Watch all the seasons, they all have good episodes, but some can be really divisive depending your tastes when it comes to S1 and S2. S3 and S4 are much better than those too.

Okay, how about "Watch what you want of it, but if you're not enjoying it skip ahead 'till you're at season 3 (a.k.a. when it gets good)"? =p

At least it's better than with Steven Universe, where you practically have to beg people to finish the early episodes and get to where the show really takes off... since those early episodes are such necessary context for the later ones.

Yeah, but 1 doesn't have that dark moody atmosphere that 2 has. I still consider 3 to basically be a retelling of 2, but with humour.

I still don't reckon season 2 has any good episodes. It basically saps all the good feelings out of the show. It doesn't even get a pass from me simply due to my obsession with cartoons. I just think it's that bad. It made me feel really yuck inside. Basically every episode that focuses on Banana Joe was disgusting (in how he's treated and what happens).

In other news, came across what seem to be (translated from French) episode descriptions for Super Watermelon Island, Gem Drill and Same Old World on 4chan. Not sure if legit, no source was given. If true, confirms certain things I've been wondering about for SWI. If not... well, at least someone else is wondering about it too.

More french plot synopsii inbound, this time for Hit the Diamond. Should probably consider this a huge spoiler, since it pretty much reveals the entire premise of the episode and then some:

Steven and the Gems are amazed to see 5 Rubies, soldiers sent by Yellow Diamond, coming out of the tracking vessel. Garnet unfuses so that Ruby can infiltrate the group and discover their purpose, but she causes suspicions. To prevent them from searching the area and finding Peridot, Steven propose a baseball match: If they win, they can search the barn, if they lose, they will leave forever. It's a team of Steven, Pearl, Amethyst, Sapphire and Lapis disguised as an human against a team of rubies and a Ruby who is infiltrating them.

I love how fan theories continue to be wrong about these episodes. It shows the creators can take things in directions that people weren't expecting.

If you rewatch the Barn Mates leak footage, you'll see the Roaming Eye has 5 eyes after it identifies (?) Peridot. Now we know this is foreshadowing that there's 5 Rubies in there. The real question becomes what happens to these Rubies after this episode? Do they just go back to Homeworld? Do they become recurring characters?

Last month Rebecca Sugar spoke on a panel at MoCCA Fest 2016, discussing SU, animation in general and her other works. Excerpts from that interview went online not too long after but the official, hour-long video of the event was recently put up on youtube for all to watch:

Clocking in at just under 1 hour, it's a little too long in the tooth for the likes of me but fortunately I've found a quick summary of what Sugar discusses about the show in particular here.

The bits:

  • in a future episode, greg goes fishing
  • rebecca did the key animation for ruby and sapphire’s fusion dance because it was so important
  • in catch and release, rebecca wanted to do everything she could animation-wise with peridot’s floaty robo fingers, because “we’re not gonna get to do this for a while” (could the “for a while” mean that peridot is gonna get her limb enhancers back, but way in the future? also everything she said about animating peridot’s fingers was rly interesting)
  • there’s a part where she talks about her replationship to her brother steven sugar in relation to pearl’s relationship to steven and it’s really emotional
  • rebecca has “seen every episode of the simpsons a billion times”
  • rebecca: “you can’t wait until kids have grown up to let them know that queer people exist. there’s this idea that that is something that should only be discussed with adults, that is completely wrong… if you wait to tell queer youth that it matters how they feel or that they are even a person, then it’s going to be too late!”
  • rebecca singing “so this is love” from cinderella and playing it on her ukelele, it’s extremely cute (i made a rupphire amv out of it)
  • “aimee mann (opal), nicki minaj (sugilite), patti lupone (yellow diamond). all famous musicians. are any of them going to sing on the show?” “yes… one of the people.”
  • STEVONNIE IS CONFIRMED GOING TO HAVE A SONG (get ready for potential breakup song part 2 everybody.. aj michalka)
  • one of rebecca’s personal comics featured a “proto-lapis”, and the story was centered “around emotional manipulation, which became a huge part of lapis’s character”
  • rebecca: “i like that when the characters die they come back looking different. it’s like a safety net. if we figure out that something is tough to draw, just kill ‘em. and we can bring ‘em back.”

Saw all the synopses from the french site, and (assuming they're accurate) I'm pretty hyped. In regards to this specific synopsis though, where in the world are the ruby soldiers going to go if they lose? I don't think the gems would want them just roaming around, and there doesn't seem to be a way to get them into space. I guess it's possible that the damaged roaming eye is still somewhat functional (or they landed in a different tracking vessel), and if that's the case things make a little more sense. There is also the possibility that a fight breaks out and they're immediately bubbled.

With all that said though...the most important question (to me) is...
WHERE IS JASPER?! It'll be so lame if she's bubbled after the fight, and while I have a lot of confidence in the crewniverse's storytelling abilities I'm not sure I want another "villain on the run" subplot so soon.

"Show-ruining spoilers", right, those were my exact words. But don't let me stop you from constructing your strawman if that makes you happy. I am readjusting my priorities though, specifically my thread-reading ones. Also, I always find it funny when people talk about priorities in a videogaming forum of all places. :)

As for what I didn't particularly enjoy being spoiled, and the fact that it's not immediately obvious to any of you says quite a bit already, it was evidently the one that stands out the most, the one in all caps.

You may now resume your scheduled programming.

"Show creator says something in public" is not a spoiler.

Honestly this ot is pretty good with spoilers until the day the episode airs.

Some people(2-3) like to post spoilers without black bars right after watching an episode even though everyone else is tagging theirs.

I would suggest watching any recently aired episode before entering.

they have taken so long to air episodes that I don't even care about spoilers anymore :/ just give it to me

Yeah, I don't even fight it anymore when it comes to this show.
The spoilers are usually pretty hype, and the episodes still manage to surprise and entertain regardless of what I know.

Good thing though is that CN upped the security a tad bit and he can't access full episodes super early anymore like last time. Though I guess that won't matter too much in the end if France or Spain do indeed start airing new episodes ahead of the US schedule.
