what perk it is depends on mods and Bethesda's special way of thinking. Like, a short hunting rifle. Pistol? Rifle? fuck knows. Missile Launcher: explosives? heavy weapon? goddamnit. Gauss Rifle: heavy weapon? rifle? aaaaargh. No consistency, no logic.

Nope, me either, wonder why that is?, IDK, just feels a little cheap to me, it's not like fusion cores are in short supply either, so you could probably use it most of the time if you were that way inclined.

I'm just not keen on the way the map looks in it either as from what i've seen I can't spot red dots on it and it takes up too much of the screen with the interface for my liking.

Oh I don't know, it's pretty easy to discern really. Anything with a Rifle in its name and requires a button push for each shot --> Rifleman. Anything automatic that you can just push a button one time for continuous shots like Sub-Machine Guns --> Commando. Any pistol weapon including Revolvers and Laser Pistols or what-have-you --> Gunslinger. Missile Launchers/Minigun/Fatman --> Big Guns. Explosives? Anything that is thrown as Grenades and set as Mines.

It's really not that difficult to figure out.

The weapon classification is bonkers.

They classify weapons as: heavy, explosive, automatic, single shot and pistol. Which is dumb. Heavy signifies weapon weight/size, automatic and single shot signify firing rate, explosive signifies ordinance type and pistol actually signifies a type of firearm. So 5 classifications across 4 different criteria.

So the answer is: use the wiki, because Bethesda are stupid.
Thanks exactly what i needed.

Just picked up a plasma sniper rifle and before i start modding i wanted to check it was going to be benefitting from the perk.

Another question is there away of seeing what your companion perks are? I finally finished Nicks mission last night but i have no idea what the perk i got from it does.

All the perks that your character have can be seen on your status screen in Pip-Boy.

Unless you stick an auto mod on it?

I don't think it turns into Commando and still in Gunslinger since it is, after all, still essentially a Pistol.

Is there any point to the Brotherhood side stuff? Like does it have the same type of progression that the
Railroad faction does? As in, you do a few side quests and it gives you a bigger quest or more story content
or is it a bunch of do the same thing in a different location busy work? Like settlers needing me to clear out the same location again.

Except you're wrong :p

Fatman and Missile Launcher count as both Explosive and Heavy Weapon.
Any pistol with a stock stops using Gunslinger and starts using Rifleman.
Any automatic pistol uses Commando, not Gunslinger.

Easy to discern, eh?

Hahaha well I'll be damned.

I stand corrected then. This is what you get from trying to not look at Wikis for playing the game, hahaha.

It's wacky. I mean, I'm not even going to get into the fact that the 'Assault Rifle' is a freaking LMG, the Gauss 'rifle' is too bloody large to be wielded like a normal rifle and the .50 cal does less damage than the other rifle modified to use .308.

Goddamnit I miss NV guns.

Do I need to power the Reflector platform ? If yes, how do I attach wire to it ? Can't put the Molecular beam emitter on top. Tried so many things. I ran all the steam community thread, all the reddit threads. I'm stuck. Bethesda please... TT

There's a hunting rifle that you mod to become a sniping rifle, right? It has a mod to use .50 cal ammunition. Let's call this rifle A.

Then there's the other rifle that you mod to be automatic or sniper. It has a mod to use .308 ammunition. Let's call this rifle B.

Rifle A using .50 cal does less damage than Rifle B using .308.

Hahaha really? I need to test this out.

Also, for PC and XBOX the final upgrade to the Big League perk actually removes all of your melee damage upgrade from the previous levels of Big League.

That is just insane for anyone in Bethesda to miss on that.

I wonder if things will get balanced out in patches.

Make sure to remove all other salvageable objects in the building area, especially carpet(!). That solved this issue for me...
The reflector platform doesn't need it's own power and should just go under the big Beam thing.

100 hours in, no power armor on very hard.
I was raped so many times though lol.

Very hard all the way through?

