Just Cause 3 on PS4 has 3min 30 sec loadings (post Day One patch)

Honestly its been rare where these kind of FPS drops especially ones based around alpha transparencies and such have gotten patched up to suitable FPS. I would love to be wrong but it hits the consoles hard as hell. Spent most my time with the PS4 version and then another maybe 3 hours with the Xbox One other than resolution they both get hammered equally.

Ugh, I have too much to play at the moment anyway. Might hold off until it's cheap if they can't get it running better. I'm building a PC in 2017, so maybe I'll pick it up then.

Okay that explosion making the circular tank spin like a ball was great. So far the load times for missions are super snappy in the stream. Maybe it's just the dying one and the initial load that's rough.

Yeah that ball spinning was cool lol
Pretty sure even with the issues, the game is gonna make up for it in pure fun factor.

I'm thinking the same thing. It's going to be a Christmas game for me so hopefully patches will have the game running great by then. But so far it is looking damn fine!

We'll see I guess. GTA V also takes a shitload of time to finish loading the world map after launching.

At least with GTAV, you could go away and do something else during that first load up...because every subsequent load following that was fine.

If JC3 performs regular >3min loads, that is atrocious. I'll be steering clear of the PS4 version.

What about Killzone SF's engine?

To be clear, I'm not saying that there are no successful single studio engines, but rather than in 2015, it's usually (but not always) AAA projects using single studio engines or vastly outdated/now unsupported middleware who have some uh... fascinating issues with their games.

That said, Guerrilla's engine has been successful enough that it is not actually a single studio engine anymore. It's used by Guerrilla Amsterdam, Guerrilla Cambridge (which was a separate studio that was folded into Guerrilla), and Supermassive (Until Dawn).

This is something that helps maintain the ever growing needs of engine creation, since there are three groups of people to call upon when issues arise and simply a lot more talented engineers available. I wouldn't be shocked if it continues to expand within Sony.

That seems very likely, I'd guess if there is fast travel that would also have a long load as well.

So the shooting doesn't seem improved, driving doesn't seem improved, 3 minute+ load times even after the initial start up, no multiplayer added, online connectivity bs, not a giant visual improvement over 2 and yet the framerate is crap even on current gen consoles. Yikes.

Not really I own the ps4 version and honestly it runs like shit. :/

Weirdest thing, I don't remember JC2 having too many technical issues.

I wonder what happened at Avalanche. Were the main team busy on Mad Max or something and this was done by a different team?

And yes, that online login shit is infuriating just to watch.

Bummmmmmeeeer, I was thinking about getting it just to have an easy way to compare scores with my PSN friends. Guess I'll buy it for PC in two years or something.

JC2 was pretty glitchy for me on PC. A lot of crashes.

Until he presses the touchpad to look at the map and it will reconnect him regardless.

Then after a while it will kick him out again.

That is just ridiculous. There is no need for such shit in a game like this. But hopefully it gets smoothed out.

Supposedly yes its made by the b team while the a team did Mad Max..

And i believe its infuriating to watch its even more annoying when you are in the middle of either action or a cutscene ( yes the connection bullshit happens during cutscenes as well )

This constant online checking shit is abysmally.

I had to put my PS4 in offline mode because I was about to throw my controller out the window.

Extremely poor design right here, even after you select "offline mode" when it fails to connect, it still tries to connect everytime you open the map.

And for what? Some fucking leaderboard I don't care about. "XxX360noscopeXxX beat your score for most kills with one clip", eh okay? I don't even know this guy.

During cut-scenes too?

Jesus Christ...seems they were hoping to trial some new online shit with this and failed spectacularly...

Aw man.. Xbox version looks to run a lot better. Whats up with that :/. Id take 900p over 1080 of it means the game runs good

When I first read the headline I thought it was just the initial loading screen (Like Rockstar's games) not a 3min loading screen for dying. That's just going to restrict the way gamer's play, as they will be constantly dreading that load screen and probably opt to play it safe - and in a game like Just Cause that prides itself on its creative freedom, that's not a good thing at all!!!

Bloodborne, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Just Cause.

This year has not been good for loading screens.

Bloodborne loads are pretty snappy post patch. Can this example be exonerated now?

Also wtf Next Gen open World pitfalls

Fallout 4 has this problem. Open World games have to load too much shit inefficiently it seems.

A lot of people in this site switched copies from ps4 to xbox one when they read a thread days before. Its neogaf its an interesting place.

Those people didn't own the game, and none of them were streaming the game right now to display the shitty connection issues. It should be much better when the servers are running at full tilt, but if you want to see how annoying it will be to play offline, watch Justin's Twitch stream.

http://www.twitch.tv/slasherjpc

I remember when that happened with Fallout 4, and then the Xbox One version turned out to be the worst version.

That was an interesting thread.

Then there was another analysis that showed the XB1 version running better. It's a mixed bag that runs like hot garbage on consoles, period. That thread turned out to be much more accurate than I would've hoped for.

Agree 100% ... I watched the GB quick look just now, and it appears the game gives the player a fairly generous amount of health along with regen, but I agree if that knowledge of a 3min load wall looms if you die, you will certainly takes things a little more cautiously.

I love that the author's misspelling of... something resulted in a capitalised marmite. Vegemite is better, though.

Three minute load times in 2015 is a joke, even for a huge open world game like this.

X86, faster processors and faster and more ram

Yet now we have hd assets at higher framerates and a slow ass hdd (consoles use old SATA2)

They need to engineer out bottlenecks but i guess you couldnt sell consoles at 400 then..

They could at least meake the connectors high speed so the consumer can opt to upgrade
