I hope the project finds success. However a C&D from Nintendo could happen if they feel if it infringes on their IPs of Zelda and Mario Maker

Holy shit. For a second I thought this was an official announcement from Nintendo for Zelda Maker. My heart... Uhh...

A lot of those assets seem too close to Zelda assets.

Someone on Reddit noticed some similarity of the sprites from Link's Awakening.

They might want to CTRL + F "Zelda" and delete all references. It looks close enough as is, especially considering the assets.

It strays too close to Zelda and Mario Maker for it not get noticed by Nintendo's Lawyers.

They should go back to the drawing board and try again but without using Nintendo's asset.

If done right then cool.

I won't outcast it due to being upset about petty reasons.

I'm not backing it or anything but still.

Nintendo's lawyers are going to destroy this since he's asking for money. Even this thread title makes it seem like an official Nintendo game.

This could be a cool idea per say, but they really need to stray away from Zelda. Draw new assets, change the name, and then get it off the ground again.

for the last time do not make projects based off Nintendo IP and ask for money, get money involved, or do anything that involves money

If you just avoid the cash they won't give a fuck

I'm rooting for this to exist, but I think it's still much too close in terms of assets - Nintendo still has a probable case here, especially since it's intended to be a commercial release.

There's been games that have gotten away with it. Graal Online is extremely close to A link to the Past and its been around for 18 years. It currently has 9000 active players but Nintendo doesn't care lol

Sounds like he didn't quite understand the problem with the project if thinks removing Zelda from the name fixes anything.

Welp its a kickstarter so chances are that Nintendo Ninjas are on its way as we are speaking.

How hard it was to make your own assets?

Asking money for a Zelda rip off isn't cool.

If you're going to ask for money, be more original. If not, do it as a free fan project.

Hm I'm curious to check this out just to see how feature competitive it is with Zelda Classic

EDIT: That video is...not inspiring

Nintendo Lawyers gonna be all up in his ass real soon. Asking for money to make a game made up of what are clearly assets ripped from Zelda games? Yeah, this guy really isn't using his head.

it would be funny if these people went after the guy instead of Nintendo

is it completely free?
No, you can buy the in game currency (gralats) for money and people have spent hundreds on the game. Also there's a PC version where you can get a membership to access exclusive servers

I think it was originally called Zelda online though so maybe Nintendo did approach them

The way it used to work is that you can explore the game world but not interact with it for free, but you have to pay to actually play the MMO Zelda clone. Might have changed since I stopped playing.

Wait. what other versions are there?

Nintendo will definitely shut this down, absolutely.

Mario Maker is doing so well that the "Maker Series" is probably an official series now. Zelda Maker and Metroid Maker are probably going to be on the NX if not one of them. I mean, they're too great.

The other thing with Graal is that it used to be Zelda Online; I think Nintendo pressure got them to remove the Nintendo characters and change the name at least.

Those art and sound assets are still uncomfortably close to the real thing

Yeah I'm ready to put forth exhibit Z, an independent research company brought in hundreds of people and they were given a picture of LTTP and listened to the defendants song and our clients song. Research showed overwhelmingly that they could not discern any difference or something to that effect.

At least this company is doing Nintendos market research for them. $60 retail release for fall of 2018 from Nintendo.

Wait. what other versions are there?
Mobile. It's currently the most popular version by far now. The game went downhill fast in the late 2000's to the point where only a couple hundred were online (or less). Now there's 3000 online on one mobile server (classic) and 3000 on another (Era) and a couple more thousand on various other mobile servers like Zone and Ol West
