Ys VIII announced for summer 2016, Trails of Cold Steel 3 also announced

As mentioned, it has been announced for Summer 2016 during Falcom's shareholder meeting which is ongoing right now. Also, it is for PS4/PSV

The subtitle is Lacrimosa of Dana. Apparently it is also Falcom's 35th Anniversary title.

Falcom also confirmed that they are developing Sen no Kiseki III

According to Kondo at the meeting, Sen III will see a considerable upgrade in its graphics.
I'll keep updating the OP as more info gets translated.

Excellent. I'm looking forward to this.

And a confirmation that the next Kiseki game is indeed Sen III, too.

Hopefully XSEED has a quick turn around on both of these for the west.

Meanwhile the Taiwanese-developed MMO Akatsuki no Kiseki is going to begin service next year, and Falcom will likely hide lore/world-building in that game making it that much more aggravating for us.

Lacrimosa of Dana is a standout name.

Awesome.

Ys 7 is so good.

Also on a side note, I love the gloosy, reflective surface of the Ys logo. Reminds me of Grandia's.

+2 Falcom related purchases in the next ~2+ years, assuming Trails of Cold Steel I & II do well enough for XSeed to continue bringing the third one west.

Awesome news. I hope it doesn't take too long for it to make it to the west. Memories of Celceta is still my favorite vita game.

Did they mention platform? I'd love a Ys game on a home console. What was the last one? Ark of Napishtim?

It's on PS4, but it will probably be limited by the Vita version in terms of visuals. I hope that means we get 60 FPS on PS4 though.

The last Falcom-developed console Ys was on the SNES. Napishtim was ported to PS2 by Konami though, and Taito (I think) ported some of the other games as well but they never left Japan. Also think apart from V those versions are not good (but V itself is apparently questionable regardless of version).

I really hope Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 do well for XSEED. I don't have much faith, but it's nice to hope.

Thing is, that Grandia logo has a cool bevel, and this Ys VIII doesn't. That makes a world of difference, bruh.

Updated the OP with this: "According to Kondo at the meeting, Sen III will see a considerable upgrade in its graphics."
I hope this means they've cobbled a better engine together, not that they're going to fully ditch PS3 and/or Vita for Sen III.

I had fun with Ys 7. About time they've shed light on Ys 8.

As for Trails of Cold Steel 3, that's cool and all, but we're so behind. ( ._.)

I can't wait to see how this comes out on a heavier duty system. I liked a whole lot of things about Celceta, but the framerate sure wasn't one of them. It really puts a hitch in how the action feels when coming from the PC ports on Steam.

Vita? PS4? Hopefully Xseed will localize this and we'll get a gorgeous collector's edition like last time.

edit: Ps4 confirmed? cool!

Doubt we will get anything like that AMAZING three disc music collection, but as long as we get another soundtrack disc I'll happily order the LE. Apparently Cold Steel's music was off limits so they couldn't include a disc for that.

XSEED only includes "musical selections" and not the complete soundtracks, but they fill the discs and with very few exceptions they cover all the tracks I want.
