Wait, so they think Zelda's in a rut? I thought Zelda was doing just fine, even if every game between Skyword Sword and now has been a remake/built off of a previous game.

Remote or wired?

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Oh to be an investor just to ask "So, you're taking a gap year?"

man they're really serious about this "people are gonna steal our ideas" shit

they better announce this thing apple style and release it the week of if they really don't want people "stealing" their ideas. jeez.

I'm curious what they think could be successfully and threateningly copied in 9 months as well if that's really the reason for delaying the unveil.

Well neo and Scorpio are still in development, maybe they think they can easily add those features

I'm pretty sure they have that in mind

Skyward Sword was kind of a signal of the Zelda series stagnating, honestly.

Yeah it's really odd

Has me thinking it's tech that's readily available and potentially cheap, but hasn't been applied to console gaming yet

It wouldn't necessarily need to be copied in 9 months; the sooner the competition finds out, the faster they can rush a product to market. That can be damaging even after the NX has launched.

With that said, Nintendo's obviously paranoid to extreme degrees at times--including possibly this one

So am I.

Can't be something to hard to do or implement if it can be copied in less than a year.

"Shinshi: making identical products in long span in the Christmas season, production is variable. Do not move production automation is easy, but change is hard. Take to communicate closely with contractors, have been adjusted. NX is preparing for production. You can automate where ever has been discussed."

ahh yea

I was saddened to learn I'm taller than Reggie when I met him at the retail partner meeting during E3 2015. It's like finding out you're taller than Batman, which happened to me a few days later.

Hahaha

I feel bad for you. 5' 9" here, so to me, he's still a big guy.

Back on topic: most of the questions are really poorly made...

Q: Labor prices on China are rising, will you move to robot factories?

A: No, NX is already preparing for production. (robots could help on holiday seasons, bla, bla)

Just the most interesting parts.

Honestly, I think its a control integration like the oft rumored scrollable shoulders, and some other minor things. But its more that, right now, they are just playing chicken with Sony on the Neo announcement.

That or they really do have something impressive. /shrug

Uh... is that the kind of thing they can even appreciate? How amazing Zelda is?

Would they care?

EDIT: Miyamoto, don't go there!

I'm gonna laugh when this idea or gimmick ends up being hated on by the masses and laughed at by Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has a habit of thinking their ideas are the greatest ever and then failing to read the market or poorly executing the idea.

If this brand new concept doesn't blow people away I will laugh because they are hyping it up like it's the next Wii.

I shall beware statements you make about the NX.

It's like finding out you're taller than Batman

Happened to most of us when Michael Keaton was cast.

Everyone is expecting a hardware innovation but I think it might be a software one this time around. Or a combination of the two.

Yeah, Sony stuck a gyro in the PS3 controller in the six months between the Wii controller reveal and E3 2006.

By 2009 Sony had Move revealed and Microsoft had Kinect

Btw the answers being given this time around, just from the quick translations seem to indicate Nintendo execs are at least somewhat more confident in the NX as a product than they were before

I'm guessing they finalized a timeline for the console and what they want to do with it

Either that or Zelda doing so well at E3 took some pressure of their chests lol

The impression I got from Sony was that developers just aren't ready with impressive enough visual upgrades yet given they've only had dev kits for 2-3 months. The system itself seems bog standard.

It really needs to be for it to be truly innovative, I think one of the larger problems with the Wii U was that a lot of the software didn't make the gamepad's use elegant, and there were often a lot of strange hoops to jump through to do certain things. Software needs to be simple and easy to use, and the Wii U failed with that in that respect.

SixAxis is a great example! Even if didn't amount to much, the possibility that it could is there.

Oh I meant just on press/discussion, not what the Neo actually is. If Nintendo announces first, Sony could announce days later to steal the thunder, so to speak.

Question 12: Movies, working on it, partners, partners, d̶e̶v̶e̶l̶o̶p̶e̶r̶s̶, partners

It's not that it can be copied in the 9 months, it just allows them to be the only one in the market with that idea for a tad longer if other decide to copy it right as it's revealed.

Still, I really want info. The uncertainty is killing me.

Don't forget that Nintendo announced the rumble pack as the "jolting pack"...delayed it past launch and SONY put rumble in their controller before nintendo because of it.

I agree with Miyamoto on VR, it cant be enjoyed for a long period of time and for people like me with motion sickness, even shorter periods. Based on the cost of the thing will it be worth investing so much money in it?

Nintendo should just allow its system to run VR and partner with another company to use its VR systems on NX.

The "we don't want to reveal anything for fear of our ideas being stolen" is the "I have a girlfriend but she's in Canada" excuse of the gaming industry

I hope no one is actually buying that. I think the NX is going to sweet and I'm going to buy it day one, but that shit is insufferable to keep listening to

"Miyamoto: I heard VR was a hot topic at #E3, so I went to check it out. It was on display, but it wasn't what I expected. We're also researching VR, so we have the core technology. Long play sessions are an issue. We want to release something that can be played for long periods, carries value, and is affordable. We want parents to feel at ease. Peoples' reactions at #E3 were good, but... (Redacted as Miyamoto said that this is for here only, not the web.)"

Sounds like Miyamoto just trashed PlayStation VR. I assume the redacted part is him telling shareholders that Nintendo would never release such a half-baked product.

From what I know, Zelda games don't sell anywhere close to how they do overseas in Japan. They might be talking about that.

Or that Sixaxis disaster and poor excuse from Sony about Rumble causing interferences...

Yeah I'm getting sick of it myself. The more they keep saying it, the higher my expectations of the NX go up. It's a dangerous game.
