4chan rumors: HUGE Final Fantasy XV spoilers (plot, gameplay) + dev talk

Status
Not open for further replies.
Tabata just confirmed one of the spoilers on stream:
Returning to Lucis/Insomnia is the game's final destination.

One thing's late-game content, but I feel we've only seen the beginning of the game. When it comes to story I really only know the very basic setup. Sort of. Not even sure how it starts exactly.

That's a spoiler? Somehow I was under the impression that that would be the endgame all along.

So the leak may be 'right' about
insomnia being at around the end
and about
game length being 40 hours
and about
performance issues...lot of people said the game crashed
and
most likely about the 10 years later thing with noctis' hair being longer in the trailer

Hmmm... Unfortunately the last day has only made
me believe this leak more and more. I really hope it is not true though

Tabata said the game was 40 hours in 2014.

- The game's tagline is "Reclaim your throne." Where do people assume Noct will do that at towards the end of the game?

- Tabata in March: Game's story upped to 50 hours from 40
http://www.novacrystallis.com/2016/03/final-fantasy-xv-now-takes-50-hours-to-beat-the-main-story/

- Dark from Digital Foundry saw and played the Xbone and PS4 versions at E3 and said they run smoothly. Big improvement over the demo's we've recieved.

- Leaker also said the devs have no clue what to do with DLC except one about Gladio and they're more worried about the main game.

From the stream Tabata mentioned possible Coliseum DLC & DLC plans are finalized and they have a small group of people already working on it.

Just to play devil's advocate, the leak was almost a month ago. A lot of the claims made then could have been accurate at the time and are no longer accurate because they've taken steps to get PS4/XB1 demos playable for E3, thought about what DLC expansions they wanted to cover, etc.

Frankly, its accuracy doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. This game will be judged on its own merits in 3 months... and that's quite a bit of time to patch up any lingering issues.

So he got the summons right too.

Each new piece of information is giving this guy more credibility...

EDIT: My bad XD platinum demo feels like ages ago

Carbuncle was confirmed as a summon when the Platinum demo came out. You've got to beat the demo to have access to him in the main game.

Umm we knew about Carbuncle since Platinum Demo.

They told when it released that if you finish the demo you have Carbuncle in FFXV.

The thing that's making me doubt the leaker is the official leak of Luna's brother, Ravus. The leaker did not mention him, and Ravus is obviously going to be one of the most important characters due to his magic, his role as an oracle, and his affiliation with Niflheim.

(Also, someone who officially worked on the game already refuted the leak.)

Point is he didn't go into fine details with the characters, he laid out basic plot points, but Tabata basically confirmed where the end of the game takes place, and who do we see on the Throne in the trailer. It's exactly as the leaker said. Something tells me he could have been one of the many press/journalists in the Square HQ over in Japan getting access to the early parts of the game but probably did some snooping and tossed it all on 4chan to not get fired. Though on the other hand..

What are these really?

This thread should be closed. This is just fake. Kingsglaive website already leaked that the hooded character is
Luna's brother
, and this person says the character is not even part of the main story, when Tabata affirmed last montht that he was still in.

Also, he says that there's almost nothing about Gladio on the game. Well, then
what about his father/uncle Claurus being one of the confirmed antagonists?
The information contradicts official bits of the story.

Other than the name, what else did Kingsglaive leak because I'm not seeing anything else?

How do you know the hooded character lives past the movie? He could very well not be too important to the actual story even if he is there.

There is no confirmation about
Gladios dad being evil
that was always an assumption, stop imagining things.

The character is voiced by the same VA that voiced him in Versus/Nomura XV. It's the same hooded man. And just by knowing his name you know he's pretty important to the story.

Tabata has already confirmed that the hooded character is an important character in the game.

Gladio's familiar listed under Iedolas along with the rest of the villains.

I'm guessing those three gods are Tabata's interpretation of the Warring Triad. Regis released them to create a barrier around Insomnia, which caused the Plague of the Stars. He knowingly doomed the world in order to protect Noctis. He sent Noctis on his journey in order to stop Niflheim and the end of the world--Regis's way of redeeming himself, even if he has to die in the process.

Niflheim doesn't know about the true extent of the Plague of the Stars, but Ravus, Luna's brother, does. He even mentions it in the 2013 trailer.

Well then, I think we could all agree that cutting out the Versus XIII opening for the movie was a bad idea?

Like, I still don't know what's really backing these rumors besides the impending desire some people have for this game to suck and the fact that he guessed a really obvious story outcome that has been tease for the past few months. The only suspicious thing I can give all of you is the Ardyn scene, that's all.

Thats the biggest worry though, literally the end of the game.

If the fact that
Ardyn is 2000 years old
might be true they better have a good explanation. Tabata literally said that Lucis was the end of the journey.

Also I don't want it to suck, I still have the Ultimate collectors pre-ordered and i'm not canceling ever.

Did Tabata say that? I haven't watched the entire Q&A but he doesn't mention it when he talks about it being the site of a battle, unless it comes up at another point.

edit: Ah, I found that part.

The leaker has said nothing about the hooded character. That question where he/she says 'they aren't in the game' is about some other random character.

