I don't think it's a problem but rather a strength...if the story reaches the emotional highs it is striving for.
Thus far, a third of the way through the game, I have my doubts.
I hope I'm wrong.
I knew I said I'd be out but holy shit, Chapter 11 is already an all time UC classic for me. It's just got a bit of everything but done so, so well.
.People seem to forget there was dark shit in the previous games like Jeff the cameraman dying in UC2. It won't be depressing, just more of a focus on characters, emotions
Are there dinossaurs?
I don't mind if it goes from lighthearted to serious at times. I think it is finally putting the game in a realistic point of view, though I don't know how this game ends I have my theories but if it ends with what i have in my head then I think a more serious and TLOU vibe could be warranted because this is the last Uncharted game as well.
Henry Jackman slept on this and Civil War then, I guess.
EDIT:
Or not? It seems like there are differing opinions on this.
Spoiler this. No need to give a hint of detail.
What?

And the music was great in this chapter. Really gets you pumped for the action.
This is why I love the Uncharted franchise. The combat is great. I was able to completely stealth some sections without getting in a big encounter. Though it seems like its the most fun when you mix it up. Similar to TLOU.
What I kind of forgot about with the Uncharted games is that everything is viable in combat. Playing other shooters in the past could get you in the habit of just staying in cover a lot and shooting. Don't do that. It's good to mix it up and do some cover shooting, blind-fire, and run and gun hip shooting. Then breaking line of site and finding a new approach. It's all useful.
I guess people are just becoming more realistic after reading various impressions. Probably it means that game isn't quite as good as many expected.Has anyone noticed the trend that people always get most negative on GAF the day before reviews hit?
Happens every single time.

I almost feel like the "don't spoil me" posts are beginning to get to the point of self parody, the fact that many of them are dead serious is pretty damn funny.

what if the game is just really good without like, curing fuckin' cancer or being the second coming of Chrono Trigger
what do we do with these realistic expectations
Please don't post specific things like that, this is a spoiler free impressions thread.
Um.. what?
Oh my gosh not this crap again! I seriously hope this is a joke post. Reminds me of how everyone was panning Ratchet and Clank before it came out due to that one guy saying it was only 5 hours... -_-

spoilerphobia is at all-time high right now. Even telling people "bad things happen in UC4" could be considered a spoiler now.
Do you know many times I've been able to infer things that would happen from a TV show that I enjoy just because small things that people have mentioned to me. It makes it A LOT easier to predict what will happen or the story has less of an impact on you because you sort of knew what to expect based on the little details that you've been told.
For example, stating that it's not as depressing would suggest that probably no one dies. So if they were to setting up a fake death situation, you could already sort of tell that nothing is going to happen. I don't want to have these thoughts before I play the game. I just want to play it fresh. The more this thread progresses the more little details that are being revealed.
This means that I'll probably need to make my exit out of another UC4 thread because people continue to get too carried away. It's hard to keep away from this threads when you're hyped for this game.
Yes. Sully.
Primethius post was fine.Exactly, seems like people don't mind these "non-spoiler" spoilers, so I'll just leave the thread for now.
You'll love it then. Especially between Nate and the others, his relationships with them. The game blends huge setpieces with character building very well, IMO, to make a great Uncharted story. The story/relationship concerns would probably matter more to me if 95% of games today didn't have trash stories/characters to begin with. The Last of Us was great in this regard because the pacing was excellent and the story had a ton of well placed ups and downs supported by strong performances from all the characters involved. I never was a huge Indiana Jones style story. It was just enough to keep me interested, but I've been into the series because of twists, great performances, set pieces, and good game play. We'll see how Uncharted 4 fares.
Kind of surprised that you would feel that way. If there is any team I would give the benefit of the doubt to on reaching emotional highs it's this one.
Yowzer.
...those do not look good. lol
Spoiler culture is the worst.if you're so spoilerphobic that you dont' want any details on the game
then maybe
and just let me finish this thought before you interrupt
juuuuuust maybe
you shouldn't be in a thread dedicated to giving out details about the game
That's not "realistic" expectation. But expecting good story and pacing from this game is more realistic and fair, given that the developers were one to make TLoU. So seeing those issues and complaints about story should make many people worried. Hence, the negative.what if the game is just really good without like, curing fuckin' cancer or being the second coming of Chrono Trigger

So you mean I'm the villain now?
Joke post? It looks glorious.
What are you even talking about?lmao, the review thread will be so good.

Yes I got the same email. I ordered from somewhere else just in case but I'm hoping it's just precautionary or something. I'll be pretty gutted if it is not available for the weekend though. Especially after passing up on the £60 copies from eBay.U.K. Preorder scrubs like myself: I just got an email from SimplyGames, who let me know that they're starting payment processing now, but that "due to restrictions put in place by the Publisher we will be receiving our launch stock on Monday 9th of May and despatching all pre-orders the same day." Won't be getting it early, it seems. Anyone get similar mails from other retailers? Sony properly cracking down, thanks thieves...
What are you even talking about?
Well screen shot thread locked, other topic locked, where should we post it?
