Just saw the post on the official announcement...

At E3 2014, we announced the return of the Crackdown franchise with the unveil of our newest title – Crackdown 3 – and established an exciting and ambitious vision to redefine open-world gaming. Then at gamescom 2015, we showed that creating completely physical and destructible multiplayer environments is possible through the power of Microsoft Cloud and Xbox Live. Today, we are excited to confirm that Crackdown 3 will be available for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, and will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title so you can buy one and play across either device.

Crackdown 3 is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging. Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal.

We know that many are looking forward to becoming Agents in Crackdown 3 and we are committed to delivering the best experience in 2017. This decision was made with our fans and their gaming experience in mind.

While we won’t be at E3, we cannot wait to show you the future of Crackdown 3 soon.

Man... back to waiting then.

Can someone explain why people are saying that Dead Rising 4 is multiplatform? I must've missed that part. and also if it is, does that mean it will also go on Steam and not just the W10 store? Because the W10 store is overpriced and terrible.

Every game that was Win10/XB1 exclusive they made sure to note with a voiceover and big titlecard.

None of that was mentioned for PS4.

Yeah if they want this Play Anywhere thing to work they have got to get their shit together on Windows Store. I mean FFS they only just introduced the option to CHOOSE YOUR INSTALLATION FOLDER, something I've been doing since MS-DOS.

I wonder if by (xbox and) win 10 exclusive, they mean windows store/uwp only.

I mean by now that's gotta seem like a bad idea, especially with that whole Tomb Raider WS vs Steam sales were. I'm not saying everything should be on steam, i'd take origin or gog etc too, its just if they stick to UWP, and it stays as bad as it has been, it'll kill their pc sales, and probably push them off PC. Though i'd like to hope they aren't that inept.

yes, it means Windows store only. They're not going to give up just because the games may be underperforming now. The idea is that, with time, more people will be attracted to the store because it will be the only place on PC to get Microsoft games that you may want to play.

Damn. I usually like to have one eye on Gaf for commentary during E3 but I'm glad I didn't this time. I've just flicked through a few pages and it's about 80% miserable cynical salty fuckers. I thought it was a great show!

This was my take as well. I'm not expecting people to lose their shit on every announcement but jesus fuck why is everything always the BEST/WORST THING EVER!

Leaks or not there was some cool stuff and some boring stuff. Having things like Scorpio and Play Anywhere confirmed are great. Out of everything shown here are people that "meh" on everything?

Play Anywhere while telegraphed is still probably the biggest takeaway from this conference. If I can get something like the Division or Destiny (but...better games) where I can play with my brother on the Xbox, then take the same character and play with my friends on PC how is that a bad thing? Things like Neverwinter, Warframe, and DCUO getting this treatment would be glorious.

As it is I'll be able to play Rocket League with my brother PC vs Xbox thanks to this initiative.

If that doesn't excite you, fine. But to completely dismiss what this does for the console landscape seems disingenuous.

I think the only thing people would have called a legit megaton would have been something like Xbox Live Multiplayer is free for everyone. Given what they plan on doing with Cross Platform play It seemed like that was coming but was vetoed by someone who looked at the Live revenue.

With this Sony's basically its own walled garden. It'll be interesting to see if they take a similar tack and "remove barriers" (god I hate that marketing speak).

Good conference. Cool looking games and lots of gameplay.

They didn't sell me an Xbox, but they really helped strengthen my conviction to build a gaming PC. Now I would not only get PC exclusives, better prices and the superior version of multiplat games, but also stuff like Scalebound, Gears 4 and Forza Horizon which aren't on Ps4.

GTX 1080, here I come

No need to bait a listwar, the conference just ended. We all saw it.

So now you concede that I watched the conference after all?

Good grief.

The conference was lame. Just accept it. You'll feel better.

Fucking hell, that Gears Elite Controller is $200.

No thanks.

What is going on at MS?

Fair enough if you think there's a market for that but why would you give it space in your E3 show?

Madness.

Lame is an exaggeration, Scorpio announcement ensured that we will remember this conference.

I would say very disappointing on the software front. Except FH3 (which looked good fun), all others were really bad. Gears looked boring, Recore looked rough, Scalebound was dull ..

Yeah but its not like the Crackdown series was ever something that screams massive dev time so kinda wondered / worried wtf happened.

Crackdown 3 is going to be on a different scale than the previous games, with the cloud-destructible environments, so I'm not at all surprised that extra dev time is needed. Either everything is cool and they want to make it shine, or they're running into problems.

Maybe we'll know more by Gamescom.

Very good conference, Not a lot of surprises unfortunately due to most of it leaking ahead of time, but regardless it was well done.

8/10 for me.

So I've seen games get announced with CGI trailers but I don't think I've ever seen a CGI console announcement before. That's brave, Microsoft.

I found myself smiling like a loon at Sea of Thieves. That could be something special. Thoroughly disappointed in Recore and Scalebound, though. State of Decay 2 is on my radar now, but it's a wait and see approach. The rest ended up being same old Microsoft franchises which I've so far gone without for like a decade, but now that I have a One I guess I should check them out.

I think getting everything leaked beforehand definitely took some wind out of their sails, and I feel like some will hold that against them in assessing the quality of the conference. Then again, we already knew almost everything they were going to show based on previous announcements, so.... 5/10 for me. A thoroughly average presentation that was deflated by some absolutely terrible gameplay sections, a vaporware console announcement, but was redeemed somewhat by a very clear focus on gamers first.

Was a very good conference. Really well presented. MS knocked it out imo.

These games are impressive to say the least.

