Italian journalism at its best!

EDIT:
and of course Grillo immediately jumps on the 1-up bandwagon: http://www.beppegrillo.it/2015/03/un_uomo_solo_al_comando_fermiamorenzie.html (beware: only click with adblock active :D )

Wow, quite some people here are banned... permanently or?

Anyway, has the Renzi speaks English videos ever been posted here?

Those with "SHISH" and "ARRAIV DA WEIV".

E' proprio un genio, haha.

I have a random question I can't find the answer to on the internet!

So when I was in Sicily I saw goat skulls on the outsides of people's houses. What is the symbolism of that?

Mi piace la bi,
mi piace la bi,
mi piace la bicicletta,
ci faccio dei gi,
ci faccio dei gi,
ci faccio dei giri;
incontro la fi,
incontro la fidanzata,
le mostro il mio ca,
le mostro il mio ca,
le mostro il mio cambio;
le mostro il mio ca,
le mostro il mio cagnolino;
le mostro il mio ca,
le mostro il mio cappellino;
e infine il mio ca,
e infine il mio caro amico
nel senso del ca,
nel senso del caz,
nel senso del kazoo.

Ah, Elio e le Storie Tese.
E questa è la vi, e questa è la vi,
e questa è la vita.
Evviva la vi, evviva la vi,
evviva la vita.
Evviva la vi, evviva la vi,
evviva la vita.
Evviva la vi, evviva la vi,
Evviva
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa...

Sono stato a Cuba,
ho visitato il Chiapas,
ho visto il Guatemala
ed i bambini del Biafra;
ho visto ed ho pensato:
tutto molto bello,
ma niente che abbia senso
se non colleghi il cervello.

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa...

Passano i secoli,
passano i millenni,
passano gli uomini
che si alternano ai governi.
Passa la palla
che il gioco è bello in tanti,
ma quello che non passa
è l'arroganza dei potenti;
non conoscono pudore,
non conoscono vergogna,
per questo il loro verbo
è solo squallida menzogna.
E prego madre terra
con lo sguardo al cielo:
illumina la strada
in questo buco nero.

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino

Mi piace la bicicletta,
ci faccio dei giri,
incontro la fidanzata
e poi le mostro il cambio.
E tutto era partito
da un mio caro amico,
per questo dico fidati
quando ti dico

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino

Il senso della vita,
il senso della morte,
le cose un po' più lunghe,
quelle un po' più corte,
e quello che dice bianco,
e quello che dice nero,
e quello che dice grigio
ma non è sincero,
perché lui dice grigio
ma pensa un po' più bianco,
ma io mi sento vivo
come Pippo Franco.

I minuti della vita
che scorrono violenti,
se io ripenso al grigio
son già le sette e venti.
Come le sette e venti?
Senti, per chi mi prendi?
Questo era un esempio
di minuto violento.
Come violetto?
No, ho detto violento.
Ah, scusa avevo capito violetto.
Lento, violento,
mi fa male un dente,
finalmente ci si sente
dopo tanti equivoci
sulla parola viole'...

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa...

E intanto il tempo passa,
si accorcia la candela,
sia quella della vita
che quella della moto
perché c'è dentro un nano,
nel motore, che lima la candela.
Te l'avevo detto, c'è un nano,
ma tu non mi hai creduto
e l'hai comprato di seconda mano,
col nano, dentro,
non hai fatto centro,
hai sbagliato, ma è umano.
Te la do io una mano
a togliere il nano
ma poi mi tengo il nano,
svito la candela,
l'attacco alla pipetta,
la faccio scintillare,
mi faccio una pippa,
riparto di scatto,
investo un gatto,
non l'ho fatto apposta.

Piove, piove,
il gatto non si muove,
si accende la candela,
mi appare Mandela,
mi dice buonasera
poi mi fa le menate,
perché per molto meno
ha sclerato in una cella.
Ma quante candele
avrà consumato Mandela?
Perché uno è presidente
non può essere stato in prigione?
Lo vedi sorridente
e non ci pensi, coglione.
Sei proprio un coglione,
minchia che coglione.

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa...

Il traffico peggiora
quando c'è la pioggia
e tutti si trasformano
in guidatori stanchi,
guidatori funky,
fanculo a tutti quanti.
Mi tagliano la strada
mentre sono un moto,
li mando affanculo,
gli mostro lo scroto.
Non scruti lo scroto
perché sei discreto.

