TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan - 11 minutes of gameplay

There are MANY times where you have to climb up on towers and off screen to separate sections of levels while your partner being on the ground to complete certain puzzle requirements that allow you to move on in a level...all the while being gang attacked by thugs I might add.

Have you played any of the more recent LEGO games?

Check out the Marvel LEGO and Jurassic World Lego games for starters. I'm not talking out of my ass here, I've experienced it. They don't use a static split screen for that reason, it literally stretches out the two halves during more chaotic parts.
I am familiar with the dynamic split screen(it's been around for some time), but in LEGO games, everything has a path of a sort. You can't just grapple everywhere, or freeclimb everything: there is order. Also, combat in LEGO games is ridiculously simple, so it's not that much of an issue. LEGO games don't have combos and special powers like this game will.

I'm just pointing out that I don't think that kind of dynamic split screen would have a problem here.

This TMNT doesn't look THAT deep either to be honest.

Well, I don't really like what Platinum did with the game. I prefer Konami style design of the levels (the first two games from early 2000s) but not huge, boring and dead map full of nothing (except shitty collectibles and 7-8 mobs) and I don't care about co-op. Boss fight is also did not impressed me.

*sigh*

This game is not for me. Looks boring like every Spider-Man games except Ultimate.

This looks like everything I was hoping this game would be. So awesome and the producer really seems to be passionate about the series which always helps

I was really scared at watching this video as I am so excited for this... That UI is awful and the powers flying up like that... like WTF is going on sometimes... BUT hearing him talk about this as if it was a demo setup and in your game you can set the powers per each Turtle and really customize your powers and the type of weapons and equipment you have starts to get me super excited again! That ended up being my favourite thing about TF:D and I hope they go in on it here again. It also gives me hope that this is a demo specific thing and the full game won't have so many bad UI elements...

The combat looks a little rough right now and I don't know if that's them just showing it off in demo mode trying not to go too crazy but seeing seamless turtle switching and saying how important that is for bosses etc. Sounds amazing.

I don't know... I'm still excited for this and this video maybe hit me with as many positives as it did negatives... I hope we get more to digest soon.

Oh and the traversal stuff looks OK - that was the least interesting part about TF which you think wouldn't be the case because you are a car but IDK - the streets look empty and boring so I hope getting from one combat arena to the next isn't an issue...

Lastly this game NEEDS that challenge mode from TF:D ALL Platinum games need that mode now. It was genius!

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhh, looks like it'll be a fun romp but you can tell this is the Platinum C-Team again.

As others have said I can see all the Anarchy Reigns in there. Traversal and stuff at least looks fun.

Performance is not the issue in the slightest
There's just too much shit to put on 1 half of the screen, even if it's a big screen.

No there isn't...at least not at any point in that video. Not even CLOSE to too much going on screen to fit in split-screen on a big tv/projection.

I'd say there's even much less going on than I expected.

I find this argument against split-screen in this game absolutely silly.

Here's a completely crappy Paintbrush cut and paste. I could even work just fine with the top view. Go to the video and you'll see you basically lost nothing of importance here.

I'd figure the bottom camera view would be best though. I can see both just fine on the 21" monitor I'm using, let alone a big-screen. There's no real argument against split-screen here. You're not suddenly going to be looking at 3 pixel enemies and hard to see buttons.

The developer could change the FOV to fit the widescreen format.

Hmm... as far as Platinum's budget games go this looks like a big step down from Transformers: Devastation. Still hopeful though.

I can't stand the UI for the powers expanding to the center of the screen a la Dragonquest Heroes every time you want to use them. Why would anyone think that's a good idea?

At some point Activision has got to let people who're competent in the realm of action games play this so we can see what's what. I want to see how air combos work.

I like Bebop's music & how it speeds up when he's down to his last few lifebars.

Traversing the game looks a lot like Kingdom Hearts 3D.
Which is good.

I like how this game is actually more different than other P* games.
And the Turtles seem to have their Nickelodeon voice actors, which is awesome.
Really can't wait for it.

Will this have Online Co-Op?

To those wondering why this games combat doesnt look like it even approaches Transformers:

There are games Lord Saito directs, and there are games that he does not.

We'll have another trailer before the game comes out to show all the combat better and everyone would be hyped again.

Still the one thing I wasn't expecting was that much freedom of traversal.

Art direction is bad, and that world is as barren as a PS2 game.
Let's hope they pull together something good

No couch co-op and no selectable skins from past comics/cartoons make this a miss for me, at least till it's bargain bin. Was really stoked at first. It would have been a blast to play with my kids.

This TMNT doesn't look THAT deep either to be honest.

There's obviously parts in the video where the turtles are half a world away, like Leo is running around the rooftop and the other three are somewhere on the ground. It would have to zoom out pretty far and basically go Overhead to make it work.

I stopped worrying about the art in TMNT games a while ago since it's never going to be what we all want or what a majority of us want. But as far as the actual gameplay goes, it looks pretty damn fun to me. I'm looking forward to it.

Very disappointing that there's no local co-op but I guess I can look past that.

THIS LOOKS SO GOOD

Over-the-shoulder shuriken-throwing, parachutes deployed from their butts, Sunset Overdrive-style grinding and ziplines, spinning off pipes like the high wires in Mario Sunshine, switching characters mid-combo...

YESSSSSS

Dude, you can always sell me on a games mechanics +1.

Split-screen may be possible, but "possible" isn't the determinant.

In the case of this game, there's no way it was in the budget. It's clearly a pretty low-budget game, so while split-screen was probably on the list of features, it was also probably cut very early.
