I dunno, I woke up kinda pensive with this still on a little bit ago. Despite saying repeatedly every year I was going to get into speedrunning, I never have. That said, I think I'd really like to go to one of these events as a spectator at least once. People always complain about the drama, and the cringe, and the chat, and everything on the screen - but if you listen to almost anyone who attends, the real reason to attend (besides supporting the charity of course) is all the fun that happens offscreen. Just a solid week of hardcore enthusiasts playing every weird game under the sun. The idea appeals to me so, so much more than something like pax. So I dunno. Maybe I'll start saving my pennies.

I don't think it's comparable, tetris needs insane reaction time and improvisation, stepmania is learning tracks and great muscle memory

Apparently wasn't memorized and all the muscle memory is from watching the steps fly to the top.

Despite that, Tetris and rhythm games are 2 different beasts entirely. Tetris is not about purely speed and accurately hitting specific buttons.

Turtles in Time was cool, and even better in 2-player, but some parts were really tough for me. I remember even struggling to get through sewer surfing perfectly.