Score - Solid A

Is the cross-pc play going to be for ALL exclusives going forward?

I don't want them to pull some bullshit with Halo 6 down the line and ask me to buy a scorpio for one game.

So, with Crackdown missing its official, The Cloud is dead, huh?

(As a marketing tool)

I'd forgotten about that. They swapped the infinite power of 'The Cloud' for the 6 tflops of Scorpio?

It's possible that Crackdown could be held back as the ultimate example of the game that works better on Scorpio.

Wait, so Xbox games are gonna be on PC too now. That's awesome! But does that mean I'm gonna need a Live subscription to play those games online? Because that would kill it for me.

Well they announced the new Xbox. And the cloud was supposed to make the current Xbox "Xs more powerful"

I'm just glad all the marketing total bullshit is done. Matrick era synergy is in the dumpster where it should be.

Xbox did good this E3 and are no longer taking their fan for granted, which is nice.

Distributed compute is cool, but latency and the states of current ISP made crackdown run on the cloud a pipe dream tech demo. It'll leverage the cloud, but it needs local power to pull off what it's doing.

I'm glad it's not gojng to be a handicapped game to check off a nonsensical marketing bulletpoint.

I am reading all these responses and I am just not sure what people are looking for. You got games that are coming soon, games coming in the future, and new hardware both soon and in the future. Almost every single game shown looked amazing regardless of what leaked or not.

I bought both a PS4 and Xbox One at launch. I ended up having to sell both during a particularly rough money situation. I have since been looking to get one or the other again. Looking at this conference I am really looking forward to both the Slim and Scorpio. I can buy a slim this year, buy and play all the games coming out, and then next year sell the slim, get a Scorpio, and still play all those games. That is awesome for me, and with it looking to be the strongest, if it pans out that way in the end, console out there it is a compelling argument to me.

I will check out the NEO when it hits and see what that thing is going to be, but for my money the Xbox seems like the better place to be IMO, and this conference went along way to cementing that for me.

I actually think this is one of their worse conference ever. No new exciting games. And ms is not stepping outside their halo/gears/forza comfort zone.

It was more of a mixed bag than lame.

The unveiling of the XBO Slim/Scorpio on top of showing gameplay for Gears 4, Halo Wars 2, Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves, and ReCore was pretty good. Scalebound didn't really demo well but I'm still anticipating it, plus the ID@Xbox selection in the sizzle reel all seemed promising.

Minecraft, Battlefield 1, and Final Fantasy were low points for me though since they're multiplatform and we've seen enough of those already. Also as much as I liked We Happy Few it took up too much demo time.

We Happy Few definitely caught my attention. I love those kinds of twisted narrative games.

I think Sea of Thieves and Scalebound, along with Inside, We few People, and Recore are definitely outside their comfort zone. All of those games, while not new were exciting to see and I can't wait. Along with the Halo/Gears/Forza stuff as well. Also DR4 and State of Decay. Cannot wait for those.

Trying to catch up with all the announcements now after the Sweden - Ireland game. Disappointing, mainly because almost none of the games they showed appealed to me. Bullet point-wise, everything sounds awesome on paper; Scalebound, ReCore, Forza Horizon 3, Dead Rising 4, Gears of War 4 etc., but the only one that looked remotely amazing was Forza Horizon 3. ReCore and Scalebound looked like shit, Gears of War 4 was brought down by the awful dialogue and the "been there, done that" gameplay, Dead Rising 4 has never been my cup of tea but still looked quite nice etc. And what parody-Kaz said, they sucked the momentum out of their own S announcement by announcing Scorpio.

Not their best showing.

Meh conference.

Forza looks amazing.
Gears looks good.
Scalebound, not so much
FFXV, nah
Recore, ok
New XBL features sound cool
No crackdown footage WTF
Too much time spent with indies who had nothing amazing to show
New hardware looked cool
Dead Rising and State of Decay 2 were to be expected.
Sea of Theives looked really nice

No surprises, no new MGS IP

In general, I liked the games I saw. But there was very little "wow"

Well said, on GAF I Laughed and scoffed at every cloud mention, it was just silly. Gamers want fluid responsive 60 FPS at high fidelity and low response, cloud was always going to fail, local power is where its at. Impressed with Scorpio, and I have 2 Ps4. Sony should be worried.

Forza did look nice, as did the zombie games.

Gears looked like...Gears...Scalebound looked shit, FF15 needs scorpio lol

I thought the conference was pretty great despite not being wowed by much of the software.

Haven't console sales always been a vehicle to generate software sales? If Microsoft cannibalizes some hardware sales to generate more software sales I don't see the huge issue. I would imagine the percentage of XboxOne owers that also own Gaming PC's of equivalent performance capabilities to be a smaller portion of the overall pie.

By growing the Xbox Live ecosystem to players like myself (first generation I decided against an xbox purchase), they will now have additional software revenue as I'm ready and willing to open my wallet for some of Microsoft's first party offerings.

Not to mention, I will again be able to play with my long time friends who don't build or game on pc's, but have invested years into the xbox's eco system.

This is an incredibly smart move on Microsoft's part imo. People that want to continue on consoles can do so. People who enjoy gaming on pc's can do so. Xbox as an ecosystem grows as it incorporates a group of people who weren't participating at all.

I thought it was a great conference. Loved how they introduced the Xbox One S and Forza Horizon 3 and Sea of Thieves looked incredible. I think the Gears 4 play through dragged on just a little too long, but outside of that, I think the presentation overall is one of the stronger ones they had. I think ending it the way they did with the Project Scorpio was great as well.