Man that's nuts. Even with the most powerful weapons (2shot combat sniper rifle and gauss rifle) and armor (almost 300 without power armor, +15% while standing) I find myself needing power armor or having to lower the difficulty just to not get one shotted by certain enemies (1 endurance). And I don't do it out of spite either just to make the game easier. Some situations are justridiculous - I literally can't do anything but get killed after many tries. Mini nukes raining down from enemies taking cover on the rooftops, laser turrets that burn 1/3 of my hp a hit, and assaultrons that go invisible and onehit me... the game has some very unusual damage scaling sometimes. That said I think I reached a point where my damage is capped but as I level up enemies are just getting harder and harder?

place is clean of all scrap. Can't build the emiter. Plateform is build but emiter is a no go. No idea why. It just doesn't show up in transparency

Wait, how's that? My sniper is .50 and is at 219 dmg, if I use any of the mods with .308 it isn't going over 199 unless I'm missing something.

Both don't have affixes that affect their shown damage, and they're both fully modded and single shot?

Weird. I'll take some screenshots of mine after work. That being said, your .50 cal is only doing 10% more damage than your .308, which isn't exactly what I'd expect.

Sorry, I have no idea then. I assume you have the required materials.
Maybe going back to a previous save and building the device with another faction could be a last resort...

The only thing that should be affecting the damage are the rifleman/sandman perks but I kept the silencer and stuff on for both. It has the double shot ability though that shouldn't change the value.

That's worth investigating. My .50 has Assassin (50% to humans) and my .308 has Poisoned (think it's +3 poison damage for 10 seconds). You don't have Bloody Mess? that also tweaks the numbers.

I have a Two Shot .50 Cal Sniper and a Two Shot .308 Combat Rifle ( Overseer's Guardian ), both fully modded with the best stuff. .50 shows 161, .308 shows 144. I should have no perks active that would only affect one of them.

Do perk modifiers show up in the damage numbers?

Some do, yeah. And some legendary affixes as well. I want to say it should be logical which do and don't show, but it's a Bethesda game.

I know, I was just commenting that it's bizarre how Bethesda have managed the gun/perk system.

Oh, yeah. It's super weird.

Here's an odd twist: if you get an automatic weapon (low damage, high fire rate) with the Explosive legendary affix (+15 explosive damage, turned every shot into AOE) then your Demolitions talent affects the extra damage. This turns the weapon into death incarnate, basically. So your 37 damage rapid fire Assault Rifle? it becomes a 67 damage assault rifle that hits everything in a radius.

I've heard that Miniguns can spawn with the Explosive affix. Just imagine.

I've hit level 37 and my armour has been with me since about level 10. I'm looking to change it. What's the best armour/apparel to wear (not power armour)?

There are a few unique outfits such as the Battlecoat and Courser outfits. You'll run into them through quests, and they are worn by powerful npcs.

The armor pieces aren't all the same, btw. You get combat armor, sturdy combat armor and then heavy combat armor. All with different visuals and higher values. This applies to leather, raider, metal and synth armor pieces as well.

Silver Shroud if you're looking for a single armor set
you can upgrade it for free
. Otherwise your best would be Vault 111 suit + whatever the strongest random armor pieces are that you find. The problem with the new system is that (armored) apparel + armor pieces are easily stronger than any other thing out there.

Yeah, makes your head hurt if you think about it too much.

I guess the question is, should mod/affix bonuses stack with perk bonuses

Just got to level 45. Finally got my gun nut, armorer, science and blacksmith maxed out. Whippin up some nice weapons and armor. Got a pretty sweet gauss rifle. My favorite is my high capacity advanced assault rifle with poison damage and a dot reflex sight. I called it Venom.

god i wish there was an easy way to see what's weighing what. Even something like "You're carrying so much food spaghetti is overflowing out of your pants". Instead I have to hunt through all my items and guess.

I don't really mind the weight limit stuff but the UI is so god-awful ugh

Yeah a sort by weight would be nice.

Curse the mission designer (castle)

So in the castle whatshername "hopes you have some explosive on you" to remove the rubble - and there is a missle launcher lying on the table so of course I spend 10 minutes trying to find some ammo and then find one, shoot it, and it does nothing. Try a grenade, nothing.
Then go to the workbench and come back and wtf you can just click to scrap it? That's total misdirection :(

I want my wasted missile and three kinds of grenade back!
