Norse? Awesome.

Kratos? Meh

Should have gone for a guy that looks like this:

Generic and un-viking like.

So the leak is legitimate? Why is Kratos in a Norse setting though lol. Like, how does it even make any sort of sense? I get that he has a huge fanbase but it's about time SSM create a new protagonist, one that actually fits the setting. I could be wrong though and they may actually pull it off. Now I'm a lot more interested in the game reveal at E3. I'm kinda happy they are going with a completely new setting and I think they'll deliver.

It's probably Kratos' brother in this game. Wouldn't shock me. He would be similar yet different enough from Kratos, and give them a semi clean slate for Norse.

Could also be his son. I don't think Kratos used protection during all those minigames.

I'm up for some Norse mythology. Feels homey! I'm Swedish, and we learned a lot about it in school. But Kratos again, really? That... just doesn't make sense. He's from/in an entirely different mythology. Or are we now to understand that in the GoW universe all these pantheons co-exist at the same time, in different parts of the world? He's done with Greece and the jackasses running that show, so now he's off to crack some Scandinavian skull? Hmm. Oh well, they can do whatever, I guess. Should be fun either way, I'll play it!

Lol it seems many don't read previous posts and even OP.

I've always been a fan of the God of War gameplay, but never cared for Kratos or depictions of the other characters. I think the Norse setting could be really cool, but I wish they would've started fresh with a new protagonist, rather than shoehorn Kratos in.

I'm in the camp that feels it would have been better to take in a new character... leave Kratos with Greek mythos, create someone new for Norse.

pure supposition and almost certainly not true.

I'm sure if the PS4K appears next year it will get a few extra bells and whistles but that version will be the "port" if anything.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1202462

It was stated plainly and with no room for interpretation that there are developers that already have development kits for the PS4K and that they are making games that will directly target and take advantage of the higher specs of the PS4K. It was also stated that these games will in fact work for the PS4 but with considerable sacrifices made to performance.

We were also given a list of games that will be available at launch that will directly take advantage of the PS4K where the differences are and I will quote him "Significant."

GOW4 (This was the exact abbreviation on the sheet I can only assume its god of war 4)

Wow, `I don't even know how to answer the Poll. Pants and beards are both amazing. I happen to have both on right now, and couldn't be at work without either one. I was kinda 'meh' with the axe at first, but then it said it would be used to cut vines, and that's alright with me. I mean, I believe in protecting the environment as much as the next person, but if you lived somewhere and there were restrictive vines all about you would probably cut them down too. It's where fantasy meets reality. The shoulder pad is just the type of thing one would use to lean comfortably against a tree after a long day of cutting vines. It all goes so well together that choosing any one thing over the other is a nonsense of stupidity.

I was hoping it would be a clean slate purely because I haven't played the previous GoW games. I assume they aren't rich on story but I'm weird like that. I could play them but my backlog is already longer than I would like

you're not contradicting what I wrote. but you called it a port. it's the same code base. same game. same disc. one has extra graphical settings.

But nativeley developed for PS4K because it is very demanding game (hence the long wait and the need for powerful mahcine) and then ported to PS4. Juts like cross-gen games or high-end previously PC games ported to consoles with many sacrifices.

also they won't touch Persia cause they don't want to get sued by religious busybodies.

I don't think old persian deities are still being worshipped, indian yes but not persian ones. In fact in my previous post I mentioned how they brought many mytholigical persian creatures, bosses, fights and lore in different GOW games and many didn't spot that.

It is not supposed to be Kratos. He is Kratos.

Why don't you like mixing mythologies and civilisations? Civilisations and mythologies interact with each others and borrow from each others. Almost all of you forgot that Persians were connected to greeks and had wars against each others and this was portrayed even in GOW Chains Of Olympus and Kratos even went to kill the persian king and got his powers and fought their mythological monsters (Basilik) in COO and even in Ascension (Manticore and Eelephantaur). I even expected (like many) the setting to be in persian mythology (the most relevent and logical one to GOW and Kratos). I really don't see why many of you want the greek universe and Kratos to be so isolated from the whole world.

