Really? I'm generally on top of souls related news and this is pretty new to me(not the content of the footage, which I'm well aware of, but rather the footage itself).
That area was revealed already but this extended footage of the beginning is brand new.

What if they decide to make JP release date as worldwide release date?
A few of the soulsborne streamers I watch have been talking about an event they went to to capture game play. The streamer mentioned the amount of content was akin to around dark souls 2 end of heides tower of flame. Also he mentioned that there were a lot more story spoilers in this portion than DS2.

Yea, there was a stream showing the beginning of the footage but I don't think they they showed the ice beast and the interaction with the NPCs.
