Man I was a HS Senior when VX was originally announced as Versus XIII and now it's finally coming to an end. The release in near and almost to good to be true.

This has been one crazy ride ;A;

It doesn't look like they've made any changes to the world map the last time we saw it.

So this is still relevant:

Didn't they change the game into ffxii/ffxi style zonal maps?
Must be why airship presented a problem if there is no seamless world?

Doesn't sound like they said either way if airship will be controllable

No there's not been talk about zones, what Tabata's been saying is more like it's a full open world (technically) but it's not free roamable from the beginning. There will be roadblocks that are opened by story progression.

All I ask for is some nice vistas. ;P

Thinking about how the game's story would unfold, I always had in mind that the game would end
in Insomnia, with that scene of Noctis waking up in the throne and battling a bunch of soldiers. Just like Kingdom Hearts BBS sort of "ended" with the first CGi trailer of the game.

I just think Nomura has a thing of showing us the beginning and the end bits of his games before anything else. But who knows if the ending got the "peace treaty party" treatment and got changed into something else more conclusive.

Newbie here. Links to other forums aren't allowed, right?
Nah, no problem. Some sites (like Dualshockers) are banned and if you try to post links they will be replaced by "*"s.

some reddit rumor stuff. Would be interesting if true, but take it how you will. The alleged details:

-FFXV is coming to PC

-There will be a CG movie call "FFXV: The Kingsglaive", maybe you have heard of this rumor before, I can tell you its 100% real. I dont know if its a prequel or when it is coming (before or after the game)

-There will be a mobile game called "FFXV LITE"

-Theres a new demo coming called "Platinum demo". I dont know if this is the final name or codename

- PC version is obviously coming sooner or later
- I could totally see them doing that CGI prequel movie that was rumored last year already
- IIRC, last year SE posted job offers for PC-related work, a FFXV-related online game, and mobile-related stuff (maybe a companion app)
- We know a new demo is coming. This name sounds strange, but who knows.

-FFXV will get to PC, I believe it will do so AFTER the console release so it won't be adressed in Uncovered. The game's footage will be from PC though because console optimization needs some more work (I reckon).

-Likely to happen, hopefully out before the game!

-Sounds like BS but you never know. I feel like the job postings from quite some time ago are related to a companion app rather than a mobile game, but we'll see. I will just say I don't think this is true.

-Kid Noctis demo is coming and we know that. They may pull a "out after the show" or a "out on X date", but they'll certainly talk about it. Name is weird, but SE and weird names have a loooong history so rumor gets the benefit of the doubt xD

I'd rather 30 hours dense story than 50 padded.
Cactuars confirmed, but what about moogles?

Moogles are confirmed, but haven't been shown yet. They showed a teaser of a new creature last week or so, which we half-jokingly speculated could be the new reimagined Moogle design for FFXV:

Oh lord plz be this or DQXI demo

Either would be a lovely surprise, but I would imagine a DQXI demo over a VII:Re demo.
Generally in the past, Square would saddle a playable FF demo with a game they really wanted to sell more than it normally would. For example: Tobal #1 had the VII demo, Brave Fencer Musashi had the VIII demo, DQVIII had the XII demo, Type 0 had the XV demo, etc.

FFXV is going to sell amazing well regardless, so it would seem to me that if they were going to put a VII-R demo with something, it might be like the console version of Dissidia later this year, just as a thought. It would also be a nice lead-in to VII's 20th anniversary, as the original VII demo released in the fall of '96. :)

DQ, on the other hand, still isn't a huge series in the west. A demo of DQXI with FFXV might put it in the consciousness of more Westerners and, if good, inspire them to give it a shot... or visa-versa, DQXI would have a FFVII-R demo to sell more copies.

