Y is the best comic I've ever read, and I don't see that changing.

I ticked off my wife by spending all afternoon watching the Royals. One of the most unlikely comebacks I've ever witnessed.

It's probably one of the greatest stories in the medium. I have a hard time saying that any 1 book is the best because I can think of a few that fit that category for its respective genre, but it's 100% fun and absolutely his best work. Amazing story beats from issue to issue, no wasted characters, and a very accessable and sometimes funny story. Tons of amazing character growth everywhere.

tragic add me on ps4 and we'll crew up

psn: cool_calm_jon

where you at in Fables?

I've only ever read the first book. I'm gonna start back at the beginning + fairest.

I need to get the last two trades and the rest of Fairest someday. And that Bigby Wolf no pictures book.

I wish I didnt have most of it also so I could get those cool hardcovers.

Reading and really liking the new Uncanny X-Men. Goodness I'm juggling so many comics right now but I love it.

Anyways, how much time passed since the universe was restored post-Secret Wars? Because Triage looks way older now.

Oh and I adore the cast of the Exiles. I kinda wish this Sunfire was Earth-616's Sunfire because she's awesome.

List for this week:
Hellboy In Hell #10
Batman Rebirth #1
Superman Rebirth #1
Deadly Class #21
Paper Girls #6
And manga but I'm also gonna get Goodnight Punpun Volume 2.

I did laugh going through this week's releases and seeing all of the Civil War 2 variants lol. PASS.

Nice week, lots of exciting stuff for me. I am tempted by Casanova but I need to read the two other hardcovers and start the current series so it's gotta wait.

This upcoming week is going to be good in terms of releases.

Also, I read the first two issues of Sex Criminals and so far so good.

Comics!

Secret Wars Too #1 - didnt really like it. The first story with the meta hickman was funny but the rest did nothing for me.

All New Laura #2 - I love this book. Really like where the story with the clones is going and loved my boy
Taskmaster
showing up for the cliffhanger. Pls dont cancel this book Marvel, or change creative.

Carnage #2 - this continues to be shockingly good. Theres a cool Aliens vibe with Carnage stalking them in the tunnels, Brock itching to let loose as Toxin, and to top it off there's a cool cliffhanger with
Man Wolf
baby! Fun book.

Oof, Archangel is one of the worst comics I have read in a long time. The dialogue is wooden, the characters flat, the story kinda just a mess and all over the place, the storytelling itself is heavily flawed as transitions aren't always quite clear and the flow of the plot is extremely rough.

William Gibson is a living legend responsible for some of the best sci-fi ever written. He doesn't seem to know how to write a comic book. In fact the book made me appreciate just how difficult writing comics can be.

Yo that art is great tho. And I see that short clone sticks around

THANKS FOR THE SPOILERS MESSI GOD!!!

Im kidding btw

Am I the only one here who's read Sweet Tooth? It kind of blew me away. I didn't know what to expect at first, but certainly didn't expect this from the cover art. The pitch I saw in articles was "Bambi meets The Road", and it's totally that, with a little Last of Us atmosphere too. It's bleak, violent, dark, yet also kind of charming

I'll admit, I saw the cover of the first issue and passed based on that alone.

Well, your posts have landed it a spot on my "To Read Someday" list, that's for sure.

Guys, where is Lunchpod?

I'm reading Doctor Mirage and it's pretty good. I need other Valiant suggestions. But nothing that's too far in. Maybe one or two hardcover volumes.

Batman Rebirth's art is so good.

Capullo is my defacto Batman artist but I think this new guy will do just fine.

Read The Valiant. Don't know if it's on CMX Unlimited, though.

Yeah, Janin is a beast. Looks fantastic.

I just finished the Wes Craig/Nathan Fairnbairn issues of Guardians. God, I wish the entire series looked like that. Pelletier and Walker did good work, and the non Fairnbairn colored Craig issues look great as well, but I had forgotten how perfect the Craig/Fairnbairn stuff fit the series. It just perfectly captured the tone of the book.

