Was the PSP your first 'MP3 player?'

PSP is a brilliant console in that it's multimedia features for music, photos and movies were on par with the PS3. That in mind, the PSP is where I found myself in college to stack a lot of music into because of how convinent it was. I could play FF Tactics or listen to my tunes during lectures!

I wonder if it was the same for you all?

It wasn't, but it was a great MP3 player! I used it a lot.

Unfortunately, the market for stand alone tiny MP3 players has been cornered by Apple...

I had a 4th generation iPod. The memory sticks for the PSP weren't really big enough to hold all of my music ripped from CDs anyhow. :\

The 32 MB (upgradable to 372 MB) Rio 600 from the year 2000 was mine. This was a year and a half before the mighty iPod.

By the time PSP came out, it was a horrible solution for an MP3 player compared to an iPod which is easier to use and could hold much more.

No, I bought a cheap 256 MB MP3 player at the time the PSP was in because I couldn't afford one.

If anything, my first console MP3 player was a DS Lite with a Flashcard, years after that.

Didn't use it as MP3 player that often as it was quite big for that purpose. Used it a lot to watch movies/videos though. Damn it felt next gen to watch Spiderman 2 on the go back in 2005.

No, but the first with a "podcast app".

But it's certainly the portable device I've owned with the best audio quality. Absolutely sublime compared to all Walkmans, iPods and iPhones I've owned.

I tried using it as an audio player, but the shoulder buttons would constantly get hit in my pocket and change tracks. I could turn Hold on, but then I wouldn't be able to use any of the functions without taking the device out.

I think mine was some Samsung but I remember really wanting an iRiver for some reason. I wasn't much of a music listener though and the only time I wanted to was when I was at my PC so I ditched my MP3 player. I still don't listen to much music on the go but if I do I have my phone with me. When I did get a PSP I considered using it as a music player but my memory stick was filled with games essentially as soon as I got it.

I could play FF Tactics or listen to my tunes during lectures!

OP wat.

Nah but I did use the psp mp3 a lot.

My first mp3 player was this hybrid USB and mp3 player, not sure how much mb, probably less than 500.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
Yes it was. I still have it loaded with the same songs. It's a little embarrassing time capsule. Muse and SNSD and Miles Davis. Was that kind of kid.

Nope, but I know there were some girls in my high school that had a a PSP as their first MP3.

My DSi was my first MP3.

The first thing I could play mp3s on was a pc. Which I burned to cds that I could play on a discman. So technically, the discman.