Because it's STUPID! They don't have to rely on Kratos until the end of time. He reached his end. Start with a new protagonist.

The series needs a fresh start.

you should think of it more like a PC game on a PC. a copy of Dishonored running on a 680 instead of a 970 is not a port. besides I bet GoW4 appears before PS4K is released.

Looking forward to this. Was definitely a little burned out on the GOW franchise, didn't even buy ascension after loving all the others, borrowed it off a friend and got bored pretty quickly. However I think this will have been enough time inbetween games and finally a change in mythology, happy with Norse, wouldn't have minded Egypt just glad they're finally changing.

And its getting a fresh start.

You know the main character of the franchise going to different worlds and such which I find much more interesting.

Bringing Kratos to other universes like Soul Calibur and especially MK9 worked so fine. and didn't feel contradictory or irrelevent. In fact MK9 is about the asian deities and Kratos dealt well with Raiden and Fujin at the end.

And its getting a fresh start.

That is what I am expecting too. SSM and Cory Barlog aren't dumb to work all these years for such disappointment. I am sure everyone will be surprised.

I dunno, I see where people are coming from, but it is a bit silly. Imagine if they'd just plopped Altair in Assassin's Creed II. It wouldn't have made sense.

I get that the fiction of the realm of gods gives them a little more room to play, but shoehorning a character whose story arc has already concluded into a brand new story seems really lazy to me.

I'll be very disappointed if they do it.

Fuck the haters I love this. Kratos went missing last we saw him, you don't leave that sort of cliff hanging. Going into other mythologies gives this series massive legs conceptually.

I just feel bad for the artists who've had their work leaked. It ruined what would've been a huge reveal, too.

No one complained about bringing all characters from past MGS games in MGS4 from Eva to Vamp to Naomi to Mei Ling, Meryl (which everyone thought she was dead according to one fo the many endings of MGS1) to Big Boss and the very old Major Zero, he even revived the MGS1 bosses in new characters and we even visited Shadow Moses and fought using the damaged Metal Gear Rex from MGS1.
Metal Gear Mark II and III were robots from another games called Snatcher. Hell, even Meryl squad is composed of Policenauts characters.
Let alone the despicable clown Johnny Sasaki, he even became a hero and married Meryl and looked like Snake (since he inherited some of Big Boss gens from the genome soldier project).
Even the dead Psycho Mantis had a camero return as a spirit and reacts to whteher you have a DualShock 3 or a Sixaxis only.

And yet many of you went nuts about the return of the main character. of the series.

All this Kratos hate is hilarious.

In MGSV:TPP the opposite case happened compared to GOW4.
Everyone thought they were playing the real Big Boss in MGSV:TPP but they found out it wasn't him but just a decoy having the same face as him after a surgical operation. This angered many fans. Gamers can never be satisfied whatever devs do.

Not sure everyone is "hating" on Kratos.. I actually liked Kratos but I do wish they would have created a new protagonist to go with the new mythology. It just doesn't make alot of sense to me this way.

Would much rather they went with an actual character from norse mythology like Sigurd or something like that.

Sorry for going off topic, but I decided to dig deeper into the artist's profile on Instagram. Now I'm not confirming or trying to spread a rumor, but he also seemed to be developing art for a Western concept. Could that be for the new Red Dead?
I've noticed some hashtags like #gamedesign, #videogame and #conceptdesign . Also the project started in February, and stated that it's an exploration of the American Frontier and Wild West.

That is curious how his instagram account didn't get nuked too. I bet the prohibited pics aren't hidden somewhere else there right?

Well, at some point Loki will be involved. Maybe it was him who brought (tricked) Kratos to the North to help him get rid of some gods. Classic Loki.
