Rainbow Six: Siege |OT| Idris Elba sold separately

Got the game this weekend, and love it, I was in the closed Alpha and open beta and liked it then but didnt want to pay full price, so I waited.

My issue right now is those idiots who kill their teamates as soon as the match starts. I wish they had it if you kill 3 teamates in a session which includes all rounds, you are auto kicked out the match, thats how COD hardcore mode does it.

No way anybody accidentally kills 3 teammates in a 3 out of 5 match, if they do they need to be kicked anyways.

Nice this will work for me, i'm not level 20 yet, but will def play ranked, also I wish it had no team kills in the prep phase

Patch out tomorrow that adds a lot more team-killing penalties :D

But slowly learning. Shield guys can be troublesome if I am caught without nitro though, what's the best way to take one out that has there backs against something like a reinforced wall? If there's no nitro/grenades/team mates etc?
Remember, shield guys are more afraid of you than you are of them! One good way to learn how to beat them is to just play as one, and see all the ways people beat you. You'll realize that shield life is tough.

They are super loud, so it's best to deal with them before they are in a troublesome position. They are also super slow. If they want decent protection they need to crouch walk. That means you can run away. If they chase they're exposed to fire. And if you're a fast character, you're just going to plain outrun them anyway.

Keep in mind that they'll often have a buddy. Keep an eye on the riot shielder, and definitely shoot him if he tries to kill you, but don't have tunnel vision. If there is another guy, you probably want to deal with him first.

They can easily be baited. It takes them a second to get into ADS to get a credible shot on you. They really really want to do that. You just have to make them think they have an opportunity. So one prized tactic is the 'fake run'. Sprint away from them for a half second, then turn on them. Time it so they're going to decide to ADS as you turn back, and blow their head off.

Blitz is kind of a special case, because he has that stupid concussion charge. With him, if he tries to concuss you, and it fails, chances are you're about to get a free shot. It's really hard for Blitz to tell if he got a clean stun on you, so use that to your advantage.

And never underestimate the YOLO knife charge/stun. You're vulnerable to hip fire spam as you near, but if you have a covered approach, or the element of surprise... YOLO!!

Some examples of fighting riot shielders:

http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Pegasus Actual/video/19370960#t=50
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Pegasus Actual/video/19370697

Also... when fighting Blitz it's handy to be able to run away while blind:
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Pegasus Actual/video/19529671

I don't even know if the knife stun thing works against Montagne when he's fully deployed, here's a silly fight I had before I had any idea of how to fight riot shielders:
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Pegasus Actual/video/17570657

Regardless his shield takes a while to retract, so you just need to keep track of him, not dedicate your whole life to discouraging him like I did there.

So does anyone know what's up with the Ubisoft Challenges? They've just disappeared for my friends and I. Possibly respecting the tragedy in France re: the GIGN challenge for Bastille Day perhaps.

Yeah Ubi announced they'd be suspending the GIGN challenge due to what happened in Nice. Every account will receive the flag charm sometime next week.

From the subreddit

We are deeply saddened by the attacks in France on Bastille Day. Out of respect, we ended the Bastille Day Challenge and will be applying the French Flag charm to all accounts that own the game as of today. We will update you with the date that the charm will be added to your accounts next week. -Its_Epi

The matchmaking in this game is all over the place. I play 8 games where it will take no time to find all players and then the next 4 games can take 3 minutes just to find a game. I've also noticed anytime I get a good team going and we all pick for a rematch we get thrown into separate games that are already on the 3rd round and having no clue what map or even game mode its. As for the netcode it's either with you or against you. I was on Oregon in the Office area with the stairs and someone busted throw the door so I processed to empty a magazine into Ash but that person two shots me with the pistol. If they could fix matchmaking issues and netcode issues Siege could become a great game.

Un ranked is 100x more for than ranked for me. Everyone just running gunning and having a good time. Don't think I'll ever go back. Or maybe I just suck, lol.

