Sounds awesome besides idTech 5, no wonder GI describe the visuals as similar to the first (which was pretty ugly), I was hoping it will look awesome but it's probably on a low budget relatively, never mind, still looking forward to it.
That said, I dont see where it mentioned it was idtech 5 in the game informer article.
Anything would better over the tech in Dishonored 1 if Im being real

One interesting thing from the article not in the OP was how there are neutral zones with a bunch of Karnacan civilians where players can get a better sense of the city. You can interact with citizens and learn about the world, discover secret passages, that kind of thing.
Dishonored 1 was one of the smoothest gameplay experiences in a long time. That game would maintain a stable 60fps on a toaster while still looking good. The art style in that game goes a long way to making it look good, IMO.

something about two playable characters/voiced protags kind of puts me off. though i guess this game's story will try to expand the mythos of the world or whatever, so hopefully it works

It reminded me of the very similar Deus Ex: Human Revolution in that regard. Great art, weak tech underneath.
It looks like a real sharp version of Wolfenstein the New Order in the GI screens, but with a similar art style, so I think it definitely improved on that front...hopefully it performs alright
the first game was not great on a visual level. i feel it was barely salvaged by good art direction. i don't expect a graphical showcase or anything from the sequel but i hope it looks passable. not liking the idtech5 roots.
Corvo sounds more fun to play about Emily, so I really hope playing as Corvo actually gives you a different story perspective. I'm gonna take it as a positive that Corvo actually has a voice this time.
I really hated how D1 punished players with a bad ending if they didn't play exactly how the devs wanted them to. It was super at odds with the open-ended design.
This was my biggest annoyance with the game. It's sorta mitigated by the fast load times of an SSD, but it's still annoying having such segmented levels, I hope D2 is more open with little/no load times between areas.
I hope they kill whales in Karnaka too. And drain their oil. And use it to fuel their engines while the city collapses under the weight of its industrialist sins, plagues and moral delinquency.
Would have loved it if Viktor Antonov was still leading D2 art direction but the work he did in establishing D1 will most definitely carry through. Jacobian architecture + technological steel plastered about is my jam. This new city seems to be heading in a bit more of a Mediterranean theme though which makes sense for the locale.
Can't wait. Dishonored 1 was one of my favourite games of last generation, and definitely my favourite stealth experience (even beating out Mark of the Ninja). Playing through the game without killing a soul and never being seen was one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I had.
Holy crap. The cast for this one rivals Dishonored 1, and I can't believe they got original Garrett as Corvo. While I wish that Emily and Corvo weren't a part of this, leaving all three endings canon
, since Emily dies in the worst one,
, I'm still happy to be getting more of this franchise and of this world, one of last gen's most fleshed out and well built.
Now, I just need to decide who I'll play through the game as first.
On one hand: a new main character with new powers...
One the other: Blink (the greatest thing to come out of Dishonored. It was so great they even gave it to Daud)...
