TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan - 11 minutes of gameplay

This looks.....ok. I really enjoyed Transformers, so I'll probably pick this up but I can't say I'm all that excited for it.

I'm ready for a Platinum game with a big budget and a long dev cycle again. C'mon Scalebound, Nier, and (hopefully) Bayo 3.

The penultimate battle of Transformers had all of the Autobots fighting alongside you, and it was still skill-driven, easy to control, and fucking awesome.

This game will be great.

Looks like a fun Turtles game but a bad Platinum-style game

Not necessarily a bad thing but this looks like a straight up beat em up, the lack of lock on makes it look pretty messy too

That doesn't look very good. The rails on top of all the buildings looks super tacky, and serve no real purpose. They say it's to make traversal fun, but there doesn't seem much reason for the traversal mechanics to exist other than to make the levels huge for no reason.

Platinum needs to cool their jets a bit and get back to focusing on a select few amazing titles.

For better or worse, the other transformers stayed out your way in that game.

This looks like a mess, aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Im not seeing any room for combo experientation, just hammer at the enemies till they are dead.

Looks great, not a whole lot going on at once but I expect they showed a slow / early portion of the game so its easy to digest what is going on.

They literally said the meat of the combo would be chain comboing off each turtles ability.

Basically it's real time weapon switching but with the characters

Reminds me a bit of Madworld structurally. I really like what I see.

If this means that I can string crazy ass W101-esque combos...

I like what I'm seeing :D!

It looks great visually, the opening cut-scene matches the Turtles tone perfectly, and the gameplay seems to be the logical expansion from Transformers Devastation; open levels with mechanics built in mind for that (grinding, wall-running, gliding) but also having the deep combat mechanics we expect from Platinum Games :).

Hopeful that the game is great and I can't wait to check it out when it launches.

So far, Transformers looked much better. Maybe it's the bland environments turning me off. Or the fact that I don't want to play online with my current setup. I.e. it sadly doesn't look like a coherent singleplayer game.

Looking pretty rough, but it is being made by the Z team at Platinum so I shouldn't be surprised.

Transformers was like the king of bland environments. :p

Pretty much all Platinum games are, its really their weakest area by far. Bayonetta 2 is like the only P* game I can think of that even comes close to having some kind of interesting environments, the rest are just generic warehouses, factories, and Euro-cities.

I just wish you could fight alone with no other turtles on screen, that beboop fight is a huge confusion.

Too much shit on screen for split screen to be viable in that regard, you wouldn't be able to really see stuff to climb on, and since this is a beat-em-up, you'll need vision all around you because goons will be everywhere.

What year is it?

I use to play 4 player split-screen on 21" TVs in the 90's.

I think I can handle at least 2 player-co'op on 46" or 200" plus on my projector. There's plenty of real-estate with a slightly backed out camera...or even the current camera.

Haha yeah, problem fixed. Get an hd 3d game with this kind of action running well with 4 player split screen going, it's so easy obvs

Both the X1 and PS4 could easily pull at minimum 2 player split-screen of this game. I'd take it even with a slight res drop.

This is where I am, as well.

I'm also happy that P* isn't giving up on experimenting with the Madworld/Anarchy style of game. Because as much as I love Bayo, Revengeance and Transformers, it'd be a bit sad if that type of formula was all we could expect from P*'s games.

They weren't open like this and didn't look so drab. The shading looked better and even made for some decent environments. Like when you got into the spaceship-looking areas.

I mean, they were pretty much open, you were confined to boring streets and rooftops but they were open-ended. I really don't think this looks any worse, per se. The spaceship environments were basically the only change-up and we haven't seen much of this game yet.

This will probably be similar as I can see the turtles eventually boarding some Krang ship or something, and hopefully the Technodrome.

When was the last great TMNT game? Battle Nexus 2 on gamecube or maybe the fighting game on Wii?

How hard is it to make an arcade style beat'em up?

Performance is not the issue in the slightest
There's just too much shit to put on 1 half of the screen, even if it's a big screen.

Works fine with the LEGO games...and those newer Marvel and Batman ones are crazy as hell with 'goons' and LEGO pieces and crap flying all over the place. There is an 'active' split screen that follows you around to maximize the screen space. That said, even though I am not a big TMNT guy these days, I would have grabbed this if it had local co-op. Oh well. I am always on the look out for stuff to play with my son locally on my PC.

I don't think it's that mindless. Guy had to revive multiple times.

Can you please direct me to a lego game where you can use special moves and actively climb up and down buildings and grind on rails
Lego games are simple, and that's why they work with splitscreen

Nothing wrong with mindless anyway, as long as its fun, that is all that matters. Games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight were mindless as well, and for me, games such as this are just updated extensions of the genre.

There are MANY times where you have to climb up on towers and off screen to separate sections of levels while your partner being on the ground to complete certain puzzle requirements that allow you to move on in a level...all the while being gang attacked by thugs I might add.

Have you played any of the more recent LEGO games?

Check out the Marvel LEGO and Jurassic World Lego games for starters. I'm not talking out of my ass here, I've experienced it since my son and I have put a bunch of hours into them. They don't use a static split screen for that reason, it literally stretches out the two halves during more chaotic parts.

Need more straight beat'em ups like this. Especially with 4 player co-op.

Not feeling the art style or the direction though.
