Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I live by a lot of stops and don't get shit at home

Get tons if I walk outside tho

And never use incense if you aren't moving

Edit: to clarify, I get about one Pokemon spawn every 30-45 mins at home while 1 spawn every 1-2 mins waking?

Uh sorry, but I tried an incense while sitting on my porch yesterday, and about 8-10 Pokemon spawned in the 30 mins. Just because something happened to you doesn't mean it's the norm.

I think it's more a YMMV situation, different for everyone.

It spawns one Pokemon per 5 minutes while stationary.
It spawns one Pokemon per 200m or one minute while moving.
It's better to move.

Btw, about hatching eggs; game doesn't register the steps I've taken that well though. You walk 500 meters and the app only registers 100...
i think it registers them later because there must be a way for the game to calculate the distance and speed so that you can't hatch eggs from driving 80 miles per hour. unfortunately, the game has no way to know whether you're actually walking or not. unlike the pokewalker, it uses gps, not a pedometer.

The game itself is shit, basic, and buggy as hell. It's when Im with a few mates chatting to randoms about the game and walking around together then the game shines.

Pretty much. When you're running around with a group of friends, it's great.

When you're alone and the game freezes when you're trying to capture a squirtle, it's balls.

This game is crazy. I've never seen anything like it. Hundreds of people at the Opera House tonight. Charizard appears on the radar and suddenly everyone is running around trying to find it. Someone finds it and then the crowd starting running towards that area.

Mine ran away but others were more lucky. Pretty amazing phenomenon.

Is the camera moving when you move borked? It shows the complete opposite direction for me... Compass & Maps apps are working fine though. Had the same issue with both AUS and EU versions of the GO app. Several reinstalls between the both too...

I'm honestly starting to get tired of this. Not because the game itself, but no matter where I go, or how much I walk, its only Pidgeys and Rattatas. My pokedex is only at 30 because of this.

Also the higher I level up the more Pokemons escape, even those with lower CP :(

Take your time, your collection will eventualy grow bigger.
Niantics took good care of its first game by adding a lot of features and updates so really you should play for long run.

This morning I got sent a data dump for the game. Seems there's IVs (Individual Values, sort of akin to genetics if you're not aware of standard Pokémon fare) in the game, there is a max CP level for each Pokémon.
You can only go up to an absolute maximum of 40 "levels" of a Pokémon (but most will be a lot less since they start higher).
STAB is in the game at *1.2 rather than the main game's *1.5, so if you have a Pokémon with a move that matches its type, it's definitely a better option to use for a gym battle.

Currently got a few friends trying to properly decode the data and will put some full lists up on my site at some point. The systems are surprisingly complex considering how simple the gameplay is.

Transferring Pokemon to Sun/Moon confirmed.

Woah you were there too? I witnessed that. I managed to get him as well with just normal poke balls. This game is a real phenomena, I have never witnessed anything like this.

Thanks, hope updates comes soon to add more variety. I love going out to find new mons but sadly it's not happening for me.

Of course, first priority are the servers now.

Pokemon Go |OT2| Sun and Who?

Servers seem a bit more stable for me now, just caught a Pidgey with no crash.

Soon as something interesting shows up it's all gonna go to hell, isn't it.

A few Reddit users were commenting on how they suspected dedicated European servers have been rolled out due to the improved ping. Really hope that's the case and we can expect some stability going forwards.

My backyard was full of pokemans. Caught Starmie!

Finally level 5 and all the gyms have 1k+ pokemans guarding them. Should I still try to win them or will I lose my pokemans?

Haribi

Why isn't there a Star Wars RPG? And wouldn't James Bond make for a pretty good FPS?
And servers are down again, fuck this game seriously

I have that phone, and I don't think the game's officially supported on it. I have it side-loaded and it works fine (albeit with bad performance), but the AR/camera mode doesn't work, so you can't see Pokemon in the actual environment (just a basic 3d forest environment). So maybe I would say no, unless you're desperate and can live with the bad performance and lack of AR-mode.
