Day, one.
A new platform....
Why would you need the camera for in addition to all the VR stuff?
Yeah. But it doesnt work without it. Its like buying a new car without wheels. Yeah you can get in it and sit in it but it isnt going anywhere. I can see this changing before launch. Would be absurd to market to the public as an incomplete item.
How anyone expected this to be $399 with camera and controllers is beyond me.
Are ya'll on crack or something?
Too high for mainstream
It's a pretty disappointing price, move isn't mandatory but it's still pretty essential if you want an immersive VR experience.
This isn't going to be a big hit, at least at the beginning.
I wonder how many people have VR ready PCs. Gonna guess it's less than 36 millionHow can people say, with a straight face, that the PC VR solutions are cheaper when taking everything into account.
The PSVR + Camera + Controllers + PS4 will be about £700
Thats the price of just a headset for PC let alone dropping money on £1000+ hardware to run it

Not bad. Still a bit too rich for my blood, but when it drops $100 or so I'll be all over it.

Well it should be easy for Sony to set up demo units in stores .
There will probably be a bundle with everything you need if you don't have the camera or the move controllers or a PS4. No need to let people pay for something they might already have.Lol at Sony shipping a product that won't even work out of the box if you don't buy a camera.
Nintendo style.
So the camera is required, as it says in small print. Terrible quality Twitter video pic.
PlayStation 4 system and PlayStation camera required.
So how much is the total package?
At that price it should include the camera, which is cheap as fuck for Sony to manufacture. No excuses for not including it at that price point, especially when the camera is mandatory.
PS camera is super cheap to manufacture. I understand not including the moves but no camera is a shitty move.
Kinda weird they didn't include the camera since you need it. Oh well. Still a good price.

Lol at some Sony fanboys saying they won already the "VR wars".
$400 with an inferior screen and fov in the HMD, without the camera for positional tracking, and without any controller.
vs $600 of the Rift (with camera, wireless Xbox pad, good audio solution, 2 free games, case to transport it and even a remote control) vs $800 of the Vive (with 2 Lighthouses, 2 controllers, integrated camera for chaperone/AR) isn't exactly winning already the "VR war". It's more like the expected, or even a bit more expensive than that, because I supposed the camera would be included, maybe even one Move controller.
A new platform....
When do mah preorders start?!
It does sound really strange. I mean they include earplugs for crying out loud.camera is required, but not included...wait what?
So this thing is going to cost me ~450 on day.
No camera means no head tracking which means your are just strapping a projector to your face that doesn't move when you look around.
Serious question. Do I need a move? Is the camera 50 bucks?
PlayStation VR requires the PlayStation Camera, which is available separately. #psvr
No camera makes sense to me. Why should the few million people who already have PS camera (who are probably more likely than the rest to buy PSVR) pay an extra $50 by default?

Camera required but not included??? Holy shit what a scam.

PS4 required? Shocking news.So the camera is required, as it says in small print. Terrible quality Twitter video pic.

Like I said in the GDC thread:
Too high for mass market appeal. Very disappointing. Will it beat OR and Vive? Sure. Will it introduce VR to the world? Absolutely not.
Does it work without being plugged into another platform?
Great. Now that we have all the prices, we can close the book on VR and wait for a new gimmick in 2018/19.
No way this will take off in any meaningful way, it will be a repeat of Vita TV.
Just too expensive for what it offers.
Alright, I guess it's about time I ate some crow then. Not that I can put much effort into it right now, as I'm knocked out by the flu.
Edit: Hmm, no camera for that price? I included the camera in my prediction, so I'm not quite as wrong as thought. I didn't include the Move controllers though.
Edit 2: Yeah, I withdraw most of that crow-eating. The PSVR is pretty much useless if you buy the $399 version. To get a version that actually works, you need to pay $499. I predicted $499 (and qualified with that it could be a potential bundle). So I leave the crows to the people who thought I was crazy. Up yours!
