Let's Prented Tomb Raider: Dagger of Xian was announced. How would you feel?

I Wanna Be The Guy

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
Full TR2 remake by Crystal Dynamics. Available PS4/XB1/PC day and date. Hell lets even add NX to that.

How do you take this news? Let's also assume that in this announcement the PR talks the game up as a core return to the series roots in terms of overall design philosophy.

I would lose my mind. A very special game for me TR2. I still think it's one of the stronger entries in the old series.

If it's made in the same engine as ROTTR, I'm sold. One of the best looking games I've seen.

Same engine, okay. Same gameplay, no thanks. Although that game skewed more to action, there was nowhere near as much as the modern TR games. Plus i don't think the platforming would translate well.

I miss making a leap of faith hoping i would grab that ledge. What a thrill.

Wtf sort of thread title...

Also meh. Fine with the current situation they have of reboot-Tomb Raider for their AAA and Lara Croft for their mobile and spin off titles.

Yup, definitely thought this was an actual announcement, not a hypothetical. Maybe a Mod can change the thread title?

To answer the question, I'd love it. But I think you'd need a different engine, since Rise of the Tomb Raider feels a bit too floaty to pull off precise platforming (Too much "snap-to" platforming, if that makes sense).

Lol OP, good job on making it sound like an actual announcement :p
Btw I'd really like it since TR2 is my favourite TR. Also Venice, Opera Theatre and Tibet Monastery with next gen graphics :O

Trust me, I'd rather have the original games gameplay design and philosophy. Just the current engine generates some wonderful visual fidelity. After watching the early cutscene in London I actually felt amazed at how detailed the faces were, along with animations and lighting.

I was at odds with the thread title because I thought it was a new thing but then it wasn't?

The old tomb raiders have no significance to me so the title has no relevance. Would assume it was a new game and I would feel confused like I am now. Why are they announcing the 3rd game before the 2nd has even hit all of its platforms?

Knowing know that it's a remake, resounding meh

Guys I said how would you feel in the title. Misleading title would be leaving that out.

Yeah you said how would you feel AFTER a title announcement. It's silly at best though. "How would you feel if" makes it a question instead of a "bait and switch" so to speak

As much as I've enjoyed the two new Tomb Raider titles, the bolded text would have me so fucking excited. Legit hyped.

No thanks. Tomb Raider 2 needed less shooting - with Crystal at the helm there would be even more.
I look at I this way. It's probably the classic TR game most suited for Crystal Dynamics to do because of how action heavy it is. That aspect of the game is something Crystal can't really do worse.

It would need a different voice actress, and avoiding all the whingey self doubt of the current games, but it would be a dream come true honestly.

Took me a few moments to realize this was speculation (not even? just a question to gauge interest about an idea?), not a real announcement. I would consider altering the thread title to more clearly indicate this.

So would I. I can't. Hopefully a mod will step in.

I am open to being mocked in the title change as long as the point is still clear in the title.

Can't wait for a quarter of the game to be cut out, the last levels to go from the best part of the game to the worst, Lara wanting daddy the whole game, all the major moments to be turned into QTE's (or at least zero skill "set-pieces") and even more emphasis on combat than it already had.

Anniversary is easily my favourite part of LAU and the closest Crystal came to the originals (although I think the reboot games are a better as games in their own right for all my issues with them), but the more I think about it and see how the newer games are designed and the things Anniversary screwed up the more I realise the things I love about it are happy accidents as much as anything else.

Bring back classic Lara Croft and lose whiny, depressed NuLara and I'll buy anything you have to offer.

You know what? I'd even be up for a third TR1 game, this time with the new engine.
I really wish in the future they'd let us use Classic Lara though. I really like the new one as well, but she just didn't evolve between the reboot and ROTR. How many episodes until she's as cool/confident/etc as the old one?

Was with you up to this point.

Modern TR shits all over classic TR as far as design, gameplay, fun, etc.
