Should Sony announce a psVita2/psp3 in response of the nintendo NX being an handheld?

Yay or Nay?

As many people have said they risk to lose the japan market whitout a new portable console.

EDIT
What about a PS4 Portable?

All the ps4 games on the go (no internet connection is needed).

Absolutely love my vita, play it at least as much as my ps4. I'd buy a Vita 2 in a heartbeat as long as it played most vita games, and the same psp/ps1 games as the vita.

While the Vita itself is actually a fine piece of handheld hardware I don't think Sony will touch the handheld market for the next few years at least.

I hope there will be a Vita2 (loved both PSP and VITA), but I think they should wait more before releasing it... VITA hardware after many years it's still perfect, I don't see why we should upgrade it...

I want them to, but they won't and I totally understand why.

And if for some crazy and miraculous reason they do make a new handheld, I hope it's way more consumer-friendly this time.

No. For nearly 30 years, not one company has succeeded in beating Nintendo in the handheld market.

Sony failed twice. It's best if they focus on something they are successful in.

I think it's just too hard to support both a console and a handheld (not that Sony has really tried much to support their handhelds with their own first rate developers).

That's kinda why the NX is a hybrid, so Nintendo's developers can support only one platform. without having to balance releases

Nintendo were already coming out with a handheld regardless, Sony knows they hold no market share in this space besides niche hardcore gamers and weeaboos. It would be painful to release yet another failure

Whoever does not miss the Vita has no heart. Whoever wants it back has no brain.
I love my Vita but there's no way this happens. Sony would be crazy to try it a second time. I don't even know what they could do differently to avoid a repeat of the Vita's failure. It was fun while it lasted though.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
There is no market for a handheld gaming product that isn't from Nintendo, Sony showed with the Vita that they wouldn't devote any significant resources to it and they are even less likely to do so now.

The 3DS took 5 different iterations of hardware to reach 20 million units in North America. That is a handheld with major support. That could breakdown as low as 10 million or less Unique owners.

One could easily wonder if the Handheld market is even viable anymore for anyone especially Sony who really cannot even hope to get the level of support Nintendo manages on handhelds.