Rambling, but that's just my thought. I'd love to be wrong and get a taste of VII-R with XV. :D

Who knows, maybe they'll have a cloud-based version for smartphones like with FFXIII in Japan (Dive In service - which was shut down recently) with the "slower" battle-mode as default :p Holding buttons to automatically attack or dodge lends itself to less precise touchscreen controls. Weapons might change automatically like in Episode Duscae, and if not they could easily be virtual buttons (the UI in the Niflheim footage already looked a bit like in a mobile game, lol).

Fuck a Cactuar. Where are my Tonberries at?

Tabata said Tonberry wouldn't be in (or at least it wasn't planned yet last August). Though, I just saw that in the same sentence he also said that Cactuars weren't planned yet and today it was confirmed, so maybe Tonberrys are in, too.

That movie rumor still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Of all the money they could devote to the project, why would so much content be created and not actually get used in the game?

It's like that FF13 prequel novel all over again. You need to do your homework first before you can fully understand your video game. For a standalone title especially(or at least the first in a series) starting off with baggage seems like a bad idea.

Even if they couldn't fit it into the game, chop it up, spread tapes around the world for Noct and co. to find. FFX did that with Jecht Spheres to give you the backstory of Jecht, Braska, and Auron and it integrated with the story just fine.

I predict this is going to be a slightly better game than Fina Fantasy Type-0 and people will get up in arms and swear never to buy a FF game ever again.

Type 0 doesn't even seem comparable to this game...outside of a strong soundtrack.

I wouldn't mind a 90min movie centered around Regis, Cor, Cid, and Gladio's father (?) with Noctis & Co. as kids, if it's not really necessary to understand the main game. Based on last year's artwork:

Yeah... no thanks. I'm glad if the movie rumor turns out to be true. Gives variety. Not only that but Duscae already had those collectible frogs so I'm sure we'll see something similar anyway.

That first glimpse you get of Lindblum after entering the sky gate was something else man.

Do you have to declare weapons at the gate? Are TSA agents trained to cast silence on mages? Can you bring your own potions or do you have to dump them before you board? Do they charge exorbitant prices on ether once you get past security? Do they run small cars to pull luggage on the tarmac or use chocobos? Do they need to shut down flights for the day if someone is casting thunder nearby? So many questions.

Final Fantasy airship ports aren't exactly new. There's also one where they load you into a giant revolver and shoot you into space.

50 hour story is fine. Add the quests and my completionist attitude and I will invest a good amount of time in this game.

I'm starting to get pretty hyped for this game and can't wait for the event next week to learn more! Hopefully the frame rate doesn't dip too often.

50 hours for the main story? Probably close to 100hrs depending on how good the side quest are. That comment about the frame rate doesn't instill much confidence, but i'm trying to stay optimistic and hope for it to be stable enough..

Worried about that framerate too and I hope the game won't be downgraded too much from the January footage and the supposedly PC footage Square Enix shows next week.

I'm really excited for the event and hope they don't let us down.

I know it had been theorized, but cool to know where Titan is (red dot in middle). Confirmation of that location really helps me put the map in perspective and get a stronger sense of where everything is in relation to everything else.

But where's the desert area that's actually a plain?

Edit: unless by desert area they mean the non-modeled stuff along the borders, which if that's even more playable area, jesus.

Man, I can't wait for the event. SO HYPE.

I must say, though, something I'm reeeeaaally hoping for is a good amount of secret ultimate bosses(Ultima/Omega Weapon, beast Alphas[like, the original of certain species], more Weapons, possibly deity-like enemies?).

Really interested in the new Demo (coming this month?). It's focused on exploration and environments than Duscae was. I'm wondering if they'll give us a village or town to explore or a large (but linear-ish) chunk of the map so we can drive the car and see some sights.

I was wondering that too... The only thing that strikes me as possibly being a desert are the sandy looking areas, but those look like beaches...

That said there is Lucil which I would describe as being a desert type area although it's much more of a rocky type of desert rather than the typical sand dune type of desert.

(area surrounding city is presumably Lucil)

I expect proper deserts to exist somewhere. There are cactuars afterall.
