PSVR Price: $399/399/£349/¥44,980, no camera/move, launching October

It's a great price and people saying otherwise are delusional. And yeah, i know this is a toy compared to other headsets but that's why it's gonna be a success among the casual market: a "plug and play in your PS4 for a cheap and good-enough" VR experience.

Exactly where I thought it would be. So around $500 until you can truly use it; and over that if you want a game. This thing will be niche until next gen.

I also really hope it's comparable with the ps5 or whatever Sony is planning next

October? Damn.

Good price though.

Great launch timing, honestly. Just in time for the holidays.

I dont understand the not packing in the of the camera. This is bonkers.

Keeps pack-in costs low.

if we are doing this game....then Rift and Vive are not $200-400 better experiences...see what I did here?!

It obviously isn't worth discussing this with you as you've determined the $400 headset will be on the same level as the $600 and $800 headsets that are also being powered by far more powerful machines

So, the price is 399 WITHOUT the Move controllers or the camera, which is required?

So, the camera is $45. Bringing the price of this to $445. To give it parity with the Oculus, you'd also need a PS4 controller in the package, so another $50.

$495, $100 cheaper than Oculus. Considering the hardware specification differences, I think the pricing on ALL VR devices are perfectly correct.

Uhm your being defensive for no reason when someone is trying to clarify what they want/need to get to be prepared for coverage. Leave the kidding stuff at the door.

I was trying to get a point across, his question implied shock to something that seems not shock worthy.

PLEASE tell me that devs will support the Move controller

How hard is it to have Move support?? Because I want to play most of this with Move
Maybe you have 8+ feet between where you sit and your TV, but I only have 5/6 feet and move doesn't work properly at that distance. So I hope all games have DS4 support.

Expensive (unsurprising, this is the price I had pegged but with the camera), and doesn't include functional-necessities (the camera).

They really wanted to have as low of a price as they could for the headlines but its not actually that cheap.

Ok so I can understand no move in the package but no camera seems especially stingy. Especially if it's needed for the thing to function.

I hope to see an all in package announced at E3.

Just saying for those who aren't aware, this does come with a processing box, which is probably why the price is like that.

I'm still looking for a confirmation if it has a camera with it. If it doesn't, man.. Oh man. So dumb of then to do so.

That's not bad at all. Thank goodness I snagged a PS4 cam last christmas during black friday for like $20 and have 4 move controllers. I'm set.

Camera is 40 bucks....and they will have a bundle with the camera most like;y . Why would they force everyone to buy the camera when millions already have it?

We get people rightfully complaining that newer versions of the 3DS doesn't include an AC adapter, which also millions already have. We get threads about it all the time. So why should this be treated any differently?

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Will wait and decide if I'd get this. I'm already sitting on a Vive AND Rift preorder. Sigh...

The news that gets me excited more than anything is that frostbite is close to having VR support. Gaddayummm

The Adam Sessler-ing of the price in this thread is awful.

It's 400 without the camera, which can be had for less than $50. Move controllers are non-essential to the functionality of the game and honestly I wouldn't bother investing in them. Most games will likely use the lightbar on the DS4 for a lot of applications.

Where people are getting $500 is beyond me.

Sony said this would be "affordable". $399, regardless of the inclusion of the camera, is not that. When your accessory is more than the cost of the console, it's not going to be viewed as affordable to the average customer.

Well, I guess we could wait another year or two then?

So:

PSVR + extras (two Moves and camera) = $850 (assuming no PS4 drop this holidy plus $100 for the extras if one does not have them already)

Oculus Rift + minimal PC = About $1600

HTC Vive + minimal PC = About $1800

In the thread title: £349, unless you meant the camera, in which case whats the price? (Around £38)
Thanks, title was updated with EU and UK pricing.
Probably no connection to PC out of the box, but people will try to make it work I have no doubt. Just depends if they are successful.

In the thread title...
Thread title or OP didn't state that when I entered...
Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/466ord/i_did_some_math_to_work_out_the_apparent/

It's still cool as hell, but it's not necessarily going to be close to the full resolution yet.
Thanks man!

Not including the Camera and Move controller really makes me think they will get really shitty support. I imagine most devs wont even bother supporting it.

Most big publishers won't until it's proven successful anyway even if they bundled in everything at that price. Game budgets now are too large so they're risk averse.

I never said they didn't? You are putting words in my mouth.

I'll be shocked if there isn't a package that includes a camera, and $399.99 isn't just the starting price.

That isn't the case for new 3DS.

Does anyone know what he was referring to with 3D sound? Is it some kind of headphones or Dolby Atmos I wonder.

For you.
?? WTF how isn't it a 399 product? Please explain how it isn't?
At that price it should include the camera, which is cheap as fuck for Sony to manufacture. No excuses for not including it at that price point, especially when the camera is mandatory.
How much is the camera and move? did you really expect them to throw them in for free? that will essentially mean they would be selling the VR headset for less than 300 dollars, did anyone really think that was going to happen? The price is perfect for it, they just need to make consumers aware that they need the camera for it to work, but considering that early adopters have that knowledge it shouldn't be a problem.
PS camera is super cheap to manufacture. I understand not including the moves but no camera is a shitty move.
