This is great news. I'm getting closer and closer to cancelling my Rift

With that said, I have nothing against Oculus, I just don't need both HMDs if the Vive ends up with good solid software support. I've kept my Rift pre-order until now because of the uncertainty.

I thought you could change that at the HTC/Digital RIver order/store page.

Uhhhhhhhh where

Also yeah seems like they hit a roadblock, though they wouldn't clarify if it was fraud protection or CC number mismatch.

Just a heads up everyone.

My coworker ordered the vive and they attempted to charge him this morning. Chase blocked the charge because they thought it was fraud.

He's working with chase and htc to make sure it goes through but check your statements.

Same thing happened to me. I've been contacting Chase and HTC, sounds like they know about the issue and are "working on it." HTC assured me that my order wasn't canceled just pending and that I shouldn't lose my place. I told Chase to NOT fucking decline another charge from HTC. Hope it works itself out sometime today.

Jesus fucking christ. The only way to update my order's card number is to cancel the entire order, get shoved to the back of the line, and then start a new order.

I'd preordered the Rift the first day I could, but after seeing videos from Anton Hand on YouTube it made me realise I wanted to utilise the controllers so much more than just using a gamepad. I do realise that touch is on the horizon, but after watching the Giant Bomb stream with just the gamepad and hearing reports about the halo effect from the lenses I started to have doubts.

I just beat the minimum room scale size by a couple of hundred mm each way, 2.2m x 1.7m (if I stand a couch on end I could do 5m x 2m). I realise that I won't be able to play things like Unseen Diplomacy which is dissapointing, but also having watched the Aperture repair demo it just made me want to have this capability at launch so much more. Pre ordered the Vive after work tonight and will wait 'til after reviews next week to make my final choice.

Even if I have to go with the minimum room scale size (as in if my partner laughs at me and tells me to sod off cos she ain't having a couch on end) do you think the immersion effect at this size would be worth it?

I just read the TechRadar review of the Vive Pre, which is HYPE: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/wearables/htc-vive-pre-1286775/review

Has anyone read a better review than that?
Why am I waiting for a May shipment?

No it's not. Are you in the US?

I'm in the US and I just called three times and got the same answer all three times.

They said it's because it's already in the final step of processing so they've closed all that out.

Unless you guys have some other option then please fucking post it.

How many racing games does rift have? Project cars and that mario kart ripoff?

Any non oculus funded racing game should be able to add vive support pretty easily.
With Forza coming to PC, I really really hope Microsoft gets on the VR bandwagon. Compatibility with Vive/Rift would be huge going against PSVR.

Are there any good pics of the vive and rift side by side? The vive looks massive, although I do like the more industrial look

Hopefully wave 1 goes smoothly. 4 minutes past order here and nothing happened yet

Maybe it's too late to put you back in the queue then because of their system. Did you talk to HTC e commerce through 8664498358? They're the only ones who seem capable of doing anything.

all VR requiring windows PC gaming rigs and then MS having no interest at all has been one of the big WTF were they thinking ? things of this whole VR evolution to me, sure hololens someday..but VR is now..talk about a missed opportunity.

I'm in a three way call, Chase is willing to let them use the old card *if* HTC can charge it while we're on the call. If this doesn't work, I'll call that number, it's a bit different from what I have.

I mean, your PS4 still has visible pixels too. I guess gaming is a few generations away.
It's not really comparable. I mean, resolution per degree of FoV is a lot lower in VR.

Of course, in return for that it's fucking VR, and that blows away traditional screen games in a great multitude of aspects, but that doesn't mean that fidelity couldn't be a lot higher.

Oh I know, I was just being a smartass. I've had a DK2 since they went up (just sold mine so HOPEFULLY I can get this damn order through).

EDIT: After much calling and worrying, it seems I will be receiving a call from sales to update my card information with them. THANK GOD. Hopefully nothing falls through with this.

Yup, it happened to me, but it's more to my benefit anyway since Im waiting to update my R9 270 to Pascal.

Lost my card and cancelled it. Got a new one. Asked HTC if I could update my credit card info and they said I had to cancel it. Since I want my Vive to ship as late as possible in May to coincide with the rumored May 27 launch of Pascal and not be stuck with a headset that I couldnt use due to my GPU I was pretty happy I was forced to cancel it and go to the back of the line.

As I mentioned in my latest post, this is apparently going to be cleared up tomorrow. They'll call me, as they are aware of the bug and will help me update my card info.

Quite odd. Some limitation in Digital River perhaps? Wouldn't surprise me.

Edit: A bug eh? Definitely sounds like a DR thing lol.

I tried to resist but ultimately, I need to be a part of what I consider to be the biggest gaming paradigm shift since, well, since the first home video gaming device. I started with a Grandstand 38 years ago, I consider myself fortunate to have been around since home video gaming begun, there's no-way I can miss this. I want to be able to say I was there when VR became a reality.

Just pre-ordered. It say "We will start shipping May 2016" (I'm in the UK) but I guess that's way too optimistic and I'll be waiting a while longer....

This is exactly what I feel, history in the making.

Confirmation email at 4 minutes past, no charge yet. Tomorrow please for us Ukers digital river

Got charged about 2 hours ago. East coast USA. No shipping email yet. My order confirmation email arrived at 10:02 EST. Very exciting!!!!

If the launch wasn't coinciding with kicking 2 room mates out to move the lady in I would have totally bought in for the Vive. If all goes well I should be able to place an order next month and have a dedicated 7'x10' area for it in one of the rooms.

Should be receiving a Vive as part of wave 1 next week. I bought myself a couple of telescopic supporters with attachable mounts for my Lighthouse units. Seems like a popular solution:

Yeah, I'm getting some of these delivered tomorrow. Got a new GPU on Tuesday. I'm ready!