And lord knows I'm a sucker for cosmic characters colored to look like they contain the cosmos. Fairbairn of course crushed it on Starhawk.
I love cosmic colored characters, too. Gives me that nostalgic feel for Kirby. I love shit like Extant:

Well well well then, I suppose I will have to keep going.
Said book.

Really? I still feel like it's a discount Remender's Uncanny X-Force. Granted the new arc seems to be bringing it more into its own thing, but still.

Speaking of Sunfire, I'm upset that he no longer has his Atomic Knight power-up. A cosmic book with him in it (not a solo) would be dope as fuuuuuuck.

I read it, it's probably the only non Limited series I entirely own in floppies. Considering double dipping on the Deluxe HCs. Introduced me to Lemire as well. I think I went in cause someone here posted to go try it when it first launched and at $1 for issue one it was an easy add.

Over 600 pages of comics in one day. This is honestly a record for me.

Man, that's really impressive. I think ~400 is about the most I've done.

Any of y'all who doubted Mikel Janin should be ashamed of yourselves.

You got that right. Even though I LOOOVE Capullo Batman, seeing that Rebirth preview is like a breath of fresh air. It's always nice to mix things up sometimes. It gets me excited.

Archer and Armstrong. My favorite valiant book. Just a fun and funny book. It's the spiritus sequel to Marvels incredible here comic. Also check out Harbinger.

Those IMO have been my favorites from the rebooted Valiant line.

Who was doubting him though? I think most people dug his art on Grayson and it seemed like he would do good on Batman.

I'm not a big fan of Snyder or Capullo so I'm stoked for this new run. Not a big fan of Finch either but at least it's not every issue.

In fact, Hitman is basically Preacher except without the only negatives (imo) that Preacher had - Hitman doesn't have the same excessive obscenity and vulgarity and straight-up grossness that burdened Preacher. Basically, Hitman is just a perfect comic.

Now you understand why I consider it the second best comic run after Morrison/Case Doom Patrol. Great comics ending on its own terms.

Gotham Central is dope too, so you're back on the cool comix train, Kipp

If you told me a few weeks ago that I'd enjoy the new Alice more than X-Men Apocalypse I would have cackled and slapped you across the face for such blasphemy...

... but alas, I enjoyed Through The Looking Glass more than Apocalypse.

Mostly because I wasn't pissed by how Singer treated Storm the entire time lmao.

Ms. Marvel #7
Aaaaaaaw. Curious to see where they're going though. Everyone seemed surprised by that. Damn.

LOOKS LIKE I HAVE TO WAIT FOR CIVIL WAR II. OH BOY.

The Mighty Thor #7

Also Apoc was boring as fuck

The Mighty Avengers #29
Continuing along my Inhumans reading order, we return to Slott's Mighty Avengers, where the Avengers are waging war with The Unspoken. In this issue, China is still bad at things, we finally learn that the Slave Engine is a doomsday weapon, and that Xerogen does the opposite of Terrigen, as its purpose is to turn humans into Alpha Primitives.

Really cool Inhumans stuff going on. Also there's some stuff with Scarlet Witch being Lady Loki and also Hank Pym going beyond the bounds of reality or something.

I'm re-reading the Planetary omnibus. The last time I read it was like a couple of months into when I started reading comics last year. I thought it was really cool but I had a very hard time following it then.

Three issues in now, and man, it is blowing me AWAY. It makes so much more sense to me and I'm following it so much easier. I think it's a comic for people who are pretty well-versed with comics. Like, it's not a beginner's book. But, wow, it's fantastic. I'm having a blast reading it.

Comics are fun!

Batman Rebirth #1
Green Arrow Rebirth #1
Superman Rebirth #1
Paper Girls #6

See you in six months, Civil War II.

Are those Rebirth issues this coming Wednesday? Wow I didn't realize we're there so soon.

Okay. Finished both Doctor Mirage trades. I would say I enjoyed it. I'll probably grab another Valiant book or two this week from IST since I need to order the third Goon Library Edition anyway.

---List of comics I won't be reading because I'll be playing the new Witcher 3 DLC---

Doctor Fate #13
Unfollow #8
Walking Dead #155
A-Force #6
All-New Wolverine #9
Moon Knight #3
Dark Souls #2