How is this doing on xb1? Thinking of picking it up for it (had it for ps4 but since that has conked out ill wait for neo I guess) debating if its worth starting over from scratch on xb1 or just catch up on my backlog

My friends just started playing the game again, and we're having a lot of fun. However, I keep hard crashing. Game freezes on a still image and I have to manually restart my PC. Nothing else works.

I run on a 660 and I have a i5-4690k but I haven't overclocked it. With my settings I generally have a 76fps, so I don't think the game is pushing it too hard and yet, best I can tell, this is the only game that causes me to crash within a single hour. As you can imagine, this makes playing ranked matches rather tedious.

I've done basically everything short of a clean install of windows. Anything I might be missing? (Verified game cache -- also it was a fresh download just last week, updated drivers, driver cleansed and updated again, checked for memory issues with memtest, tweaked some in game settings, stopped a number of resource hogging programs etc.) I've read that there can be some Steam / Ubisoft compatibility errors but I haven't found much about how that error manifests itself. Long story short, any ideas for things I could try before doing a clean install?

Thanks in advance.

I've been playing on XB1 for the last couple weeks or so, and there's a very healthy base in my experience. Avg. MMing time in casual is ~40-1:30, 60-2:30 in ranked. Typically there's a mic or two on each team.

Do Frost traps prevent the person getting trapped from looking around?

You can a little, but I think it's very limited. Maybe 45 degrees either side from the way you were facing when you got trapped.

Also, interest in this seems to have dropped off a cliff lately. Not just on GAF, but very few of my friends still play it, either. They really need to update it more frequently than once every 3 months.

The other day I was thinking it would be cool if there was a ~5-10% chance of a difficult quicktime event that allows you escape Frost's traps yourself.

Things will probably fluctuate again once S3 and the new ops come around.

Sooo I have been playing ranked quite a bit and It DEFINITELY gets harder the higher rank you are. I currently am bouncing around between level 2-3 Gold.

Curious about if you guys have been adjusting your sensitivity for PS4?
I've had mine at default since launch but am realizing that may have been a mistake.

I've been leaving feedback through XBL whenever I am egregiously killed by a teammate, and I just got a message telling me they took action against one of the offenders. Feels good, feels really good. Its probably just a temporary ban, but I am fantasizing that they bricked his console 😊

Gotta love facing the other team with high pings.

Yep, doesn't look like it did you any favours :p

Went full crazy and took the sights off some of my weapons and chucked on suppressors too. The casual usage of "rip" has never been more abused. The compensator as an attachment is invaluable.

Excited for season 3.

I really hope we see a lot of default operators buffed or given new life

Is there a posted timeframe for the next season? I just started playing this month but I'm already looking forward to new Operators.

They'll do a reveal at the xbox finals this weekend (july 30th) and we'll probably get an estimate then. PC finals is the weekend after, so I'm guessing it'll come out some time after that

Rewrite

Not as deep as he thinks
Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Skull Rain expansion is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 2. As with previous Rainbow Six Siege expansions, Operation Skull Rain includes two new Operators: Caveira and Capitão, both from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE). The new Operators will be instantly available to Season Pass holders, who will have exclusive access to them for the first seven days.

Caveira is the defensive Operator of the two. As such, she possesses the “Silent Step” skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates’ location. Her arsenal includes an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.

As the attacker, Capitão carries a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius, as well as micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitão also has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding her available arsenal.

Operation Skull Rain will also have a new map for teams to do battle. Set in a Brazilian favela, this new map supports exterior shell destruction, making it Rainbow Six Siege’s most destructible map to date. The new map will be free for all players.

Finally, the development team will also add several tweaks and improvements to the overall Rainbow Six Siege experience. Perhaps the biggest of these is the addition of a Tactical Realism custom game mode. By popular request, the Tactical Realism mode prevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD. Additionally, there are no kill confirmations, and more realistic magazine management will be put into play. The idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.

