It stops being God of War when it leaves the mythology that actually came from. If it remains Kratos, it's going to feel like the franchise jumped the shark pretty badly. Instead of making a "god of war" for different mythologies, they are just going to take the Greek angry version and have him kill the other gods because rage.

Sorry, but what notable games use Norse Mythology? I might understand movies and other popular culture due to Thor, but I am drawing blanks on Norse.

I am just happy its not fucking Greek anymore, because Ascension was scraping the bottom of the barrel for things for Kratos to kill.

I didn't say still sue greek. I said why not other mythology other than norse? Persian is the most relevent and logical one like I explained and not well explored or exploited eventhough it is very rich (POP didn't invest in the gods mythology like in GOW games, so it could have been really great tying up to the greek one).

Kinda feel the same. I'll be pretty disappointed if it's mostly a reskin with the same mechanics, locked camera, etc. And doubly so if they're stuck making sequels til PS5 comes around :|

I think for better or worse, Kratos has become too asociated with the franchise, in a similar way Nathan Drake is for Uncharted or Snake is for MGS.

Series that constantly have new protagonists typically changed the lead after the original game.

Its completely understandable why people dislike him, but based on the sheer use of him, he has become associated with the brand for the general consumer.

He has a low poly kratos model for scale in those enivorments which is where the kratos pic comes from and why it's so bad.

Norse mythology is much more recognizable than Egyptian. Especially to westerners, im betting.

However, I feel like Egyptian mythology would allow them to really get crazy with designs. Imagine how the fights with Ra, Osiris, or Anubis would go down.
