Uncharted 4 story trailer

So, everyone gets the feeling that (speculative spoilers)
his brother is going to die/end up evil/end up evil then get killed,
right?

I mean,
push the brotherly feelings early on, then kill for effect

So when Drake saw him get shot, I guess he thought he died but his bro probably thinks he left him to die and has been plotting his revenge all this time?

Sam doesn't mention how he actually got out, just that he's in a lot of trouble. Maybe he made some kind of deal?

I love the sombre hints of Nate's Theme as Drake starts telling Sam the stories.

At least we know it will definitely be part of the OST despite them changing composer.

Neil was up late reading GAF last night despite his better judgement, so he wanted to address it. Essentially, when they cast the role of Nadine they didn't even have a look for the character yet. They auditioned actors of all ethnicities, American, South African, white, black, etc. Laura Bailey won the part. Laura was Nadine when she auditioned, so she won the role. Then they started capturing scenes, while still working on art. Then a concept artist drew a piece of art of Nadine as a black character, and Neil thought it was great, and Neil though it was a great opportunity to have a strong, prominent black character in the game. But Laura was white, and they had internal discussions about that and it inviting controversy. So they decided not to finalize the look until they could actually see it in scenes. Meanwhile they kept capturing scenes with the actors they hired for the parts. Months later, when they finally started to get character designs and animations and stuff into scenes they captured and could actually see everything in context, they thought Nadine was a great character and Laura's performance vanished into the part and you didn't see anything but Nadine and Nate as characters, so they decided not to change the character to a white character. There's also a prominent white character that they aren't ready to reveal yet that's performed by a black actor.

Of course the truth was reasonable. Shame on people who got in a fuss over this before even knowing the truth.

The visuals, the "cinematography" it's just all so improved. The latter goes beyond technical improvements to the console, their craftsmanship is just better.

good panel, hopefully greg can arrange a podcast or something with them to really dig into uc4 after everyone's played it

I just realized something.

When Nate is asking Sam when/how he got out of wherever he was imprisoned, he dodged the question. Yes, he wants to catch up with his little brother, but that's an important question.

He seems fishy to me.

Edit: beaten lol

Man that panel was so good but so short. I could listen to these guys talk for hours. Too bad Emily Rose couldn't make it. :(

This is absolutely a must, similar to what he and Colin did back at IGN when Left Behind came out.

This was quite a good panel, listening to Neil talk about the background information on his games is always really interesting to me.

Just Cause 3's soundtrack gives me faith in the new composer.

I trusted Druckman and Straley to pick a good composer, but people were worried it might mean they would remove Nate's Theme - it's just good to see they haven't.

Sony's first party titles have had really good OSTs recently - Bloodborne has been my favourite all year and it had a bunch of names I'd never heard of before.

Don't trust Sam. Probably promised some shady group in exchange for freedom he'd get them a rare treasure or Nate's head.
Or Sully's secret to immortality.

Hopefully the reveal is as good as the speculation going on in my head. Time to shine Neil. Give me a good twist.

The sad part is that we had enough context and recent history to give them the benefit of the doubt, but some members were just focused on controversy for whatever the fuck reason.

Anyway, it's best to move on.

I feel ND is the only company I have complete faith in when it comes to deliver an awesome experience.

Whatever they do next I'm there 100%.

Did they say Nate's theme is in the game? Or did they show something with his theme in it during the panel? Cause it hasn't been in any promo material for the game, that I've seen.

It's in the background of the scene when they're on the bench. It's a somber, slower rendition of it.

Cheers to Niel for talking about it so thoughtfully. It's good to know that Laura came first, and then Nadine's (incredible) design was settled on later. I'm glad the team had discussed the situation re: casting/design. Losing Nadine's incredible design would have been the worst thing to come out of the situation, so I'm pleased about Laura playing her knowing the context. I think it's really good that people do have these discussions, though, both on GAF and within game/film/tv production companies. Discussion does not automatically equal melodramatic controversy!

The cinematography, holy-freakin-shit. Holy everything, really.

I could watch an entire movie looking like this, seriously, this is incredible.

I know it's in-engine and gameplay wont look like this, but this is still real time (unlike previous games cutscenes), David Cage's game can look pretty close to this, fuck.

The gameplay will look like that, it's just a lighting difference from cutscene to gameplay.