Lo scroto è di creta
e lo metto nel forno,
un crotalo è di creta
e lo metto nel forno.
Un crotalo di carattere?
Lo metto nel forno.
Insomma io tutti i crotali
li metto nel forno.
Cosa ci volete fare?
Io ho paura dei crotali.
Accendo il forno,
mi guardo un porno,
un porno di crotali
che fanno sesso.
In che senso?
Odore di incenso,
saluto dj Cenzou,
gli dico ringrazia che
non sei nato crotalo dj Cenzou
se no ti mettevo nel forno.

In vacanza sull'Arno,
in vacanza sull'Arna;
questa collaborazione
tra Italia e Giappone
che ha dato i suoi frutti,
io li metto nel forno.
Toglietevi di torno,
perché se esce un crotalo dal forno
succede un inferno.

La visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa da vicino
la visione della figa...

Lei mi fa un bocchì,
lei mi fa un bocchì,
lei mi fa un bocchino
di sigaretta con il legno;
no grazie non fu,
no grazie non fu,
no grazie non fumo ma ti lecco la fi.

Ti sborro nel cu, ti sborro nel cu,
ti sborro nel cucchiaio.

I am doing a short term research stay in Padova ("a Padova"). Been here for two months with 6 months still left. I leave in October. I love it, although there ARE some things that seem very weird indeed but ain't that with every country that is not our own?

Just wanted to say hi.

Hi.

Now I'm really curious: what do you found "weird" ?

Goddamit Equitalia trying to scam me 50€ for an unpaid bollo I actually paid and have proof of that. Fuckety fuck them for forcing me to lift my ass and go there hoping they non cachino il cazzo e si infilino la cartella dove non batte il sòl.

EDIT: what was I thinking! Of course Equitalia ensured just the right amount of bureaucratic loopholes to fuck me even if it's not my fault. :/

I have an Italian girlfriend! Going to her hometown tomorrow actually... Catching a flight from Stansted to Pisa!

Went there back in February. Such a beautiful country.

Don't think I've posted here yet. Ciao, Italia GAF!

Grew up in the United States, but I'm second generation. Because of that, I still had a very Italian upbringing. My parents decided not to talk Italian at home when I was a kid, so I'm trying to make up for lost time and learn now. I want to be able to talk to my nonna :)

My family came from Calabria, so Calabrese GAF +1.

Just spent a great week in Italy. Cycled from Rieti in the middle of the country to Pesaro on the east coast. We were a group of 45.

Here's the route:
Day 1: Rieti - Greccio (lunch) - Montefranco.
Day 2: Montefranco - Spoleto - Casco dell'Acqua (lunch) - Foligno.
Day 3: Foligno - Montefalco (lunch and visit to a wine estate) - Assisi.
Day 4: Assisi - Osteria del Gatto (lunch) - Sassoferrato. Bonus trip after we got there to the Fonte Avellana monastery up in the mountains.
Day 5: Sassoferrato.- San Pietro (lunch) - Montemaggiore al Metauro.
Day 6: Montemaggiore - Fano - Pesaro. Lunch and bonus round along the Strada Panoramica Adriatica road.

To be honest, the route looked a bit bland and boring when I looked at maps and photos before going. But it was much, much nicer than I expected. Assisi was spectacular. Would love to go back there and explore some more. Foligno was unexpectedly nice too. Very varied terrain along the route: narrow valleys and passes with long climbs and descents, the large Umbrian plain, the rolling hills in Marche, and the beaches to the east.

Mostly great roads to cycle on, with little traffic and big views. Some were of lower quality, though, and had a bunch of potholes - a woman in the group fell and busted open her face, and had to be taken to hospital by a helicopter.

Great, unpretentious food all the way. There's so much of it, though! Is it usual to eat four-course lunches with antipasti, pasta (often two helpings), main course and dessert, along with wine, and then eat as much or even more at dinner? Keeping up with all the rich food was much harder than the cycling, which was often challenging in its own right.

Also had a ton of gelato and coffee. Having those gelato bars everywhere is amazing when it's hot outside and you're tired. The best were near the coast, in Monte Porzio (Cuor di Gelato), Fano (Pino Bar) and Pesaro (Alice il Gelato della Meraviglie). I probably had over 10 gelatos on that short trip.

And a strange thing... in the restaurants, street sellers (roses, beads) and street musicians would come in and do their thing. That would be unheard of where I come from. Is that normal in Italy? Do they do it for Italians too, or only tourists? A guy with an accordion came in and played three-four tunes by every single table, and the staff just ignored him. Somebody gave him an euro or two to get him to go away, but that only made him stay longer.