A new angled grip attachment and a new surrender system will also be introduced in the update. The angled grip makes the transition between hip fire and ADS much faster, creating a faster-paced style of combat. Meanwhile, the new surrender system makes it possible for your team to surrender during a ranked match with a majority vote, but matches can only be surrendered before the third round.

More details on Operation Skull Rain will be revealed during the Season Two Xbox Pro League Finals livestream on July 30 at 3AM CET
This was posted on Ubisoft's website and was removed.

From their blog:

Community feedback on the Forums, subreddit, and social media has been critical to designing the Game Health Program for Season 3. The health improvements include animation clipping, replay system, exploitable glitches, and anti-cheat. You read that right; we will soon be deploying the first integration of an additional anti-cheating system to our game: BattlEye.

This cheating countermeasure is at the heart our Health Program. BattlEye is a client-side anti-cheating system that prevents players from loading the game when detecting cheats. We’ll soon be in position to share the exact launch of the preliminary integration of BattlEye (Beta).

To heighten the well-being of your game experience, we also improved the Kill cam accuracy. We tweaked a few things to make the replay camera as accurate as possible from the perspective of the player.
Another major Game Health improvement for this season is the dynamic clipping for skinned objects. This reduces greatly the amount of body parts leaking through walls and shield.

Interesting changes and additions. Tactical Realism sounds like it could be fun! I don't know how I feel about the silent operator and interrogation system, though...I wonder if there will be more intentional team kills if your buddy goes down and you can see him but can't get to him in time?

words cannot describe how excited I am for this update. cool-sounding operators, improvements to killcam, FUCKING BATTLEYE etc. siege continues to be my favorite game by far this generation

Glad to get some new operators. Wonder how that interrogation attack is going to work.

I hope they have a way to track a "Mercy Kill" kinda thing. I mean, if I'm incapacitated and far enough away that I can't be revived, but a teammate can shoot me...I'd prefer to be shot dead than give up the positions of the my team.

Maybe I am just not that good at sneaking up on people but I gotta feel like it is going to be pretty damn hard to interrogate someone without putting yourself at a huge risk of being shot by the other team.

As soon as it happens the person being interrogated is going to say "Fuck help being interrogated" and likely teammates will be close by to come to his aid. It better be a pretty quick deal to figure out where the enemy is or you are kinda fucked.

The attacker sounds pretty sweet but I am not really likely the fact that every defender is a roamer now. I dont really like his weapons but I play as mute a lot right now because no one picks him and wants to stay in the room anymore. This new operator is going to make it 6 solid roamers on the defender side (Jager, Bandit, Frost, Valkeryie and Pulse).

FINALLY ANTI CHEAT

Caviera sounds good. I'm concerned about them making yet another defender with high roaming potential and an auto shotgun as well as c4. Her interrogation ability makes it so you will probably want to send 2 people to take her out when you know shes roaming as well as one could be too big a risk.

Agreed. I don't think the devs know that even without roam friendly classes, Siege is still a game where flanking the attackers is extremely powerful just because of how the maps are designed. Attackers have to dedicate people to watch way too many routes as they are on the attack already, and then you have defenders made specifically to exploit flanking and it just gets tiresome. Every game you have a Pulse or Valkyrie popping out of a window somewhere and taking out half the team with a c4 or auto shotty spam before they can react.

Ya, it is getting more and more nerve racking just entering the building now as an attacker. Watching flanks constantly, checking for valkeryie cameras everywhere, watching every window and every spot that is not reinforced could be a small kill hole.

I wonder what the statistics are of win ratio being on attacking/defending. Blackbeard is a great attacker and can be pretty OP hanging outside of a window but Buck is kinda useless imo, I would rather have almost any other attacker than him.

Another thing I forgot to mention is the new trick defenders use with window barricades where they melee them twice at the very bottom so it doesn't show any damage, then they are able to instantly pop out on people without any noise of busting a barricade to make it vaultable. Siege is really turning into flanker's paradise and I'm missing some of the more straightforward fights of pre-frost Siege.
