I'll bet anything they only play creative mode. Survival mode is where it's at if you want an actual "game" experience. And on that front, it totally delivers.

Honestly, Minecraft is pretty big news outside the NeoGAF bubble. That sucker is huge in terms of sales, and huge with kids (a market that Nintendo cares about and actually has a chance at capturing).

It's the biggest third party title on the Wii U (granted there is little competition) and it will use the gamepad well. It's a big deal, late or not, although I'm not sure why they didn't announce it at the direct, especially since the rating leaked right before that time.

Haven't bought it, played it a little but it felt like virtual Lego so it was ok but not awesome. Story Mode was the thing that convinced me to try harder to play one of the most successful game of all time. So will buy I guess... and maybe my little girl will like it (4 yo is ok for Minexcraft?)

Terraria is fun... but after only a few handfuls of hours you're kind of 'set'... At least in my experience.


This whole news would have had a much bigger impact if we weren't spoiled right before the least Nintendo Direct.

Minecraft knock offs on the Wii U appear to do really well based on their Miiverse activity (which is always high for being budget knock offs), so there really does appear to be a market on the Wii U for a large and successful Minecraft port.

My son loves it but he plays it on PS4 and iPad. We're not going to buy another version.