This is the second week-long cycling trip I've had in Italy in two years (last year was in Sicily), and we'll try to go there next year too. Then, it will probably be walking in Cinque Terre, then cycling in Toscana and Elba.

grazie!

Hey guys packing to leave for Milan! Will be there for 3 months and I'm hoping you guys can suggest some good places to eat/etc that will change my opinion on the city. Also, if there have any good books published recently that aren't too hard (language-wise) I'd appreciate it!

So, are there other people from Rome here?

Are we ready to scratch away the last two years of legit fighting against Mafia Capitale and pick the worst between Alemanno2, Meloni, Casapound, Salvini, Dibba and the random cosmic void PD will present this time?

I have to say it: I'm partial to the shopped Meloni posters, but Dibba and all his photos in some random african country with dozens of starving children around, those are the best too.

Does anyone know if Unieuro has some preorder incentives for Fallout 4?
I can't just pass near one to ask and their website has the preorder page completely blank, but i know they usually have 50€+3-months PS+ for a lot of coming games.
Anyone can confirm?

is there a way to type on a document that isn't word (they want $25 for the language pack) that will tell me when I'm misspelling stuff? Like a notepad or something online?

OpenOffice has a spell-check feature iirc.

And it's free!

Edit: And if you don't want to install all that stuff, you could use your browser. :lol

Oh wow I would love for this thread to take off again. I spent 5 months this year studying in Bolzano, Italy and traveling around. Among other things I met my German girlfriend there too, and I am starting to hit the phase where I really miss it.

Una domanda, ci sono delle persone che parlano solo italiano in questo thread? Sono curioso. O forse solo un po' di inglese?

thanks for that. I'm working on an assignment for my Italian class, when I'm finished could I send it to you (or someone else in this thread that speaks Italain) to see if I've made any mistakes?

Not actually that important

Don't think so, thread is relatively new and I doubt folks would register on GAF without knowing the language a fair bit... I mean, when I think about it there's actually a couple folks who speak Google-translate level English but they don't actually post in here, like the infamous (lol) dovella

Bolzano isn't really Italy tho :p

Lol is too! Nah I know, all the Italians tell me that and I even saw a sticker thrown on a tractor while hiking that said "Sud Tirol Isn't Italy."

Our universities just happened to be partners. I didn't realize until a month or two before I left how far north Bolzano is. I loved it though! And most importantly, we had a Sicilian man who had moved there to sell gelato and it was top 5 gelato I had in Italy, and believe me I had gelato in every city I could.

For those who live in Italy I would recommend taking a trip to Bolzano/Trento/Merano one weekend. Some of my favorite towns I went to.

My fiancee's family is from Merano, and I went near Bolzano to have my skiing-holidays for many many years, my post was tongue in cheek really ;)

but not really :p

Also sicilian gelato is Italy's best (also granita/grattachecca!) and thus the world's so yeah I can definitely believe that! :)

Italy GAF, I'm visiting your beautiful country this summer and trying to come up with an itinerary. We'll be there just over two weeks and it'll be me, my wife, and my 16yo son.

I've been charged with keeping it fairly relaxed, no death marches. We're restricted to public transport by-and-large, preferably trains. I was thinking of choosing a few hubs and doing day trips to local sights via train (as we don't want to lug our luggage around everywhere).

The hubs are:
Rome (3 or 4 days) - side trips to Assisi and/or Pompeii
Florence (3 or 4 days) - side trips to Pisa and/or San Gimignano and/or Siena
Cinque Terre (likely stay in Vernazza) (2 days)
Venice (3 or 4 days) - side trips to San Marino and/or Sirmione on Lago di Garda

Pompeii may be a stretch, unfortunately, but I've always wanted to see it. That and the Archaeology Museum in Naples with that amazing Alexander the Great mosaic. Sirmione looks to be a bit of a pain to get to. Pisa doesn't excite any of us much but it feels like we'd be amiss going all the way there and not seeing the tower...

Sound reasonable? Any must-dos? Anything obvious missing? I'd love to see a real Italian castle, like the one in Sirmione (Castello Scaligero). We're definitely doing the Vatican, ancient sites in Rome, museums in Florence (and getting one of those 72h passes), walking between the towns in Cinque Terre, and doing the touristy stuff in Venice (including Gondola ride).
