Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Ended up picking up Spectre this week on blu ray after telling myself I wouldn't. Haven't seen it yet as it was the first Craig Bond film I missed in theaters due to poor word of mouth and less than stellar reviews but I promised my friend we'd be watching it this weekend so I'm just hoping it's better than Quantum of Solace at least.

It's making me curious though, who is generally considered the best Bond, is there a consesus on the matter with fans or are opinions pretty split?

I mean, my fave is Craig because I didn't really enjoy these movies until he took over in Casino Royale. Skyfall was amazing too.
Wish me luck with Spectre lol.
Craig has a great look and brings a brute physicality to the role that I felt was always missing previously, and he's really great at drama and action. I will say he doesn't pull off "suave" quite as well as Brosnan or a few of the older Bonds though. Really don't enjoy Brosnan's films though, I find him too hammy in the role. I have a feeling lots of people would say either Sean Connery or Daniel Craig. Or maybe I'm way off.

So who is the best 007 super spy?

It's a subjective question. It all depends what qualities you appreciate most in a Bond.

But yes, it's Daniel Craig.

It's strange. I want to say Craig even though I don't like any of his movies except Casino Royale. The rest are terrible in my opinion and yet I still wanna say he's the best Bond.

For the most part each Bond has their qualities. I've always been partial to Timothy Dalton though since he had a darker tone to his films.

When I picture Bond I still think of Brosnan. But I didn't like any of his movies.

Really liked the Craig movies but I'm kind of ehh on him for the part.

I haven't seen Her Majesty's Secret Service so no Lazenby, and I only think so highly of Roger Moore because I think he's hilarious

Moore brought too much of the Saint with him imo, but it was still super entertaining to watch. Brosnan moved away from steele better. Connery and Dalton were both fantastic.

Moore is a lot of fun. His films are all sorts of camp but i think he plays the part well.

Goldeneye will always make Pierce my favorite. I know it was my first Bond movie and young biases and all that, but it's still the best.

Connery is Bond.

Craig would be the best if he'd gotten more than one good movie. And maybe one movie in which he was just Bond, and not Newbie Bond or Vengeful Bond or Too Old For This Bond or Really Too Old For This Bond.

Craig has eclipsed Connery imo. Even when they kind of neutered him a bit for the Mendes flicks he's got that suave shit down but still looks like he could whoop some ass. An intimidation factor that Brosnan never had at all, dude looked like a weakling.

Honestly? Brosnan is probably the best Bond actor. The dude was an amalgamation of all of the positives of the previous Bond actors, and the dude could also go a little hard-edged like Craig when he wanted to. Brosnan unjustly had to support probably the worst Bond run of any actor, though. Brosnan was such a perfect Bond that I'd really like to see him get a second run of movies with better writers and directors.

It really does depend on what you want in a Bond movie, and out of the Bond character.

If you want say, that oddly masculine ideal of British charm and world-saving extravagance, Roger Moore is probably the closest you'll get out of the lot.

If your tastes more towards a hard-ass spy doing his duty for his country with methods otherwise impermissible in society, then someone like Craig or Connery is probably closer.

Even that is subjective to how I interpret those things.

Carig is what made bond intresting for me. I wish they go back to what made casino royal. More casino royal and less specter

It's Craig. Then Connery. Brosnan or Dalton for third (I'm partial to Brosnan for Goldeneye, but Dalton was pretty damn good and, if given more time, would come even further into his own probably).

Moore was completely miscast in the role. Lazenby isn't that bad but I think is sometimes seriously overrated (and the same goes for OHMSS as a whole).

Daniel Craig is a great actor, but his Bond movies are not good. David Niven, Peter Sellers &
Woody Allen
made better Bonds than he did.

Clearly from the results of this thread, there is no consensus.

My favorite bond movie is solidly Casino Royale but honestly I haven't liked any of its sequels.

That said yes Craig is the best. He actually looks like he could be an agent. Most of the other bonds look like they would break if the enemy sneezes too hard

I prefer Brosnan, despite the fact that most of the movies done during his Bond stint were garbage. Goldeneye is my favorite Bond movie.

Of Craig's movies I've only seen Quanum of Solace and Skyfall. I want to say I must have fallen asleep during them but I don't think I did. Nothing about Craig's Bond was memorable to me.