I am desperate for it not to be true as well, and sure some of what they said could be good speculation but other not obvious parts like
10 years later & Ardyn...given kingsglaive trailers, number of summons etc sound true too.
. At least those things to me seem 'not obviously thought of through speculation or previous info'

Finally should this all be an elaborate hoax, why? Why would they go to such lengths...seems like a waste of time. There is no smoke without fire and lately rumours have been true for high profile things...The Force Awakens plot was leaked months beforehand for example...

To get attention?
Because for some reason they hate the game or the project?
To troll fans and have a laugh at the reactions?

You know the usual shitty things you see on the internet :p
Most of this has already been proven either false or non sense.

To leak a month before E3 seems dubious if you're faking. That being said, I'm sure majority is made up with some truths sprinkled in.

But they had already revealed the demo name and got it right. So they wanted more attention?

The post just doesn't sound overly attention seeking/trollish apart from the 'no more than 2 hours is playable' bit I guess.

The design changes and rewrites bit since December when the game was 'playable from start to end' also sound plausible due to stuff like this 'wait' system and battle modes being revealed so late.

Anyway I pray you are right and this is all false!

I'll say this much about these rumors. It's odd that they have so little to show of the game, when it's coming out in three months. I'd expect a big blowout Zelda-style at this point in time. It's supposed to be this massive open world RPG but we've literally been seeing the same shit and locations the last couple of years. Journos were only shown the first couple of hours, right? Isn't that pretty much the demo they released?

I didn't read all of the rumors on the off-chance they're real, but considering the game's troubled history I wouldn't dismiss them entirely.
I dunno what you're on. We've seen three of the game's major cities (four if we count Insomnia), some long looks and some short glimpses of several big overworld regions (not just Duscae), lots of dungeons and whatnot. The only thing we've seen relatively little of is the story of the game.

I don't believe the "leak", but this part actually makes sense, weirdly. Supposing that some points in the story leak are true,
if you battle Ardyn as well as Ifrit at the end, that might imply that Ardyn is Ifrit. That would explain why Ardyn is 2000 years old, and it would fit with Gentiana being Shiva's human form. Ardyn being an Astral would also fit with his personality of "playing" with humans, and the transformation would make for a typical FF boss.

More evidence to support this theory can be found in the names. This game loves using Latin and Italian for names of stuff, and "Ardyn" might be derived from the Latin (and Italian) verb "ardere", which means "to burn/scorch" ("ard" being the stem, so any word beginning with "ard" is related to fire). It kind of fits!
Also, Gentiana is the name of a (usually) blue flower, so that might be a loose connection to Shiva, but this is quite far-fetched.

And one last point in the story leak's favor comes from some poster on GameFAQs: Gentiana appeared in the latest episode of Brotherhood, and it's interesting how it looks like she has the same age in that episode as in the game, even though everyone else looks way different since it takes place years in the past.

Of course, all of this could just have been made up by the "leaker" as well so that it would make sense if people thought about it. But that doesn't mean it isn't a good theory for the actual game. Again, I don't believe the leak, but the theories it's made up of aren't too bad.

We already know 4 summons that are in the game (Titan, Ramuh, Leviathan and Carbuncle). Obviously that's not all there is. I'd wager a guess there will likely be at least 2-4 more that we haven't heard of. It's not likely they'd spoil all of them this far from release (and hopefully at all prior to release).

They already revealed the new battle mode near December when a fan asked about difficulty levels on the forums. It wasn't something they just came up with after completing the beta build.

"The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes. By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo. We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game’s launch so stay tuned for more information.”

Leaker also said this about towns outside Lucis:
"The other cities are JRPG town sized, nothing special"

They just said in the stream this is an explorable full fledged town.

The wait system has been around for a long time now. Many months ago they announced that there were 2 separate battle modes. One was described as being more relaxed and tactical. Tabata described the wait mode in a similar way at E3.

Edit: oops, didn't realize Benzy had already addressed this.

With regard to Ardyn,
it seems pretty clear to me that this story of a war between nations will eventually lead into a broader conflict related to the world's origins and the crystals, as depicted in that artwork from the end of Episode Duscae. If he is indeed Ifrit, perhaps he is being positioned as the opposing force to Eos or whatever god lent the power of the crystals to the founders of the four nations – a devil, essentially. That would explain why he would be pursuing the crystals, in order to work his way back into the world. This might also explain why Noctis is recruiting the other Astrals to his cause.

Gentiana looking the same in Brotherhood makes me thing
the part of her being Shiva is real
Also Noct being all sleepy and the part about him sleeping mmhhh...

You can summarize the story of Type-0 without even mentioning half of the characters,it could be the same for FFXV

I'm still going to enjoy this game a lot because I love the cast and gameplay we've seen so far. People just shouldn't expect it to look as good as the PC build footage they've shown off, it will still look better than Platinum Demo however. I'm also not expecting a story that tops classic Final Fantasy's. I think if people go in with these expectations they'll have a great and enjoyable RPG to sink their teeth into.

Well, some of the stuff there seems to line up with what was shown at E3 so I guess we'll know for sure when people can play the full game for themselves.

Yeah, at this point, the only way to know is to play the game when it comes out. We'll find out in a few months.

I think I'm going to dislike this game based on combat alone. Story and characters don't matter to me if the game play is as bad as it was in the Platinum Demo and based on the OP, sounds like it is.
