Media Create Sales: Week 3, 2016 (Jan 18 - Jan 24)

PS3 users gradually migrating towards PS4 - it remains to be seen whether all of them will migrate, and Yakuza 6 will be a nice test to see whether the total sales will collapse or not.

Nice result for Hyrule Warriors Legends and 3DS is keeping up pace with last year despite the lack of N3DS novelty.

Particularly in a week with six big new releases. In weeks with no big new releases, it'll probably be well into the top five.

The XB1 isn't going to make it to 100k, is it? Heck, the XB1 isn't going to make it to 75k, is it?

At this point it won't even sell 70k. Lol

So, short of pulling out, is there anything MS can do at this point with regards to the Japanese market? Or is there no hope?

Wii U droping fast... at this rate PS4 will catch up in October more or less.

Was there any PS4 Yakuza bundle this week? and is there any for next week with DQ Builders?

We'll see next week numbers but I still mantain that DQ Builders LTD (all versions) won't surpass 500.000

Yakuza continues to decline. It will certainly be interesting to see if Yakuza 6 can cause a huge rebound. If Yakuza 6 is PS4 only... there might not be that much hope.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I wasn't expecting 3DS to keep up with 2015 corresponding weeks well enough (at least for Media Create, while Famitsu continues with lower numbers overall). There was a special Zelda model last week though, and that probably helped. Pretty good Hyrule Warriors numbers, honestly, considering the original's debut.

That's impressive!

I think one of the reasons Sega didn't hesitate to go for 3rd iteration of Yakuza 1 is overseas market, especially Asia. There are quite few people who got into the series but don't know the original story so this is the great introduction for Asian gamers I guess.
And yes I think as for Yakuza Kiwami WW sales > Japanese sales will definitely happen (first time for the series to happen I guess).

Maybe they'll try to buy Nintendo again. :p

Short of buying Sega outright, it's anyone's guess. They probably should assemble a crack squad of guys who know the Japanese market to shore up third-party support and start to listen to the market and consumers there.

Hey, I hear James Mielke is a free agent now...

It's a bit higher than I thought it would be, but it's not even close to a "success". ;)

PS4 did a bit better than what I thought, this week (21k), probably Yakuza: Kiwami helped. While it's quite lower than last year's Yakuza 0, and it's a remake instead of a remaster, I wouldn't go as far as to say it flopped. It's a decent-to-good result.

Seeing as how both the PS4 versions of Yakuza and RE outsold the PS3 versions, I'd say it's a bit more than gradual.

It is gradual though. It doesn't matter so much that they sold more on PS4 rather than the percentage sold. The ratio when PS3 was beating PS4 sales were still way higher than the PS4 ratio now. So the shift is still gradually happening. It's not there yet. More than half the users are still on PS3.
