Greenberg: Quantum Break is not coming to Steam

Spirited

Mine is pretty and pink
Imagine if Sony OK'd the release of all 1st party titles on PC...on their Sony Store™.

"OMG I have to download the Sony PC APP..NO SALE!!!!!!!" LOLOLOLOL

I think it will be fine as long as Win10 Store isnt like GFWL.

What is this for argument?
Win10 store sucks really bad, there's legit reasons for not wanting to buy games from there.

Oh, the Windows Tablet App Store is getting products designed for desktop PCs now? Cool, get back to me in about five years if it hasn't been deleted or repurposed and I'll consider tying software purchases to it.
You shouldn't consider it even then. Even if they don't give up on this one, it's a terrible system which attempts to turn your PC into a closed platform.

The Windows 10 store installs these games into folders which I, as the sole administrator of my network and my PC, do not have access to.

That's simply unacceptable.
Exactly.

I don't think I'll buy it after the issues with Tomb Raider.

MS is making the same mistake trying to force players. A Gears community is not going to last if it's Windows store exclusive.

Holy shit. Any kind of reasoning if you don't mind my asking?

As has been said several times, 10 store restricts several ways to access the game that other platforms do not. You can't even use simple mods like Reshade with it, something that works with like 95 percent of modern games.

You can't release Universal Windows Apps on Steam so even if Microsoft was okay with the revenue split why the hell would they release anything on there? They wanna get people to use the Windows store so they can get more apps for Windows 10. I'm not even mad even though I would prefer Steam.

Didn´t even know that. Lmao.

I have more access to folders on my phone than on the W10 store. Think about that. What is this even,

A stupid ass argument that's 100% true.

Their reasons for making it exclusive to their store front is to pocket a larger percentage of the revenue, and build up their store front. End of story.

Not really seeing how the windows store is a walled of junction that you can't interact with putting your games on another drive..fiddling with 3rd party software or the game itself has grave concerns. Because that isn't PC gaming to me and it shows again that i can't trust microsoft like i did with GFWL seeing the same shit again but even worse than before.

I'm not fond of the Windows Store, but I'm willing to purchase Quantum Break and their other first party games on it, provided the game is well-received.

Then good luck to them with that lol. I won't be buying anything off their store.
Ditto. Limitations are too strict and basically can't mod anything.

Edit: Just read about folder permission situation. That's crazy shit. There is 0 chance I would use something like that on my PC.

It was to be expected and MS fumbling around with added layers of bullshit to their PC gaming platform was also, to be expected. They want more control to the detriment of actual functionality. The user experience is never their first concern.

Origin and uplay devalues those arguments IMO. PC is already a slightly fragmented storefront experience so one more won't kill you

Can you add win 10 store games to steam as a 'non steam game'?

I personally have no interst in having 3+ clients/storefronts on my PC.

Im with you there.

I would buy Quantum Break on Uplay, GOG or Origin day 1.

I'm so confused...

I'm just not going to get involved with this, fuck the Windows store and everything it stands for. It's a worse version of GFWL and I have ZERO reason to believe that 5 or 10 years down the line Microsoft will still support it.

Oh well, too bad. I was prepared for it to be an Xbox One exclusive to begin with so nothing lost, nothing gained. I just won't support their shitty wannabe App Store, simple as that.

No one could realistically be surprised about this. They want to get people to use their store and get prior in their ecosystem.

I don't actually care if companies want to push their own storefront, I just look at them as launchers. I don't run them in the background, but I don't mind running Origin or Uplay to launch a game. I didn't even mind Microsoft making it a Windows Store exclusive, but hearing the restrictions that are in place on Windows store apps makes me lose all interest.

Kind of the point

That's also the point why I am not planning to buy full priced games from there. The reason I have a PC is not to have completely closed off environment without even modding capabilities or one that restricts my admin account from accessing.

The complainers in this thread are really entitled.

"They really don't care about pc gaming then!"

Yeah they just took one of their exclusives and put it on Pc for you to enjoy and you're crying because you can't buy it on Steam lmaooo like they should give Valve 30% of their sales as of they're not doing enough by putting the damn game on Pc. No matter what they do ppl will still find a way to cry about it.

Unlike GFWL, the Windows Store is built-into the OS.

Coupled with the whole ecosystem they have going on between their hardware and OS, this Store isn't going anywhere.

I don't think anyone is surprised.

However the windows store is shit. People complain mainly about that.

Remember when you could just install fucking game on the PC without the need for all of this platform bullshit?

Good times.

This isn't too surprising, but at the same time I remember the Win 10 press conference last year demonstrating some XBox/Win10 feature integration with Steam. It was mostly or all social, but nevertheless that had me thinking that MS wouldn't keep future titles on PC off Steam. Reading in this thread that you can only choose the drive, rather than folders, to install games but don't have access to the folders anyway is a bit unappealing. It may not sound like a big deal, but one never knows what's further down that road of closing people off from their computers/devices.

Just for fun:

Have no problem buying a game from the windows store, it's the restrictions that's the problem. I'd happily buy it on the Uplay store or Origin, not bothered about no Steam version. They need to release it as a normal exe that functions the same as any other game.
